Raids

Hello guys. I am new to Guild Wars. I have pretty much played all MMORPGS out there. But my favorite is EQ2. But with a new job, and traveling, and since my laptop plays GW and not EQ2.

I bought all three GW expansions. And have gotten a Necro to 15 so far. But I haven't yet seen any RAID missions or areas.

Now I still am new, but is this stuff out there. Is there stuff where you need several groups to kill The Dragon of Pure Destruction?

Oh I am very surprised how the whole GW thing works. Very good game.

The closest things to "raids" you might see in Guild Wars are elite missions and endgame areas. Here's a reference to what I'm talking about:

Core areas:

Prophecies only:
- Sorrow's Furnace: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Sorrow's_Furnace
- Tomb of the Primeval Kings: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Tomb_of_the_Primeval_Kings

Factions only:
- Urgoz's Warren: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Urgoz's_Warren
- The Deep: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/The_Deep

Nightfall only:
- Domain of Anguish: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Domain_of_Anguish

These areas usually require a superior amount of coordination between team members, and often a long time to complete (the Domain of Anguish is currently taking as much as 9 hours! though the area is still "young").

there are not much videos in this areas , i dont know about any in doa , not even much screen shots there.

You wont find 40 man raids, but there are very tough 8 man elite areas that require a lot of team work and knowledge.

Elite missions have 12 men teams though.

Doesn't a Raid usually imply that a whole team is going in to get some kind of Item(s) that are SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful than any items found solo or in the typical Teaming areas? ...I mean "Zerging" is real cute and all, but there has to be an ultimate REASONING for why almost every member in your guild would give up their whole Evening to plug away on some 1337 content.

9 HOURS!? Are u serious? U can't play all that in one shift can u? Or do u have to play it all in once cause it sounds pretty sick and not so very smart from the game users... I mean in WoW it's like playing Whole BWL, MC and ZG!

And I though a whole BWL was much...

yes took me 9 hours to do one quest , but im not going to explain why
buy the game if you want to know

Yeah, it's too long of a time. But again, it's because most people haven't figured out how to do it faster yet.
