Everyone has an opinion. Yes even those whe logged onto the game, got to level 3 and said I had no skills and there was no solo strategic depth.
Here is my opinion, from what the game is like once you hit the double digets.
First off, there is a lot to the game's combat, im sorry you dont experiece it all in the first 10 levels or so, but it does get a lot more fun. I dont know of its the most complicated combat out their, but it is more complicted than WoW's if you wanted to compair it to something.
Characted creationg I was told is going to be inmproved, but customizatoin is already fun, not quite CoH/CoV, but more than EQ2 I feel.
The game is realistic looking but its not like EQ2 where when ever I ran around I would notice all the little falts.
This being said, Vangaurd does have some rough spots, as does any mmorpg at this phase. Sure it doesnt have as much as WoW has, but WoW's been out going on 3 years now. Some things I am dissapointed about was the lack of customization in crafting, I was really hoping for something complicated like SWG, what vanguard has is still more engaging than say EQ2, WoW or any of your chinese counterparts, with complications and all the other fun quirks.
At launch, assuming it gets a little better, I would say Vanguard will be worse than WoW, but its got potential. I consider subscribing to Vanguard getting a leg up on all the people who will join afterwards once they have finished tweaking and refining a game like you can only do once the game has gone gold.
Its not a WoW killing, but for people like me, it seems like a nice choice to play once WoW or another MMORPG starts to lose your interest.
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...

The resources in SWG had stats which made some peoples armors much better than others.
I still love it, and the promise that endgame crafting requires adventure parts so that endgame equiptment involved crafters not raid drops. It makes more sense.I agree with the graphics, my computer gets raped by the requirements sadly.. being a student has its disadvantages lol.

I'm sorry but anyone who says they have never had any problems in the Vanguard beta with graphic lag is lying.

maybe he is running at the lowest settings and is happy with single digit FPS
I miss DAoC
Laptop: 2.13ghz, 2GB ram, nvidia 6800 go
Custom Built Desktop: 1.8ghz, 2GB ram, nvidia 7800 gt
Both systems, when I explore, I set it to balanced to highly detailed (max graphics). when I explore, it stays on highly detailed. When I get around a lot of people, I drop it to balanced. Both systems run really great and the graphical detail at this point isn't crippled to much degree.
When I group, I move into a custom setting where I can take advantage of keeping the rich details of the area that I am in while increasing my performance. If I feel lazy, I may just bump it down to the high performance setting that drops the graphics. That is a sure fire bet to have the perfect performance you want while crippling the graphical look quite a bit (but, it works fine).
Bottom line is, if you take the time to adjust to your environment, you can keep running with some pretty amazing detail. All of this is and will be a work in progress and I know it is high on their agenda post-launch or even for the few weeks we have before release.

I adjusted my .ini file, play on max settings and no lag...
I have a highend pc yeah, but the .ini file helped a lot with lag.
If you have to adjust your *.ini and lower settings of some sort you aren't playing at max settings by default anymore. Max settings = Max settings with everything turned up to full and no *.ini tweaking.
Hi there.
Like many of you, I'm looking forward to playing Vanguard and judging for myself. For the computer savvy of you out there, can I ask you look at my system and tell me how it will perform:
I have a dual core 3800+, 2 gig of ram and 2 video cards operationg in SLI mode, they are both 7800gtx cards.
Thank you for helping me out,
Ginetti.

My HARDCORE Story
I'm playing on a 4200, 2gig, x1900xtx on high quality customised with -> maximum draw distance, hdr and all other special effects on but with shadows turned down a little (they do nothing for me) and only experience slowdown when caching new area's.
It looks sweet, especially as you can see miles (kilometres for us!) into the distance and see all the mountain ranges waiting for you to climb.
Did EQ2 character customisation ever improve from the free trial island they used to have sometime near first release? Cause I thought the customisation there was awfull. Maybe I was spoiled by SWG but it wasn't half as good as SWG and not even close to being worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as CoH/CoV character customisation.
Usually im a FPS freak, i want the game to run smooth etc... But with Vanguard i dont care. Yesterday i turned on all settings, and the game look so good, when i turned on HDR, ZOMG I GOT SURPRISED...
Im doing 15FPS with all high details, except tree's and grass density. I may be turning down shadows, as that isnt a thing i notice that much.
I did 30-35FPS in heavy city environment on balanced detail.
Im pleased so far, as i only have 1gb of ram, that is where the problem lies.

I run on balanced settings, which look nice, and get smooth FPS. I have an AMD64 3000+, Radeon X800, and 2gigs of RAM - Which is midrange by today's standards.

For the record, I'm not lying. It was running just fine, only when I went into crowded areas did the FPS drop a little. Oh, and it wasn't on lowest, it was on balanced. Good try though.
