Whatever anyone says about Vanguard, the fact they make you work for your levels, and give you pain for your deaths, should make this a more rewarding and challenging game.
Face it, saying you made it to level 60 in WOW is like bragging about your high school diploma; doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot.
Making level 50 in this game is going to be some work and challenge.

But to what end should someone want to get level 50?
To raid? No thanks.
To be a second choice in groups when raiders are not available? No thanks.
To give a comparaison for FoH to gloat about? No thanks.
I fail to see the point to get to 50 in that game, a "I win" screen would be better than that. You lose many of the "elite PUGers" (raiders are seldom PUGers), which in the long run mean casuals will get less "good PUGS" offers, which mean they would be left out all the more by the absence of peoples who would have taken them in LK (in Velketor, a casual nightmare if not well surrounded) for the fun of the challenge! Taking peoples that are labeled as the "worst noobs" on the server, making a successfull group and going to the camp just beside "uberguildA", that is an achievement...they are amazed, they look at the group in disbelief and they notice that you are there. That is FUN. Reading them been afraid that we will cause them to wipe is droolicious in itself! I will never turn a player away if he is nice and I can figure a way to make it work...which is a LOT more than what these uberguilders will offer them. (I assume some peoples would group me for the same reasons, like the tiny fish eaten by the small fish eaten by the medium fish eaten by the large fish eaten by the huge fish...I just hope to be a good size fish! )

I agree with the OP, levelling is a challenge.
Im starting to get into some more lengthy combat now and its much more interesting than I first expected it would be. There are lots of options for how you manage the fight and the con system seems pretty accurate. If it says something is gonna be a challenge, chances are im gonna finish with 5% health left.
Id say getting to 50 is going to take some serious playtime and some serious assitance from either guildies or groups.

So by the OPs logic if I have to click 1000 times to go from level 9 to level 10, having to click 10,000 time would make the game 10 times better. There is no more skill involved in spamming the same 3 or 4 attacks in this game than there is is spamming the three best attacks in any other MMORPG, just more of a time sink is all. If I want to end up with 5% health for the challenge in any MMORPG all I have to do is attack higher level mobs. There is always something out there that is beyond my level guaranteed.

Button mashing for hours on end is not hard if your patient.
Uber guilds will rush to 50 and claim it was easy.
Hard is very subjective.
