Is SOE/Sigil Rushing Vanguard on Shelf's?

I'm sorry, but i've been in Beta since stage 3 and I cannot beleive that they are already in Beta stage 5(open beta). IMO this game needs major polishing and more work before it is anywhere near to launch. Most gaming retailers have it listed as releasing at the end of this month(1/29/2006 or something). And as it is going now it really seems like they are trying to push it out on that date. I pray to god that they spend at least another two months on this game. Same old $oe story...release an unfinished game, work on it while people pay and play while releasing bogus expansions...

Maybe, but all MMOs are released in a BETA state, nature of the beast!

  • yeah its rushed..no doubt about it...but..sigh..Im a slave for something new so I'll struggle my way through it, hoping it gets ironed out.  I play EQ2 and I have had my hand at WoW and I'm burnt on EQ2 and WoW wasn't my cup of Jack...so I'm craving something else.

Yeah those 8 hour wait queues were smack full of professionalism. And lets not forget that WoW had alot of issues until its final patch before release. Oh and the server crashes lets not forget those!

EVERY MMO has it's issues upon release. Don't talk crap and say any game was "ready" for release because so far every game i've played hasn't been "ready" for release.

They had five years to get this game finished.  Five years is long enough.

WoW, contrary to popular belief, had a VERY smooth release.

So basically you're saying that they fixed most of the issues with a final beta patch and then released it? That sounds pretty good to me.

Btw this game is being rushed, what's new?

I just had a smooth release in the bathroom after thinking of WoW so thank you. I was all ready to go for Vanguard but these horror stories I've been reading of late have turn me off it, instead I'll be giving my money to Age of Conan. Good luck to you all who stick around for release.

    QQ.

The game is developed by Sigil, and publish my SoE. What's wrong with hating a bastardizing company that fucked up one of the best games? He can support Sigil if he wants and keep his opinion about SoE.

Were we playing the same WoW at its launch?  I honestly don't remember it being that polished, classes were severly unbalanced, huge pieces of game play promised at launched lobbed off,  gear missing, looting issues(mine a peice of ore and get stuck until you log off in the 'looting' status), crafting issues,  all so they could rush it out to launch around the same time as EQ2.   I'd mention server issues if that didn't seem to be a common issue with every mmo launch.

Hell balance issues still exist because they constantly redo entire skill trees.

Everyone keeps blaming SOE for this game sucking but ever think that might be Sigil's fault?  They're the ones Creating the game, sony's just providing the funds to slap the stuff onto disk and put it in stores.

I was in closed Beta for wow for a few months....thanks to MMORPG.com

it was far from a smooth release in closed beta there were many things the developers said would be ready for release that never happened. tons of things went bad during release....i still play WoW and even after 2 years there are things they should fix that they just dont.

its a great game but far from where it should be

    More Evidence os SOE'ization

    What is Vanguard’s launch date?
I can't announce the launch date yet, but the dates that are floating around are pretty close.

Keep in mind that we will be keeping a solid Live Team on board and keep working on the game post-launch. And this team is separate from the expansion team, and the expansion team will be helping the live team at *least* 2 months after launch.

McQuaid says it himself, he is saying it will still be broken at launch but their gonna fix stuff after they launch it. OMFG i thought BETA TESTS where meant to hammer out all of the bugs and fix things, why can't One game company Ever just make a game and have it at a level that most people like when it launches, and at a steady state of when it is actually ready to launch? i dont get it, what were these people doing for over 5 years with this??

WoW.. was crap in Beta.. i was there... WoW was crap at release... but I played on... but now... it bores me to tears... and has for a long time...

Vanguard is new... it looks refreshingly new....

Also  WoW had tons of bugs... and graphic glitches.. at the beginning... but hey they ironed most of those... it was far from polished...lol

Oh, and before you ask... yeah.. my system is way above the specs for anything on the market... so don't think it's that.

Sure it might look good in the videos and I hate to break it to you but the game is terribly boring and unpolished. I've been playing MMORPGs since UO and I'd rate Vanguard at about a 6/10 in its current state. It's just not fun to play, the animations are horrendous. When I played WoW, I was immediately pulled into the atmosphere of the game but not with Vanguard. Add to that the outrageous specs you need to play with decent graphics and it adds up to a mess.

Oh, nasty. Thanks for a really good laugh.

My opinion: Rushed, as well as most of the PC and console games in the market. So nothing new, especially with mmorpgs.
