The fanbois have not helped this game progress.

In fact, only the "haters" have helped Vanguard to change for the better.  Were fanbois all Sigil listened to, this game would still be in the shape it was in during Beta 1.

Agreed. The problem is that these people are asually the most active on the forums and everyone loves a brown noser too. But the problem is that the pressure on designers to fix things is minimal because a lot of them would rather just play and point out the minor issues instead of really speaking out. It's sad that this game is in open beta and seeing just what the condition really is. Most of these issues should have been taken care of months ago, go figure...

I dunno on the Vanguard beta forums theres los of good feedback for them to listen to. Theres always been good constructive critisism, since fileplanet though theres just been more useless threads like "this game is shit" sorry but thats not going to help anyone tbh.

Sigil know how to filter out the crap from the good and they know what to do, only problem is.... The games going to be released at the end of Jan and theres not enoguh time.

I respect Sigil for admiting the game isn't ready but it has to be released for busget reasons.

Would you respect an auto manufacturer that sold you a car without brakes because they needed the money?

Thank you for this post. At least everyone who doesn't want to play Vanguard and comes here isn't a complete troll.

Sure there are issues, but the Vanguard community is mostly great and Vanguard, for those with the system, is an excellent game. I just wish it performed better on average computers so people would at least be able to see the amazing art work.

Fans of Vanguard are all that has helped anything be changed for the better besides the hard work of the devs. Haters don't get listened to, period.

The "fanbois" wanted all the original stuff in the game that was promised. The "haters" were the ones that complained about the grind, death penalty, slow combat (with reactions), no quest helpers, no mini map, etc...

All that stuff got dropped because the haters said they wouldn't buy it if it was that true hardcore game. Sigil needs to make money, combat WAS too slow and boring in Beta 2 and everyon complained...there goes their revolutionary combat system. The death penalty is way less than it was, the altars and shields over quest givers heads stayed in....all these things the fanbois hated.

The haters made Vanguard an EQ2/WoW clone. I like the game and will be playing it over EQ2, but it is not 3rd Generation.
  • This game is starting to remind me of...well, you'll see.

I'm afraid to buy this at release. I also don't want 2 years of effort thrown out for a revamp for simpletons.

I hope the kiddies that need thier hands held can't afford the high-end computer needed and the game might actually survive.

All I have to say is that neither end of the extremes help all that much. People who blindly follow with no constructive feedback don't help make the game better, but neither do people who hate and whine when they either haven't played the game or refuse to let themselves like it for some stupid reason.

Those who are fans of  Vanguard but don't want to raid are ignored. That's the way it is. So I'll continue with Guild Wars and look at other options.

A Vanboi follows blind faith that the game will be good. Add a lot of Brad worship in there and EQ 'good ol' days' talk.

A hater follows blind faith that the game will be bad. Add insults to the company, questioning their integrity, calling foul on shady business practices and slaps Brad's mother in the face.

A beta tester posts in the forums when this or that needs tweeking/fixing/overhauling here or there while respecting the company, being a polite guest, after all, we were invited, and says thank you for the opportunity.

The beta testers are improving the game, the other two are like a bull elephant trumpeting to the herd, a lot of noise, mostly going unnoticed by the rest of the elephants.

Brad has said repeatedly that this game will not be released until it is ready.

Brad has said repeatedly that Sigil, and not SOE, will make the design choices, is in control, and will decide when it is ready.

So how could it get released too early? Unless, hmmm, maybe he wasn't telling the truth.

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

Or, that reality is what it is.  Meaning no more money - means release it, or don't.

You know as well as anyone Amathe, that Brad has always put forth the best light on every situation.  Kinda like a parent with their children.  But, now that the time has come - it's either release it - or scrap it.

I know there would be some who would just as soon it was scraped, but you know what?  They don't have to pay for it.  Good news!  Those that think it should be scrapped instead of released now can choose not to buy it.  Those that think it's fun now (knowing it's unfinished - it's not like it's a secret) can choose to buy it.

How are the wants of those that want it scrapped more important than the wants of those that want to play it?  Nobody is forcing anyone to buy it, right?  So, how are they harmed?  If other people choose to buy it, who are you or any of us to question their right to do that?

Geez, it's just a game.  It's not a life-changing decision.  Some of you are acting like this is tantamount to sacrificing children or something.
