For the love of god, why don't they compress anything?  The fact the game is as large as it is is ridiculous.  This is what happens when you hire coders "with equivalent experience".

    The client off fileplanet was 6.5 gig

    Then it installs and patches to around 20GB i've heard, but so? HD's aren't expensive now a days I have 400GB and think it's time to upgrade to some more

    Its only beta stage atm, they probs dont want to compress it just yet so its easier for them to change something if theres a bug or something on one of the files. By the time its released itll probably be much smaller.

    It's 16.6GB with the latest patches.

    Yes its a big patch about 20+ gigs  Is it worth it? only you can answer that , just be gald its only 20+ gigs  there was one that was 30 at beta2
