Probably stupid questions...

Hi,

I am going to preface this post by letting you all know that I have not researched too much on this game. That said I have a few questions about somethings that looked extremely interesting to me.

1. Looting of player corpses: In pvp when you kill other players you can loot their corpses, this much I've figured out. The question is are you stealing their actual items, or do you maybe loot scaps and things that could be turned into an npc for pvp rewards?

2. Classes: I know the classes currently announced but I was wondering if anyone here was familiar enough with the Warhammer universe to maybe shed some light on their specific uses in groups/pvp/rvr?

3. Armor: One thing that I am wondering, though I am sure noone knows the answer, is if all armor pieces will be available from the start. What I mean by this is will there be low level head pieces, or shoulder pieces? Or will it be stupid like in WoW where you have to wait 30 levels to be a helm?

If anyone would be kind enough to answer any of my questions I would be much abliged.

    1. loots are only money, as far as im aware.

    2. most of the careers/classes have career descriptions, where they normally say something like a strong melee combatant(which obviously makes them good "warriors" :P), or something like that.

    3. donno

When you kill another player you are awarded XP, and Renown (think Realm Points/Honor).  You can also loot gold and items from the corpse as well. The items are not taken from the dead player, instead a loot table is generated for them just like if you had killed a PvE mob, same concept. The higher ranking a player has, the better his loot table will be.

    1. Nope. It's randomly generated, just like if you'de kill an NPC critter. In other words, the stuff comes from no where. As for the specfic items, I have no clue. I don't even think Mythic has a clue.

    2. There's a lot of classes to go through. And what do you mean by specific? Hammerers, Choppas are the rvealed Melle Damage guys. Both of them has this idea of momentium which build's up as they fight(similar to Brute's Rage in CoV), but the Dwarf is more armored. The Which Hunter and Chaos Zealot are possibly Melle Damage guys too.

Black Orcs and Ironbreakers are tanks. The Black Orc seems to have some minor crowd control too. Chaos Chosen and Knight of the Blazing Sun seem like the tanks for their factions.

The Goblin Shaman is basically a Wizard from traditional MMOs. Most of it's spells will probably be offensive if it follows WH lore. The Runepreist will probably be a buffer. It's healing seems more of a "One spell regains slowly over time" style to me rather than a "Cure, Cure, Cure! All I do is fire off heals!" style. Runepreists seem to cause damage by buffing themselves up with Runes and smashing into the enemy like any other Dwarf would. Then you have the Bright Wizard, who is basically a pyro with a licience to burn. I dunno what he plays like. And the Chaos Magus who 'shoots lighting and flys on a disk'.

The Preist of Sigmar doesn't really fit into a catagory here. He does damage but he also takes damage and is capibilbe of Divine Spells. Witch Hunter is another weird one since all Witch Hunter technically is is someone that hunts witches(if you don't think that's cool enough to be a class, go read the Witch Hunter series from Black Library.) But he's looking like Melle Damage since he builds 'confession' (:P)

And the last Chaos class remains unrevealed.

    3. I don't know, but I doubt it. Most of the models we've seen so far have full armor setts, helms included, and WoW only ripped off capes from CoH anyway.

Agree with armor - probably you will have all possibilities from the beginning, but Tier 1 will look fine, 2 nice, 3 great and 4 totally kickass ;)

Thanks for all the responses guys.

I am stoked to hear about the random item generization loots from pvp. This is probably going to be the first game that makes pvp REALLY worthwhile. Daoc did a great job with pvp (IE RvR), but actually getting money/loot from people is going to redefine why people pvp.

As to the classes currently announced I went onto wikipedia, and the W.A.R. official site and checked them out. I am definitely going to play Chaos because they are just so damned awesome looking and evil, but I really like the idea of the Dwarven Ironbreakers because of the grudge system. All in all I think they are doing some really revolutionary things with classes and their roles in pvp/pve/rvr. I also really like the idea of collision detection for strategy in pvp. Tanks actually get to do their jobs by defending their allies not just in pve because now they can block off choke points so that their archers/casters can unleash from behind them.

    Some other things I was wondering about, but couldn't seem to find on the official site or wikipedia;

    1. How much pve is there going to be in this game? What I mean by that is how many dungeons, and are there going to be a lot of quests outside of pvp?

    2. Has there been any announcements regarding weather or not there will be mounts, or even better siege weaponry?

Well, they've said that there's enough PvE content that you could PvE the entire game and never have to PvP. And they've said there's enough PvP content that you could PvP the entire game and never have to PvE. I think even hardcore PvPers will PvE eventually because of how it's set up. I mean the 'Get the Giant Drunk' Public quests was just too cool, having a Giant join your side and smash your enemies and all.

As for Dungeons, nothing's offically been said but if you read some of the zone overveiws there's some hints of PvE dungeon encounters.

"Lurking deep within one of the numerous caves in Ekrund is Murgluk the Mad, a mutated Goblin once fond of making brews to increase his strength and courage. While mucking about in a sinkhole searching for new ingredients, he discovered a tiny pebble of Warpstone and plopped it into one of his concoctions. When he drank this foul potion, he was transformed into a towering, muscle-bound monster. His twisted mind now plots the destruction of Dwarf and Orc alike, for Murgluk is determined to prove that he is the biggest, strongest and meanest greenskin of all."

There seems like there'll be some dungeons based on the Mourkin Empire and their Necromancial Artifacts. They're elluded to a lot in the text too. Not too many quests have been revealed though. So all I really know is the promise that you can PvE the whole game.

    2. Nothing said on Weather. Seeing as how Weather plays a big role in the Tabletop, it would be disappointing if not one scenaro had rain though. Mounts are in, mounted combate too. Siege Weaponry will make an appearence but mostly in sceneros. You won't be tugging around cannons.

I have the answer to # 3 when i was playin WAR last year at comicon they had the different slots for shoulders, hands, head, ect. Even with 2-3 armor slots full you can still look pimp unlike WOW where you need to be level 30 to start lookin good.

    Sweet stuff!

Weather plays a big role in immersion for me so I am hopeful that there will be rain and snow and all sorts of awesome stuff like that. Imagine pvping in a giant thunderstorm!

Yeah, I was referring to siege weapons in scenarios, and potentially in the sieges on enemy cities....not that I wanted to drive a tank =P

Oh, and thanks for the heads up on the armor man. It's always good to hear it from someone who has played hands on.

    1. they said there will be about 2-3 pve dungeons, if this means total or per faction i dunno. they also say they plan on having a super pvp dungeon, ala darkness fall in DAoC.

    2. Mounts are in, mounted combat is in, siege weaponry is limited in, so far it is prolly mostly limited to scenarios, ie: instanced pvp battles, but not many details have been revealed about them.
