Will this game have casters that are just pure casters and kite things, because most of the stuff I have seen is pretty much all melee based. The game looks cool and has some cool conecepts, but if I can't role a traditional mage type character then I'll have to pass.

Ok, if what you mean by traditional mage is the classic, long beard, pointy hat, glass canon(gandulf) then no you will not be finding these weakling on the battlefields of Hyboria. Like most other things found in your run of the mill MMO, AoC has put a darker twist on the spellcaster, puts steel in their hand( that he can actually use!!), and IMO cranked their spellcasting abiliies through the roof. heh can you tell I'm planning on making my main a mage
Aoc has added spellweaving, which allows mages to combine several of their spells into one giant spell that leaves naught but corpses in its wake. Also they've added a little more depth to the mage archetype by making two of the types able to have pets, while the other two are known as melee mages.
Linky to the class page so you can check them all out for yourself.
There isn't really any video of the mage classes yet, though if watch the newest few you get some teasers out of them. I think I know which one your talking about, the class is a low lved Herald, before his soul becomes corrupted and his takes on more of a demon form. What your seeing is really the first showing of spellweaving, your caster has to stand still, and channel for a few seconds, depending on how many spells your trying to weave into that one almighty nuke.
Coolest thing about spellweaving though is that your always walking a fine line. If you try to make to it more powerful then what you can handle at your level then it will back fire, causeing damage to your allies around you, or even killing you on the spot.
