10 day trial

Deathstrike2Deathstrike2 Member UncommonPosts: 1,777

I bought DDO when it first came out, played it for a couple of days, and then cancelled.  It just wasn't all that great to me.  Out of boredom last night, I reinstalled the game and started my 10 day free trial.  WOW!  The game seems to have changed a bit.  It was actually very fun, and the dungeons were interesting.  I'm really impressed with the work that Turbine has done with the game so far, and it's looking like I will resubscribe at the end of this trial.

Anywho, I just wanted to say to the people who are considering giving it a try, go for it.  It's really fun!  I almost didn't because of some of the posts on these forums.  I'm glad that I decided to make up my own mind.

Good for you dude, yes the game is improving all the time and is standing out all the more compared to the generic mmo's which seem to be launching lately!

Yeah, reading forums and peoples views on everything ( too often people have a too negative views on games... ) isn't really making it any easier for anyone to make an objective opinion.

Games change, communities change, friends change.
People have became too dependant on reading forums.

Im going to try out the 10 day trial and see for myself.

    Good day

Things have changed. I can't say for the better, but not for the worse either. They've add PvP and more dungeons, but that's it. I wouldn't know, I never made it pass level 4. I un-installed after we did Redfang when a Rogue kept ninja-barrelling. Although that wasn't the main reason I quit.

There was also a level increase, auction houses were added, new spells, monsters, randomised dungeons and there is a lot more to come, keep your eyes out for this game, since it seems people are disappointed that Vanguard is just more of the same, DDO stands out even more because it has dared to be innovative.

On the horizon are new classes, crafting, another level increase, lots more................

More and more people are starting to realise this is not a bad game, the servers are getting busier and busier!

I forgot to mention they added auction house, but that was added before I got there. It hasn't done anything new that other RPGs haven't done. They recently added a few new dungeons, but that's the most they expect out of the game every 3 to 4 months. New people are exploring the content while many of veterans of DDO are trying to find new MMORPG to play because new content only  adds a few more weeks to experience.

They come back EVERY SINGLE MONTH, you know why? Because the game gets new content EVERY MONTH, good quality FREE CONTENT!

The game for a new player has several months of content to play through.   You have to remember Turbine is one of the best companies as far as adding new content.   They have a 7 year old game that they add monthly content to and pretty much never missed a patch date except for recently when they had to use the staff to work on the xpac.    I am still amazed that blizzard with all the success and as good of a game as it is, was never able to even come close to the skeleton size staff of AC as far as adding new content to their game.  I am interested to see how crafting shapes up down the road.

You only played to level 4 and yet you constantly comment on topics that it someone that only played to level 4 wouldn't have a first hand knowledge of.   And the whole ninja-barrel thing is just ROTFL.

Statistics to back this up?   Didn't think so.

I have to say im greatly surprised.

After reading everyone saying this game is sooo bad, I got the 10 day trial as I stated earlier.

Logged on, made a Cleric. Got a groupinvitation about instantly after finishing the first quests. I was lucky, the guy who invited me also superviced me through the first dungeons on his new character through his mike. I had a blast those first quests, and Im impressed about the feeling and atmosphere turbine created in there.

A while later, I got a groupinvitation from a lvl 4(!)whoa.. ;-) And joined a full group on a bigger mission. It was really intense and we had to cooperate pretty well to survive down there. I was lost for hours...

Another thing that that really made me happy is that the community seems to be A LOT more mature than recent games ive tested, very nice people in deed.

I love the grafics, the sound and music are excellent and that goes for playing the game as well. Moving around feels so real.

So... Will I continue to play this game?
I don't know, I havent been investigating much enough yet and Im pretty clueless about the endgame and how long that would keep someone hooked.

Some people who start late on a game has a feeling that it is "too late", at least that goes for me. I want to be there "when it happens", to be in the first lines, which would be a very big motivating factor. It made me try WoW, and leave WoW.

Knowing there will be a couple new titles coming in a bit makes you wonder if its worth the investigated time, if you are going to leave for that new game anyways.

I have seen what Turbine can create now. I was with them in Asherons Call '99-01 and im really looking forward for the beta and release of LOTRO.

Till then Ill fool around a bit more in DDO, its a great game imo, maybe Ill get hooked for real.

Then explain why Asheron's Call 2 was cancelled and why the population of AC is so low.

    This isn't AC or AC2, it's DDO
