I have faced the dragon 2 time and only beat him once in a group, but that is what made it fun. The group was the big point for me not the dragon which was great looking by the way. I have a high end machine and the graphics are great with DDO, on SWG which I did play they are dated and it shows. There is no new stuff in SWG but in DDO new stuff every month for FREE. Call me a fanboy all you want looks like I am in good company from what I see here.

Edkenny do you have the high-res textures for DDO installed? I can tell the difference on my main PC with it installed and my gaming laptop which does not have the high-res textures. The graphics in DDO are very nice, no complaints here at all on graphics.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong the high-res textures only come on the DVD version of the game right? Anyone know if the collectors edition has them on there?

Not to derail the discussion about graphics (which DDO's are my favorite out of any current MMO), but I wanted to mention a couple other cool things about the maturity and social skills of the DDO community in general vs. that of WoW and other games.

I had sent a bunch of wands from one of my toons meant to go to my Bard.   I sent them to the wrong character name by mistake without realizinig it.   Two days later the person I sent them to by mistake (who didn't know me from a hole in the wall) sent all of the items back to me.   In all the other MMOs I have played I haven't ran into many people that would do such.

Last night I was in a group doing a Tangleroot run.   There were a number of experienced players (could tell based on the group was made up of mostly Drow) in the group.   The Cleric was very new to the game, and just happened to be a young kid (voice chat), instead of dissing on him like I have seen happen many times before in other MMOS, the players actually took the time to be civil with him and help him learn the robes.   Even when there was some near wipes with Whisperdoom due to some lack of healing, no one yelled or said anything other than words of encouragement and such.

This to me reflects on the maturity of the community.

As I have stated before I have been playing everyday for a month now across a few different toons and I have yet to have the game feel repetitive or a grind.  I rather run STK, Tangleroot and WW a dozen times over than spend another moment killing a wolf, or Gnoll in WoW.

So to the ones that say that they are having a problem grouping in this game, you must be doing something wrong.   I still have yet to have more than a few minute wait at most getting in a group.  And so far even my figher gets groupings far, far quicker than say  my warrior did in WoW.

Yeah grouping is great! In wow i had a hunter and thus many times i had to wait hours to get a group... Ohh yea and i had to continually spam LFG channel to let ppl know i am looking for a group... And i had to watch it eagerly for LFM annoucements, then whisper the guys whose sent me to depths of hell "no more hunters moron!"... Yeah then, when i once got in a group i could see the other members of it at least. Kewl... hey?! another 2 hunters? no healer? no tank? hell i didnt signed for a kamikaze run! OR if the classes were right in the group, u still had a good chance that a member of it was a selfish kid, a noob who doesnt speak any of the worlds languages or a damn ninja/farmer... Here we go, great chances to get a decent group, absolutely great... But lets say that you succeed, we get in an instance, someone begins to play the hero of the day, the result is ofc a wipe... Thanks to that one of the kids gets his nerves f'ked up, leaves party and heartstones away... Then the others are gone too, you've killed like half of the bosses of the instance this far, but ofc not the one who drops your gear with 2% chance... So u can begin again and again... again... and again and again and again... againagainagain...

If WoW doesnt have the glorious name of Warcraft in it, and if its not made by the once glorious Blizzard, it would have already been lost in the trash canister of internet... Its ways to much overhyped...

    But return to DDO now:

You dont have to watch LFG channel, you dont have to spam LFG channel, but you can pick 2 things to do:

    - you open social window and watch the LFM part where you see groups with many details, the game automatically filters for you if you wish, that for wich group are you eligible for. You can see its members, levels, classes, if its leader sets, you can see what quest they will do too... And you can decide if you want to join, before asking and joining, if you pick this choice you wont get surprised when getting invited in a group with a very bad class mix of chars.

    - you can click the button you are looking for group and thats it, you can do anything you want to, you'll get an invite sooner or later :P

With both ways you'll get in a group in max. 20mins, then you begin questing, ppl wont play hero, wont swear and specially wont just quit if you accidentaly wipe... Ohh yeah, and all classes are useful and needed, you wont get "be gone pest!" when ur a hunter (wich is ranger here) etc.

You are 100% correct Yeti.  And while I haven't ever thought of it, you are so correct about not getting cursed out.  As I mentioned  the one group I was in had a kid (maybe 11 or 12) that was new to the game and everyone was more than willing to be nice and help him learn the ropes and no one lol'd at him.   One might think that this was a freak thing, but last night I ended up in a group that had the same kid (a cleric mind you) and not a single person kicked him for being a kid, or new to the game.   As long as he acted mature and did his part (which he did) everyone was more than glad to have him along.

To those that constantly point out the flaws of DDO or bring up stuff link that it is instanced, I just always have to remind them, yeah but it is currently the best MMO to play if you want a great multiplayer experience.   The fact that one can solo some of the lower dungeons doesn't change that this is THE group friendly game.
