So twenty days later, I decided to wander around the MMORPG.com forums in search of a good read. I perused the DaOC forums, then EQ2, took a quick peek at CoH, then found myself here again. Oh look! I had forgotten all about my post. Hmm...third on the list?! A HOT sign next to it?! Certainly, there couldn't have been anything in that post that merited THAT many responses...was there? Then, out of curiousity I suppose, I decided to open up my old thread and see what had made it so interesting. *sigh*... At least I was able to find out the author of that quote. Samuel Clemens, eh? P.S. I was thinking. No really, I was! And I thought, if I ever had the opportunity to develop a game, I'd surround myself with the most progressive MMOG thinkers. People who were willing to try things that others hadn't tried, and artists who could draw in styles other than Anime. And then you know what I'd do? I'd develop the game, publish it, and then NEVER look at a forum about it. In fact, I wouldn't even open a official forum for it. Wanna know why? "The proof is in the pudding" Now, who can tell me the author of THAT one?
hehehe sorry your post got fubar'd, but you were kinda asking for by your post title
Anyway...could the quote be jesus, or am i totally off here?
Notch226 wrote: "As bad as this board is nothing compares to the attempt to muzzle discontent at the offical apologist/fanboi only boards for DDO." I dunno... I just looked, and my post where I flat-out called the devs morons for some of what they were doing still shows up. Too bad I'm not allowed to call anyone here a moron, even if they deserve it. Hey, CaptainRPG, group with any 3.5 rangers lately that can disable traps as well as a rogue can? What do you mean "no"?
Well if you post saying the devs are idiots it's easy to let that stay, as you will first off be shouted down by the Turbine Advocacy Group and second of all just look like a whiney troll. They aren't afraid of you. They are afraid of people who don't tow the company line but also don't come off as complete tools. They fear people who point out their lies and silly methods of stretching out the content and not dealing with exploiters. It's easy to allow their forum tools to deal with simply calling the dev team morons, it's difficult to deal with actual smart and pointed commentary that doesn't state Turbine is great and if you don't agree go play WoW !
Seriously, take a good look at the official forums and watch how quick the TAG is out to snuff out discontent and waste forum space with nonsense. I understand how some people need forum friends but that place is sad. It's almost as bad as the Cap'n and his alt here in reverse. Extremes are bad, honesty is good. Sadly, you will find lots of the former and little of the latter on any internet forum.
CRPG accusing others of having infriorITY complex is such a joke! Being defensice is not the same as having an inferiority complex! Geez, if gamers pretend to know something about real life issues, at least they should be documented. Just look up what this psychological term refers to, and it will be absolutely clear, that if anyone has some issue of this type, it is the accuser himself!
Inferiority complex is nowhere near being defensive, it's more being on the permanent attacking and proving side due to a basic frustration (anyone recognize our very own knight in this role?)
DDO is for the die hard Advanced D&D players of old. It is not for the avid MMO gamer.
I am a "die hard advanced D&D player of old"; at least, I remember 2E being the "new" version of the game and have a geektrove of ancient manuals and boxed sets neatly stacked in the basement occasionally coming up to see the light of day to have a round of inebriated dice-tossing and roleplaying after the kids are in bed.
DDO has absolutely nothing for me or anyone of my generation that I've ever met. Awful implementation of a gaming juggernaut.
Wow, you guys are still obsessing about CRPG. This can’t be healthy. Just came by to throw my 2 cents because apparently you don’t have a clue as to what inferior complex is.
An inferiority complex, in the fields of psychology and psychoanalysis, is a feeling that one is inferior to others in some way. It is often subconscious, and is thought to drive afflicted individuals to overcompensate, resulting either in spectacular achievement or extreme antisocial behaviour. Unlike a normal feeling of inferiority, which can act as an incentive for achievement, an inferiority complex is an advanced state of discouragement, often resulting in a retreat from difficulties.
I read Neuro’s post loud and clear. Apparently, his main two reasons for leaving WoW were because he didn’t want to put with the kids there and he didn’t want to keep up with his gear or ammo. He claimed that ammo and repairing armor were all trivial things, yet these same elements currently exist in DDO. Not wanting to get along with the kids is antisocial behavior and not wanting to keep up with “trivial” things like repairing armor and re-supply ammo is a sign of discouragement. (And an excuse not to do something)
People with an inferior complex go on the defense or try to compensate for what they lack. Throughout these topics, you’ve all displayed the need to defend DDO. You've all stated that DDO is exclusive game for you guys to play and that all MMORPG should be exclusive. If that isn't a big of inferiority complex, I don't know what is. Lastly, Neuro's was going to leave because CRPG got him in trouble for trolling on the forums. Rather than deal with the problem, he was going to leave everything behind. I use to work daycare so I know all to well what an inferiority complex is.

Quick post before I leave. (Hollywood, Florida) But yes, DDO didn't have anything for me either. (...neither does Vanguard.) Nothing in this game speaks DnD.
I love the game for what it does that the others do not. No ninja Looting, no repeating the same adventure over and over again just to get the Sword of a Thousand Truths, etc... I enjoy changing weapons based on the MOBs I am fighting. Because I have to think while in combat. Try it again, get past introductory levels and you might be suprised.

First off, you are really starting to sound like Captain RPG, but of course I guess you would.
Next off, what is with all the lies? Where did I say anything about ammo and repairing armor? I didn't. And you are the one that keeps bring up Cap'n. Most likley because either you are him, or your a friend of his. No one has claimed that DDO is an exclusive game. LOL. You are so funny Captain, eh or at the very least his soul mate.

Played EQ, DAoC, and Wow eventually got bored with each one. I hate the idea of running the same quest a zillion times to get the ultimate sword of doom.
Been playing DDO for a while now, and it isn't bad. There are a few things I'd like to see modified, or added, but on the whole, I enjoy the game, and really appreciate the new content released each month. My group of 6 killed the dragon the other night, and it was a rush. There was an awful lot more personal satisfaction than compared to the time, I was one of 30(?) who killed the Albion Dragon in DAoC.
Each type of game is very different, and each offers interesting outlooks on what makes a game fun. I loved the DAoC RvR set up, and am happy to see a few newer games looking to set up something like that. I loved the WoW ability to progress using Questing. I loved the character generation in CoH, and CoV. I love the continuous new content in DDO, and much of the mechanics.
At the risk of being called a blind DDO supporter, it is a very good niche game, and if you enjoy the group mechanics then it is a fune, easy way to blow off some steam.
It isn't a game like WoW or DAoC, but it is a fun time.
