I am cancelling my preorder, and heres why, no beta for non US!

in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

I have a fileplanet subscription, just received a mail from fileplanet telling me that "Vanguard beta is here"

So i click the signup link and get taken to a page that tells me "Sorry, Vanguard open beta is for americans only"

I had two collectors editions preordered from game.co.uk for me and my girlfriend. I am about to phone game now and cancel them. Screw whoever makes decisions like this.

    I recommend going to Ausguard.com for help in this regard

    I wouldn't worry, the European beta has been announced, it'll be available on the 8th of January (monday), so just a little patience will go a long way. :)

    Im in the UK.. wales to be exact and Fileplanet gave me a key and let me register it with SoE.. instaling VG right now =D

    Tried to proxy, but it's impossible to sign-in on fileplanet with proxy (atleast for me).

    But I think I can wait 3 more days ;)

    so instead of waiting like.. an extra 4 days to get into the game, your going to get mad over nothing and wait 4 months for the next new game.

    im annoyed at what fileplanet have done also as i was hoping to have some fun on the game over the weekend since ihave tests from monday and then 3 weeks onwards.



    no playing for me when that happens :(

    Unfortunately, between the pre-promotion of the program and its launch this evening, we had to restrict access to U.S./Canadian residents only.   However, since you signed up before the restriction, we're going to set aside some keys and make sure you get one.



    We apologize for the wait, but we will do our best to get you a key within the next couple of days.   Your patience is greatly appreciated.

    I'm from the UK, and have been in beta since Beta 3.

    Based on what I have seen of the game, I wouldnt waste money preordering it, or even buying it on release.

    I would wait until maybe a year into release when they have had time to actually make it into a playable game, based on comments from non-fanbois,  rather than the mess it is right now. I'll keep testing it a few times a week when each patch comes out, but unless they manage to completely revamp it within 4 weeks then it will be a complete flamefest on their forums very soon.

    the open beta is not only for US. just the fileplanet version of it cant be activatet from non US/canada countrys. but you have to pay for it.. so wait a few weeks and the official beta 5 starts. how ever, if you in you see you dont have anything missed ... the game looks better as it really is.



    you can try your sign up via a proxy .. check out this site http://www.freewebproxys.eu.tt scroll a bit down and you find a list with many proxys..

    I played it for a solid 3 hours last night and had not one problem. I have a middle of the road system and I loved it.

    Yes, its quite odd... there's posts from people like you, claiming that the game is running great... with no problems... and then theres posts saying that the game as multiple issues....

    Someone is lying here.... or having a completely different game experience.... or has totally different expections....

    But how to determine what the game is really like?  Oh, I guess I could go join the beta....  

    Naw...I'll just wait for commercial release.... I hate seeing my beta characters deleted...makes me a sad panda...

    I really don't get it. I am canadian and my Fileplanet subscription gave me a beta key last night. I could consume my key as well. Oh well, I think I have just cheated on my location probably! lol



    I can play and you dont hhahaha

    That's right. Now that the NDA is lifted you hear the other side of the story. The game runs fine. I've been testing for close to 6 months and i've never had a crash. Sure there are times when we get some lag usually after a big patch but 90% of the time it's fine.

    I have played every MMO that has ever come out.

    Well it would help if you would be more specific as to why this game sucks. A post like yours is a waste of forum space. I have been in beta for a while now and this game is far from sucking.

    The problem is with most people  they dont understand the word BETA, your not there to just play, your there to test so of course there will be some issues and problems but that is what you are there for. You bug report and inform them of the problems so they can fix them, plain and simple.

    If you would like to post why the game sucks then I would be willing to counter your opinions with my opinions so it would be more productive then just saying it sucks.

    I'm from UK also and I've been downloading the 6.6Gb client everyday this week (from Euro mirror) each time it's been a dodgy CRC. Today's attempt resulted in the same.....On top of Fileplanet's NO-ONE OUTSIDE US rubbish today ol' Vanguard is giving me a lot of grief.

    The nice Fileplanet people who take money from me tell me, as they did others, they'll get us a key in 'a couple of days'.....Co-incidentaly it looks like the Euro beta is due to start on the 8th Jan, 3 days time.

    Taking bets that Fileplanet will send me a Euro key for use from the 8th...Something I can get from Eurogamer right this minute....Doubtless Fileplanet will tell me how hard they worked to negotiate a key on my behalf and what a good guy I am.





    So....Which of you Euro-business-savvy-gaming-websites wants my cash when my Fileplanet sub runs out......I wont be renewing it with any US xenophobic providers that's for sure.

    Well i hear what your saying forsure , but for me ive preordered the GE edtition and i havent even played the beta , downloading right now actually and when its done i probally wont even play it cause am not a tester type of person Am going to support this game with my money cause i like what ive heard and read about this game

    If its not finished or needs more time am ok with that , am playing when its released and all give them some time to make the game better , personally i cant think of too many games ive bought latly that after i played i thought well that was worth every cent The last game i played that was worth any salt was Baldurs gate 2 and that was a long time ago lol

    P.S I forgot to mention Bioware is back in the PC gaming business  , making a MMO too from what ive read and if anyone can make the WOW killer its Dr. Raymond Muzyka and Dr. Gregory Zeschuk lol
