Many times I want to feel how good is Everquest II. After pre-Burning Crusade event in WoW I canceled account (all players are grinding PVP honors now) and I tried EQ2.
After try I think that it is one of the best massive multiplayer rpg's. Excelent graphics, good music, tons of quests, good community make this game very nice.
But there is one problem that cause me not to stay with EQ2. This is similiar problem that has many top MMORPG games - "Worlds Are Old". I didn't take any plesure in playing in world, where players that begin game 2 years ago exist. It's hard to find group to make above-average quest and it's hard to find motivation to participate in this kind of game.
It's a reason why I didn't play in other superb game - EVE Online. And it is a reason why I will return to blizard who sometimes thinks about players just like me and opens new servers.
Bye EQ2,
Andy

I will just offer you some advice.
#1 - If you know a game is 2 years old DO NOT TRY IT. I thought this would be obvious since you dont like games with older communities but when I got to the bottom of your post I realized what I was dealing with.
#2 - Only try games that have been out for less then 3 months
A bit offtopic, but the good thing WoW does is open new realms every 3 months or so, this is great for new players, it not nice to start a game knowing there are players that have a 1 or 2 year head start on you.
sure there are advanced vets, etc, but they can rather be helpful.
of course, if you want to show off and be the biggest, baddest, and first, etc, then you are better off powerleveling on a new wow-server.
and for your info, blizzard doesn't think of you, they simply open new realms because the existing ones can't take on more, resp. to spread out the load.
maybe even better - why don't you play new mmos? 9dragons coming out soon or vanguard. all new servers, no high levels anywhere....
I can definitely sympathize with the original poster here. I often find myself feeling unenthusiastic about a new MMORPG because of the worn feel I get from the community. EQ 2 doesn't have a 'bad community' or anything, but just like all MMORPGs, it is worn out. The other players have lost their sense of enthusiasm and amazement, and as I play with them I quickly find my own enthusiasm failing.
For that reason I have a hard time getting used to games like EVE and EQ2 now. I wish I could go back in time and play them while they were first getting started- Not that my computer at the time could handle EQ2.
I'd say that EQ2 is the best traditional MMORPG on the market right now... Its just one of those games that I wish I could get into, but cant. It is silly I suppose, but ah well.

Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
Well put, Andy. The WoW server i play on has been up since launch, as such many players on it are veterans. Unfortunly you really notice what it does to the "lower" part of the community. You rarely, if ever, see new characters that aren't alts nowadays which is sad since every community needs "new blood".
I think it's the same for all MMOs though, hopefully however, this year will provide plenty of new exciting options like those mentioned above.
Good luck Andy, and it was nice reading a constructive topic for once.
great first POST & great replies
good example of how it should go !!
i agree with the first poster
Eq2 is not a fun game if you dont find people to group with , solo is possible but very slow and you wont get into a dungeon very far.
But if you find a good ACTIVE guild, the game is the best there is ATM.
You should give it a try
cheers
you should really play the FAE and start in faydark @ this point in the game imho
its wicked busy there even at low levels
I must say i am no eq2 fanatic i do not understand your reasoning for quiting.
Basically you dont want to catch to the high end crowd on established servers. WoW does this by making new servers.
Ok lets take WoW's idea to keep the game fresh for new people. WoW as of right now has many players, last number i heard was 7 million i believe. So as of right now while the game is still hype, then there are many people just starting. This allows them to create new servers for people to start out on, ok wow will soon start loosing subscribers once intrest is lost. This will start merging servers. They may decide lets open a new server a month to llet people start over with the hanful of new people that start ........... then what give em long enough to catch up to rest of player base, merge the server and start again?
After awhile people will invested too much time in thier main toon and wont feel like jumping to that new server for a fresh start anymore. Now that new fresh server is more barren then a desert.
All MMO's have this problem, designers need to quit the quick fix ideas andd come up with something tangible to create a circle out of a toons career in these games. Letting people level faster, starting new servers, the option of rerolling get old after awhile and is not fixing the problem.
So inshort you will run across this problem no matter what MMO you go to, some have ways to ease the problem but its only for so long.
Admittedly, there is much misunderstanding as to how and why this is possible and why it works, but as good as EQ2 or WoW may be in this area, EVE is unparalleled, IMO.
I agree with the OP, it is very difficult to get into new MMORPGs when you do not know anyone and most of the players are already far ahead of you in leveling. I've found myself leaving games, despite knowing they are good games, simply because I was too lonely to enjoy myself.
I wouldnt mind if they opened new servers up, then merged old ones every so often... It is probably a difficult thing to do though, so I am not surprised nor upset that they dont do it.
(Lonely in game I mean. Well, I'm lonely in real life too. Will you be my friend? )
