Saying SOE has nothing to do with this game is a odd statement...

While so far they've been good to Sigil and gave them much more time for development, and fact is it'll have to be released soon to start making money. SOE will have alot to do with this game tbh...

- Publish it

- Advertise it

- host servers

- Set deadlines

- Tell Sigil if they want a expansion

- They might even say the game isn't Vanguardy or iconic enough and want changes to the game.

In the end a publisher funds the game and by the sound of it is the backbone of the game, so SOE has lots of control over decisions in the game, because they could just go one day "bye Sigil we're stopping investing into this game find a new publisher".

I saw this too...

As much as I hate to say it, you're right about SOE having power through money. They aren't ALL bad, though.

Could you clarify what that "Focus Test Schedule" thing is, and what it has to do with SOE having power over Sigil? Sorry if I'm a little slow here...

You lost your jedi, so what ?  I did too and i'm not crying...

Now, the image you posted are for patch annoncement and focus test.  They are locked because only devs post in there or are allowed to start thread.

why did you posted that anyways ?

Publish, Advertise, Host, Deadlines, all SOE has a great track record for dealing with.

Sigil knows where Vanguard is going. The design docs are written... They want to work on this game, that is proven. SOE won't have to say anything about "wanting" an expansion, Sigil will just do it. Expecially when the release the game, make some money and hire some more people (prays) to help the development cycle.

SOE won't change the game. That's just not something I would see Brad letting go of. He is pretty darn motivated about Vanguard, along with his entire management and staff. Wouldn't worry.

I think the SOE thing is a dead issue, at least I think the horse is already pounded into the ground so nothing left to stomp on. Yes I have a grudge against SOE because I lost all that time I spent in SWG and losing all I accomplished but hell its over man.

Also I am pretty sure SOE isnt going to try to screw this one up, hell they dont want another SWG war on there hands and you can tell by post they have made about SWG that they realise how bad they screwed up. I think they learned a lesson and if not well its a chance I am willing to take because I like where Vanguard is going and I think it will be the game I have longed for since losing SWG and the community we had there.

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

They did not have to go with SOE but for some reason they decided to go with well...SOE ! In the end it was their decision to sign up with SOE so in the end they are the ones to blame. It's not like Brad and the gang at Sigil are noobs and didn't know what SOE is all about and that is turning a buck. I don't think guys who hate SOE like you do are going to start throwing a few million around so they can polish the turd they have right now.

What amazes me with all this frankly tired anti SOE melarky is that ALL games be it MMO's or otherwise are in it to make money.

Games are a big buisness, they are made solely to make money..live with it or make your own.

What I've learned from SOE is that in order to enjoy anything with thier name attached, you better damn well get in the game early before they had a chance to screw it up and enjoy the fun while it lasts. Im probably going to buy the game at launch but the second I see SOE step in and try to do a massive revamp, Im going to just jump ship. I hope it never happens but if it does, I wont be surprised.

Not quite. Who do you think has been propping sigil up since they left m$? And, who do you think gave the money to sigil so they could buy back vanguard from microsoft? Who do you think decided it's a good time to release a clearly unfinished game in 1 month? Yes, that's right, phoney online entertainment. Now, it's probably fair to say that a deadline has to be set and the production spending has to stop sometime. It only needs 2-3 months max. This time and money invested, I believe, would be financially sound and p.r. wise give sony back some of their credibility. That's never going to happen is it? Because sony never learns.

Oh FFS, the replys in this thread are just ridiculous.

"I lost my Jedi too you know, im tired of SoE but im happy to keep giving them my $ and letting them fuck me in the ass every month, but I dont whine so you shouldnt"

Sorry guys that kind of logic doesnt work, just becuase you dont mind giving your cash to a company that would abuse your trust, doesnt mean the rest of us will. SoE has made BIG mistakes in the past all that have had repercushions on players like you and me, unfortunately Sony doesnt give a shit about customer satisfaction all they care about is $. But if the actions of a few gamers saying "NO" can reduce their profits via refusing them a few subscribers, it will make a difference and maybe, JUST maybe, SoE will change its ways and concentrate on not abusing its customers.

Threads bringing up the issue of "SoE doom" are essential to making SoE realise they fucked up and if they do it again they're hurting their own profits.

Anyway getting back on topic, we only need to start worrying when Sigil employees are getting sacked or quit.

    *Shakes head*  ok...

What rights does SOE have over Vanguard?

How its advertized,  What the box-art looks like, Whats included in the box, How the manual looks,  (possibly how many servers there are)  And thats about it.   Oh and i 'think' they may have controle over how mutch per month the game will cost.

Other than that... they have nothing at all to do with the game, how its patched, when its patched, what makes it into the game, whats taken out of it.  Nothing from a codeing standpoint do they have any controle at all over.

That is all in Sigil's hands.

Sigil is createing, editing, running the game.

SOE is doing nothing more than Hosting the Servers, Marketing it, and makeing a profit off part of the sales and montly fee's.

You obviously have no experience with this game.

    1) Read the Sigil / SOE FAQ before posting junk like this.

    2) The Focus Test Schedule Forum has been there since WELL before SOE became publisher. It's used by the Dev's to announce Focus Testing to the cumminity, and has always been locked. The Dev's stated that it would no longer be used when Beta 5 Started.

Please, before you post BS, please read up on a subject.

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

Anyone who thinks that a company providing the financing for a project has no say so or control over that project has spent no time in the real world.

The following is taken out of context from a SOE executive meeting. The names have been changed to protect the innocent. Any similiarities in the names, between people living or dead, is purely coincidence.

Myrtle: "This new Vanguard game is coming out, it could give our EQ2 product line some trouble."

Smidley: "Not to worry, we have it covered. At the earliest opportunity we offer to co-publish the game. Then we can rush it into release with major elements missing, causing the developer to make changes on the fly. Then, at launch, we will support it with insufficient servers, causing lots of lag problems. That should piss the community off enough to stop supporting Vanguard."

Smyrtle: But won't Sigil get suspicious, and file a lawsuit against us?"

Smidley: "No, becouse they know they cannot win. All we have to do is show that we treated Vanguard the same as we've treated every other SOE product. With that arguement gentlemen, we cannot lose. Now on to our next topic, how to get access to WOW, so we can do for that community what we did for the SWG community."

It really doesn't matter whether you support Vanguard or not. If you buy it to spite Smidley, he makes money, if you boycott it to spite Smidley, he makes money. Smidley is smarter than Copeland, which makes him smarter than all the rest of you. Deal with it.
