Anything similar to puzzle pirates?

Hi everyone

i am brand new to this site.

I play puzle pirates and while I think it's good, I'm wondering if there are any other mmorpgs that are as good/better along a similar kind of theme/style?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

Check out Three Rings' Bang Howdy (http://www.banghowdy.com/); if it looks familiar, that's because Three Rings did Puzzle Pirates, too!

    Thanks for your reply :)

I did indeed download and install bang howdy onto my computer, but it seems my pc isn't fast enough for it. It will load up but runs frustratingly slowly.

What appealed to you about Puzzle Pirates?  That'll help us find a good game to recommend to you! :)

I liked some of the puzzles, mainly rumble and bilging but not keen on the taking hours to go on pillages. I want something that has a puzzle kind of base (or anything that is addictive LOL) but doesn't need to take up much time, for eg I can pop on for 15 minutes here and there.

I also dislike with puzzle pirates that if you don't play lots and lots frequently, then your stats go down. So something that your hard work remains would be good too.

Does that make any sense? :)

*nod* There aren't many puzzle based games...I would recommend A Tale in the Desert (http://www.atitd.com) but it's a big time consumer, and casual players often get frustrated in hardcore worlds.  ATITD is a really interesting game, though, focused on arts, politics, crafting, etc.  Through the Thought line of disciplines you can make puzzles, or you can travel the world and solve other users' puzzles, but that's a bit later in the game.

I never could quite get in to Puzzle Pirates, loved Bang! Howdy though.

Anyway, if you like "coffee break" type games, you could check out Pogo. It's not set up like Pirates at all, but there's plenty co-operative and competitive games there.

I was about to say the same thing. It's not an MMO, but for only $30 a year (if you sign up for Club Pogo) you get a load of quality games ranging from puzzle to card to word games. Progression is marked by points you earn that can be spent on things for your "avatar" and also special badges that are offered each week for certain games/achievements. And if you go searching you can join a league (they're run unofficially outside of the game) which is like the equivalent of a guild. The players who are certified to do within the league will start and run tournaments during various times of the day, for whatever games that league plays, and you can sign up and go against the other folks who also signed up. My father and his wife played on Pogo a lot when I lived with them, so that's how I know all this.
