OK there are so many complants about SWGs now that y not just make a pre nge sever and start over again. its like comic books some times they mess up the plot so bad that they just restart. y dont they do that with swg i would play it again of they went back to the good ole days. some of the aspects of the new and the old will make a great mmo but now it just sucks.

Having access to a billion $ IP - Billions of dollars..
Having access to a massive fan base of said IP - Even more Billons...
Singly handedly alienating them due to stupidity - Priceless.
I think part of the problem is that they have already reduced their support staff. Too open a PreCU server would further dilute what little support they are giving now.
They are just marking time and collecting money.
I get the same feeling with SWG. They had some guys, i think i even saw their names mentioned a few times in here, who were the true creators of SWG or at least some of the revolutionary aspects of it.
Im not at all sure they could do it again if they tried to make an SWG2.
Also i suspect that part of the problem with SWG was that it was such an extensive sandbox, so maybe it was simply too complex (read expensive) to manage the code. This off cause would not be a fact that most companies would openly admit.
This would fit some of the things we have heard from SOE, e.g when they started talking about removing BE because they were spending so many coding-hours on it, but few played it. ergo the 8 iconic char classes.
Still i think some classic servers would work, we all loved it in spite of the bugs, i for one would be satisfied if just they fixed critical exploits etc.
It seems difficult to imagine how you can create a top-nice sandbox mmorpg that could still be profitable for whomever would make it. Maybe if we all tell them that were willing to pay much more that 15$ if just the game is nice that the crap on the marked today.

Heck the only real reason that anything to do with SWG2 keeps popping up is that so many people want the PreCU back that there is a market out there. Granted it is a small market, but it is there. All of them hoping for PreCU to come back in some form or fashion. What if it never comes back, are you prepared to be exiles for ever?
What is wrong with SOE in general, and the SWG team in particular?
Very simple:
Gross mismanagement
The game systems have changed 3 times now, the management has remained the same. Does anyone else see a trend here?
QFE...
The people in charge and handling this are not the right ones. I think that after the first failure they needed to change... however, you can only fail so many times before it affects your output. I think this team has had so many failures on so many levels that it is making bad judgments now across the board. (Sort of) Panic calls... they make choices and changes now based on panicing and loss... NOW they add in UI fixes, or NOW they add in the size able radar -- etc.... THIS is not a example of fixing things, this is a clear example of panic , knee jerk repairs..
The sad part is that they have to admit to themselves this is what we had before.... and even they hate that lol.

I usually picture the Career builder commercial with the room full of monkeys and upside down sales chart when thinking about the SOE/SWG decision making process.....
SOE's John Blakely and Todd Fiala issued a warning: "Don't make our mistakes." Ref NGE
Winner of the worst MMOS goes to.... the NGE and SWG..!!! http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm?loadFeature=1034&bhcp=1
The NGE itself reeks of a panic kneejerk... The CU was given only 5 months. Because all it did was keep the sub base stable, it was deemed not good enough.
So they take a HUGE unwarranted gamble with the NGE. The NGE was an addicted gambler deep in debt, borrowing $50K from the mob and putting it all down on one roll of the dice kind of move...
"Hurray, finally a game where I can fulfill my lifelong dream of taking emotionally dead women and finding the most financially viable means to exploit their bodies with the ultimate goal of making them Hugh Hefner's personal furniture."
There's nothing worse than a few having the power to change the rules in the middle of any game and then ignorantly doing so. Any changes to an active game should be agreed upon by an overwhelming majority of those playing; those that do not agree will likely leave.
You can't fairly change rules in the middle of a game and if you do expect many to quit.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.
