Bored of WoW, where to next.

Having been playing WoW for about a year I have now gotten to the point where I am just bored with the whole thing, and the thought of acutally having to spend however many hours to get to lvl 70 with BC coming out turns me off even more to playing.

As I am one of those people who acutally has a life and only really plays on weekends, I will never get into a big raiding guilds, so I will never see the big end game bosses and get the dreaded purple lurgy and crave purple items, never have the 1000g required to get my epic mount, so I am basically thinking what is the point of playing. I managed to get one char to lvl 60, and I have a few alts, but I really loath the idea of going thru the same kind of q's to get them up to 60 as well, for me there just isnt enough differences in the ally or horde side to make the game fun, why they didnt create different spells/talent trees for either faction is beyond me.

So basically, can anyone give me an idea of where I should go next?, I have been thinking about CoX or EQ2, I have no problem paying to play as for me, paying means the game wont be full of complete idiots or kids that just have no life or credit card. I suppose the best thing with WoW is the fact that the game is so huge so there is always plenty on ppl online.

Also if I did leave WoW then I would have an account that might want to go to a good home.

All right, so if I'm interpreting your post correctly, you want a game that:

A.) Does not require massive investments of playing time to be competitive

B.) Has an indepth skill tree, or at least good levels of character development.

Among the game currently out, the ones that might, or might not, spark your interest are as follows:

EVE - skill training is done as a matter of time, you don't even have to be logged in for it to go. Is however a very far cry from the WOW style of gameplay.

Anarchy Online - massive amounts of character development and customization, its almost impossible to find two identical characters.

Among the games that are coming out, I would suggest taking a look at:

    Age of Conan

Warhammer Online - no, its not a WOW clone

The above suggestions are based soley on the two points mentioned, I do not have any further substantial information on what you do or not not like

WoW is the closest thing you get to a casual game.

Yes, you will get to see purples and raiding as you wont in any other game.

Only thing you wont be seeing, is actual progress, compared to the big raiding guilds. There is no game in the world that allows "weekend players" to get a head start in big raiding instances, compared to the no-lifers.

Choose WoW if you ever want to raid... But you will have to wait a descent amount of time to get to that point, where you can join a casual raiding guild... They will be there, just be patient.

If you arent the raiding type of guy, you could see if you could find a small guild, and maybe create your own little Arena team, when you reach lvl 70. The new system allows people to gain epics, even though they arent playing 24/7 months of months in a row.

And i would think Outlands will bring some great quests and instances, that you will get to enjoy for many many hours =))

I still think WoW have enough spells to keep you busy. Most RPG's only have 10-15 spells for each class, where as WoW has up to 20 different spells and abilities for each class. Not poiting in given ranks in each, that allows you to be diverse in your gameplay.

I hope you find the game you are looking for =))))

Ild try DDO if I were you, countless ways to go with your char. Leveling is actually fun, grouping system is decent , perfect for logging on a weekend doing couple of dungeons and having fun while at it.

Thanks for the comments so far.

I know that WoW has a lot to offer but if I really want to get a sense of the game with the end game stuff they really you have to be the sort of person that can comment more than the amount of time I can allow, and the whole point of just staying in one area killing the same thing over and over again for me gets so boring so quickly, so something with less grinding would be better.

I always played Ally and then I thought I would give Horde a go, but it is just to similar for me and as for PvP, I have tried it so many times and I just cant get my head around it, so I suck at it.

So really the best game for me is a friendly one, that you arent pressured into lvling up as quickly as possible, and it isnt full of the retards that look down there nose at you just coz they have all of the epics and you dont.

Hmm, well that knocks EVE and Warhammer off of my list of suggestions.

AoC is still the top pick I would suggest, and yes I will admit to some bias, with a sig like this one, its kinda hard to hide it anyways
