Why do all I see is people nagging SOE that they are doing a horrible job at there job. "This Is Just What I Think And Im Probably Wrong Or Something". You gotta think how many gamers and games there are compaired to how many "Admin" or "Workers" at SOE To View. Its kinda hard to be every where watching everything at once. And the thing that all the hackers ruining games you havta realize once they stop one hack there just gonna come out with another hack. It wont stop and thats just life. So just get off SOE's back about them doing so bad at there job, Or quit playing there games if you hate it so much.

Screwing the people who like your game in a vain attempt to steal subscribers from another game is "hip"?
Exactly why I hate them and will no longer give them any of my money.
Alright, an "SOE isn't that evil" Post!
Sorry, but I'm going to have to fight you on this one.
I don't hate SOE because they can't stop hackers. Not even close. Hell, I liked SWG when they were bug-ridden/Full of exploits. I will say this on that issue though. If they had listened to the playerbase for five minutes, they would have known exactly what bugs to fix. However, their customer service absolutely sucks, and the best we could ever get was "We are aware of the issue" or "Working as intended". Even when they did fix a bug, the SWG devs usually created 5 more. Most of the devs couldn't code if their life depended on it (not that I could either, but it isn't my job).
But again, I could have played some of their games from now 'til oblivion if it wasn't for the way they treated their playerbase, and their downright rotten business practices. Basically, to them, all we were was $15 dollars a month. They didn't have a problem treating us like crap, telling us one thing and doing the opposite. SOE is easily the master of the Bait and Switch tactic.
Lets take the "Trials of Obi-Wan" Expansion. Many pre-order, and we all get the expansion for some much needed content, or the next weapon that will dominate the PvP arena. Two days after the expansion hits live, BAM, the NGE is announced. Sure, they eventually offered a refund. After several lawsuits were filed almost immediately.
Well, since we hit the topic of the NGE, lets go back to how they treat their playerbase. The whole purpose of the NGE was to dump the current playerbase in search of a whole, new, mythical fanbase, AKA The WoW Crowd (One which failed, which pleases me to no end). They even pushed it out way ahead of schedule to shove in down the playerbases throat before we got any proper chance to try it out.
And as for you asking about why I still play it, I don't. But I don't have to currently play a game to have rights to complain about it. Otherwise, everybody has to shut up about DnL, D&D, or whatever other crappy MMORPG that everyone bitches about besides SWG.

Exactly the same thing they did to Everquest 2. My first real venture into the big mo's, and loved it, but then they had to ruin it to try and grab ahold of Blizzard's coattails, leaving all us loyal players out to dry.
I'm not going to be playing any games that have been developed by SOE anymore, after SWG and PS i don't want to be screwed over again. I will also not be playing any mmorpgs to do with the Star Wars license anymore lol.
SOE games have too many expansions that put players off buying it, tbh they should just go for a top notch game with free expansions and make money by having a good game not fanbois who by 8 expansions each.

SOE hate, where does it come from? Tonite at 11.
I do have to say SOE hate tends to be overdramatized. Calling SOE a money grubbing corp whose suits care little for games... yeah, that's every production company. Suits are about making money, or their about getting into an industry that they lack the creative talent for (just like Hollywood producers).
But some SOE hate is justified. Here's a perfect example from SWG. SOE marketted the trials of Obi-wan with content fixes and patches for classes. Within the month, SOE unveiled the new game experience which discontinued many of the classes the trials was meant to fix. The result, fanbois were duped into buying something worthless. SOE did refund their money but only after a huge protest.
SOE every now and then makes BIG customer service blunders. More I think than any other MMO company out there. This pisses off their playerbase. Another problem is that their games generated some die-hard fans. Betray them, they'll never forgive you (like find the woman of your dreams, then finding her sleeping with someone else).
Also, in general, SOE has bad customer service...period. This is from experience.

SWG..if you've never played the original there's no reason to go into the hateful changes.
I will tell you objectively why SWG is a bad game now.
It's twitch based, but suffers lag problems. The result is very annoying.
You need a very high end computer to run it, even though its a few years old.
Because of the Exodus of players, you'll find the world to be very empty. This will be problematic if you ever need help completing a quest, or buying gear. There's almost noone around to build you a starship, guns, armor etc. Plus most available land is taken up by player houses still left behind from when the game had a strong player base.
It's still buggy.

SOE is hideous at running games, even their good ones.
The cost to play EQ2 is much higer than any other current game on the market. You need to get each expansion to expand your character with the different "AA"s. You need to get the adventure packs to level at a decent rate between the level cap increases from the first 2 expansions. All in all it averages out to about $125 more a year than any other game with a $15 subscription.
Even their best game isn't that good.
Edit: Oh and I loved the release SWG, but it was buggy and not this perfectly running game people make it seem to be. Course, if they had put more effort into fixing the real issues it had rather than completely altering the game I would bet the population would have grown as it was the only 2nd generation sandbox title out.
Krovean that is not how the game creation works. Thats just SOE, out of all the MMO companies, SOE is known for its money grubbing attitude. They mind set on how wonderful EQ was that they thought they couldnt fail making MMO's no matter what mmo it was, and that was there downfall. They really lack the knowledge for gaming and what the player base wants. And there has been more then enough evidence shown that SOE really do not care for there player base, while being in a state of denial.
Not every company are money grubbing suits, mostly the marketing department is that.
Also since SOE likes reusing its EQ team for its other MMO's, there is a statement "SOE only knows how to make EQ and only EQ" .
You know who the vast majority of SOE haters are?? Ex SWG players who now have a chip on their shoulders. Well boo fuckin hoo, get over it and grow up. Im sick of all the hate threads.
Ok i play EQ2 but i dont profess to love or hate SOE, i play a game and i dont give a flying fuck who's running the show i just play it, plain and simple.
I never played SWG, but I did play PS for a few years. I hate SOE. Not just because they ruined a great game, but because they turned their backs on their own playerbase and they treated them very poorly.
It was sickening to watch all those players who spent nights and nights doing things in-game that, when the NGE came out, would be ruined and/or just completely deleted.
This is not how you should run a game company. Another good example of this is from the creators of Dark & Light (talk about a fuckup).
SOE hate? For every SOE hate thread, there needs to be 5 EA hate threads to make up for it, for they are worse in nearly every possible way...
Yet, it's all SOE hating around here.
