WoW Beta and EQ Players

If you have a WoW beta account and actively play EQ please send me a PM, have some questions regarding both games as I am debating buying EQ or waiting for WoW to be released. Thanks.

  • talking about WoW beta might be problematic, cause of the nda....

NDA refers to only specific elements to a game. General gameplay, storyline and etc do not violate the NDA. If someone told me 'the gameplay in WoW is better than EQ' that is not a violation of the NDA. And the reason I asked for someone to PM me was so there woulnd't be any public problems IF something was accidentally disclosed that violates the NDA, that user wouldn't have to worry about any problems with MMORPG.

You want to start playing the original EQ now ? Jeez this game is at the end of its life-cycle. Everybody and their dog is level, what 65 now? Not to mention outdated graphics, a million expansions you'll have to update. It was a great game but now is not the time to introduce yourself to all the old issues.

    Wait for WoW or EQ2.

Theres only 2 expansions to update if I buy Everquest: Evolutions. I can care less how many people are level 65 or whatever since I play for fun not to be the best.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but don't get EQ1 kind of way late now because all the zones like 40 and below are empty no one is there and like 70% of good guilds in game requirement is level 65. So if you start playing now places like EC, FV, etc 30 and below zones are completely empty. Really you'll have to solo everywhere and it can be as hard as hell if your a certain class. This game has pretty much became hardcore gamers only because now all expansions are mainly level 65 zones and their not doing too much for low levels at this moment. So if you plan to get game go to a new server or those newbie servers so everyone is low level and people can't transfer their high level char. But i recommend EQ2 because that will be new graphics, skills, and more people too play with around your level.
On other hand WoW looks really good but can't tell you too much because I have to wait till phase 2 to play. But they got tons of new skills, Tons of quests that are actually fun people say, actually thats what almost all players talk about are quests and weapons. Beta level cap is level 30 but people at WoW beta forums really have no negative content on game at all. And what's even better 2 classes haven't been released yet and horde alliance is not even out and level 60 cap, and all skills, spells, and quests aren't even all out yet. So this game is doing well in beta even though only like about 50 or 40% of the game is actually playable. So I recommend WoW if you play warcraft but no news of EQ2 that much but everyone doubts it but never know. EQ2 and WoW look like 2 of the coolest MMORPGs coming.

I'll say it once again that when people ask these type of questions to remember that you are getting someone else's opinion plain and simple. Just because one person says it's awesome I love it or another says I hate it it sucks doesn't mean your going to feel one way or the other about it. Gaming is a passion, a hobby, what I like you might dislike and vice versa. Doesn't mean either of us is right or wrong just indifferent as individuals with different taste. With that said and not one to give advice but suggestions, if I were you I would wait for the next generation of games due out soon.

EQ was a great game in it's day that started it all but as many have said it is outdated but then again for the price you pay for it today what like 29 bucks for the original and 6 expansions? it may be worth it to you. One thing is for certain though you will spend alot of time on this game. It is not a game you will jump into a few hours a day and find satisfaction. This game requires alot of your time to really be succesful in it and really enjoy it.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Bashing eq isn't the answer, and do many realize just because eq has been around for 5 years doesn't exactly mean its still not fun for those that have never played it.  While most have many 60+ charaters, there are still alot of people that are still very generous to new players coming in, and since not many of the new games are released yet and won't until the end of this month, others mid summer to end of the year.  Eq will still hold a place for many new gamers, its not a bad game and they will keep adding new additions to the game.  They are starting to update things to try and keep it up to date with other mmorpg's as much as they can.  Just because one doesn't care for eq any longer is really no reason to bash any game.  I would say if a game is still going pretty strong for 5+ years, they must be doing something right to keep one interested in it and will continue to gain more gamers.  Some people won't even be able to update their computers for some of the games coming out, as alot of these customers seem to be young players that don't have an income or rely on their parents.

One must learn to respect others when they are only asking a simple question, and only reply to that question in a responsible mature way.

As always, this is only my opinion and not meant to cause any flaming wars.

Did you people even read our posts ?? No-one was "bashing" EQ. I started playing just before Kunark, it was and still remains the greatest gaming experience I have ever had. What I said was that, in my opinion, and for many valid reasons,  now is not the time to start playing that game.

All I do know is EQ didn't start it all, infact didn't start much of anything. I have been reading up on EQ2 and as stupid as this may sound. decaying armor turns me off. So I probably won't go that route.
