WOW. Whoever the site designer is should be not only fired, but set on fire.

Congratulations on making the least traversable and hideous website i've seen. It was never too good, but now it's an example of what not to do with a website. Throw in some more buttons or shiny little dohickies, that'll cover up for the fact that you've killed any and all accessibility.

/sigh

Okay, why don't you make a better one and send me the link? There is PLENTY of accessibility here you retard. Sure, I've seen better site designs, but this looks pretty good if you ask me and many other people on this site. I'm glad your going to get banned for harrassing the staff, as they've contributed a lot to make this probably the best resource for MMO's I've seen. Sure, the website doesn't look quite as nice as some other MMO site's I've seen around the net, but it sure as hell has more valid content than you can find at other sites.

I personally think the site designer did a good job, and you are doing nothing but attempting to discourage his ability to do so.

Just because you are used to old stuff doesnt mean this is so bad.

I agree , there is few problems.

But design if crazily hard job to do. And to please everyone. It is impossible.

I say. Whoever is working on the new page design. Keep up. Dont get discouraged , and ignore lame asses

And for god sake use more saturated blue next time image

Design is not hard. I went to college for advertising art and learned web design on the side. Though i heard that if you call people on the internet names, they change their opinion.

I agree, I dont like it at all, but thats first and foremost the visual appearance. That blue and tacky silver. Ugh. It just got this cheap air around it now, imo.

We like feedback and we have noted your opinions with everyone elses.  I would like to point out that we did almost nothing to change the functionality or the location of navigation items.  This was one of our strict instructions to the designer - we did not want returning users to lost getting around the site.

I can tell you that the designer is working hard right now on some new skins, one of which is going to be 95% like the "old" MMORPG.com design.

    Fails validation

Having a valid site is a key step to accessibility. Every HTML error introduces error correction into the question of how a browser renders your site. Fix the HTML and then you can safely say it's the browser's fault and not yours.

I like the site, and would like to point out this is an MMORPG Game site, not a website showcase. I say good work guys and keep it up.

Yes, you are right, it doesn't validate.  But that's ok.

    1. There is still a good deal of legacy markup in there.  Will take time to release it all.
    2. Inline javascript with escaped characters regularly doesn't validate.  And some of the javascript is going to stay inline because parts of it change with the server side processing, which again, is ok.

True, but it regularly does validate if you follow W3C guielines on how to mark up scripting.

But getting an encoding-type mismatch like you've done (page tells browser it's one type, server is saying it's another) is an error that should never happen. There's a fundamental difference between ISO 8859-1 and UTF-8. Browsers and other user agents are supposed to accept what a server sends to them as authoritative. So having any sort of encoding type markup in your pages while having a HTTP header sending it out is pointless, and probably introduces bugs into clients.

Javascript is client-side, 100%. What are you talking about, it changing with server-side processing? Javascript executes on the client, nowhere else.

Bah, whatever, you know best, don't you?

I agree, I don't like the new design either.  If someone from the website reads this, I ask you to please consider reverting it back to the old design.

I like the cookie cut phpBB fourm set up (http://www.phpbb.com), a lot of websites use it so people are used to it, it looks decent, and I think it will be easier to deal with for the web master/s since it's basically cut and paste +customise.

I don't know much about managing a fourm website so I might be completely off on this, but I would think this would be true.

Ummm, we don't run PHP anything around here  Nor do we use any "canned" software packages.

I was just saying I would rather have that kind of fourm set up than this. Maybe the looks can be copied, for the sleeker and cleaner look.

My biggest problems are the now more cryptic login procedure and the terrible new logo.  Goatse every time I see it.

I like the new site, it functions the same as the old one, it took me no time to see how it worked, if you find it hard to navigate this site i would suggest hanging up any knowledge of using the internet now.

Oh yeah?  Wow, that's a good rule.  Maybe you ought to write a book on interface design.  That ought to be in there.  Something like "If boognish75 says it is a good design, it is."
