murdera2k6, i feel like you are baiting us. You say to keep coming with our input and feelings about eq2. You say a couple key things one you tried trial and you called it rubbish you also say it is not as good as WoW or GW (both good games but hardly to eq2 level) I think you simple prefer the play style of WoW so you will never like a deep more sandbox game like eq2. You should probably wait for Lord of the Rings online. LoTRO plays a lot like Wow. I realize everyone has their preferences of games but to call EQ2 rubbish suggests you do not get it and will probably not like it no matter how good we try to tell you it is.
Indeed it is one of the best MMOs out there to date. I come from WoW, GWs, DoAC, Lineage I & II, Archlord, Ragnarok Online, UO, SWG, Final Fantasy XI, and D&D Online. I played EQ II on release and thought it was "ok" but I recently signed back up and love it. The way PVP is handled, crafting, and Achievement points is just wonderful. Plus there is a load of new content. But I think everyone already covered this. As far as GW goes it's a great game as well but I don't really think of it as an MMO, the Role Playing gets old but the PVP is great, consider it Counter Strike with quest. And lastly I can't say much about WoW, I tried my best to get into it for a while but just never could like it, to me it was bland, had poor character design, was way too easy, and far to childish a community. But those are my personal opinions, the 7.5 million subscribers it has might think differently
Tried: Vanguard, UO, Rappelz, Archlord, RF Online, SWG, WAR, Ryzom, Anarchy Online, AC, APB, STO, Perfect World, Black Prophecy...
Played: EQ,EQII, Lineage, Lineage 2, GW, EVE Online, AoC, DoAC, iRO, AC2, WoW, SWTOR, Runes of Magic, Allods, Rift.. Currently Playing: Tera

I've retired both my lvl 60 accounts. It is a very good game. I rated it 7 out of 10. Problem I had with it was that it was so system resource intensive. I have a nice computer set up and had little problem with it but my online friends that I have played with for 5 years now couldnt keep it up, especially while in city.
Game is solid as a Fantasy game genre. Just make sure you have lots of ram, a very good video card, and a fast hard drive with plenty of room. Then, make sure you only enter the cities while all other players are out grinding. If you do what I recommend, game will run great.
I have either purchased or played the trial of every MMO out there and I can say with confidence that EQ2 is the all around deepest, most enjoyable MMO available right now. The ways to play the game are endless. The update system is flawless. The community is superb! The adult to kid ratio is very high, at least 5 to 1 maybe even higher. The main drawback to the game is that to really enjoy it, you need to build (or buy if you prefer) a really good rig with at least 2 gigs of RAM, a fast CPU and a high performing video card. If you have any cooling issues at all on your rig do not play EQ2 (especially Echoes of Fay) as you will see GPU temps sky rocket. I have personally fixed, upgraded and modified over 8 different friend's PCs who all but burned their rig playing EQ2. If you're not sure how your rig will handle it, try EQ2 first with settings low. Monitor your CPU and GPU temps and don't be surprised if your screen goes black (usually the GPU shutting down the vid card at high temps) The only other slightly negative aspect (my opinion, no offense intended) is that if you attempt to play a toon on one of the Role Playing servers you will encounter a lot of folks who take the game way, way too seriously. They will be very condescending and demand that you do things a certain way. This is annoying and I suggest that only the most severe MMO lifers attempt to play on the RP servers. If you have a life, do not enter the RP servers. Many of them forget that most of us have other obligations like family, careers, etc. Of course, the PVP servers are dominated by kids so most adults will find them annoying as well. Peace.
IVe just startedto play it (after a 10 hour upgrading) and its THE BEST MMO ive ever played yet. it so fun amazing graphics and im suprised that u have day and night! its great and ive only just started. however i have one concern, no one ever talks speaks, the community isnt very friendly, im the oly guy who goes round saying hi to people and no one replier. is this because im new to the game and im at a newby area and it gets friendly as u go on or is it always like that. im a lvl 5 barbarian wizard . iw ould rate this game 8.6 out of 10 . Only let down is community. im hoping i gets better.
THIS GAME ROCKS :P

I noticed a lack of community in the very beginning but last night I was asking a question and not only did someone give me a very helpful answer, they invited me into their guild. From then on I had people talking to me and chatting... I'm also still in the early stages... I think I'm at lvl 15 atm.
Thanks for the response... in all fairness, I may very well have been using the wrong channel... I think I was just in the general channel which may have been a faux paux on my part (probably blew the spelling on that...)
Anyway, I'd give credit to my new guild here but since I only managed to stay online for a few minutes after joining last night I'm having a brain fart and can't remember the name... but they rock! *grin*
I've always found the community on EQ2 to be excellent. Generally, if you ask for help with something in /ooc, you get quite a few replies.
Unless you're spamming for groups or auctions which is actually rude considering that the game has an /auction channel where you should be selling it (I turn /auction off. If I want to buy it, I'll buy from the broker) and you can turn on /lfg to find a group which then adds you to the "searching for a group" list.
yea there is a free trial, trial of the fae, i think. i've played both wow and eq2 and i very much like eq2 better than wow. i was never a raider in wow. i lvled up 2 classes to 60, ran the basic 5-10 man instances many times, but just got bored with it pretty quick.
eq2 to me is just more fun. the classes are more diverse, the races are more interesting. zones are much bigger in size it seems, antonica and commonlands especially. the crafting system is intricate, harvesting is much more in depth. crafted items can be as good or better than looted items, though at the 60-70 lvl looted is better. the guild system and guild window has much more detail than anything in wow.
