I spent most of my adolescence and the entirety of my adult life dealing with computers and it grates on my professional sensibilities that a company could be so lame. I suppose being the preeminent success of the MMOG world entitles a company to treat customers with a certain disdain, but you would think their programmers would have some sense of pride. That a server should need to be shutdown, dusted out, the spaghetti code combed back into place, not just occasionally but weekly is an insult to every programming guideline with which I am familiar. My God, just what sort of mess is the WoW code base?

Who cares it's during early time in the morning, and they are moving onto live maintenance, meaning they wont shut down servers every weak.
There are games such as EVE Online with maintenance EVERY DAY.
You are dealing with computers all your life but clearly you don't now jack. Stop being so ignorant.
Well then. When your MMO comes out you let us know.

It's called maintenance, all computer systems need it. Such is life. Deal with it.
This is a joke right? Almost every MMO has service time everyday when they restart the servers, dump the mem, etc to keep them running smooth. Oh noes! You cant play for 2 hrs while the server is down.
Or do you think servers can just run and run and run w/o ever having to restart or clean up?
playing eq2 and two worlds
ya... it's called maintenance....
Without it, servers would be crashing allllll the time, not just when 100+ ppl stand around together
