You guys think the ipod success will extend to the iPhone? I hope not.... Maybe it's just me hating on the majority... But I just dont want Apple to have fricking control over everything that plays music...

Not interested
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
Not interested and I will tell you why...
Mp3 phones are not new...there are at least a half dozen phones out right now with ALOT of space for music. The chocolate for one has 1 gb, with more phones coming out soon.
It is a PDA with phone capabilities. Macintosh recently ingested Palm into its corporate digestive system. Palm is the leading provider of PDA devices, and thus you now have a iPood PDA. No big surprise here. I was never interested in PDA's before and I am still not interested in them.
I do not trust Macintosh anymore. I once owned a 2nd generation iPood. I was super excited about it and finally nabbed one for my birthday. It was only 15 gbs but still back then it was a lot! Unfortunately after a year I realized that the iPoods had built in obsoletion. My battery was dead and could no longer be recharged, and the only way to fix it was to send it into Macintosh where I had to pay the $100 repair fee.
Too many applications. I don't want a cell phone that can do 10 other things. I just want a fucking cell phone. All I need it for is to text message and make phone calls. Any other application is completely useless to me.
It looks to big for me. The Ngage was also a neat idea, as was the sidekick...but both were to big for me. There is no way I'd ever invest in anything that was uncomfortable.
EDIT: I just read the pricing...its rediculous. For the 4 GB iPhone it will cost you $499 WITH a 2 year subscription plan to Cingular. For an 8 GB iPhone it will set you back $599.
This is fuckin rediculous. This small thing, which really offers nothing new, is being sold for the same price that a PS3 costs? Actually even more if you factor in the subscription costs that you will be roped into. I can buy a 30gb Zune, nab a free phone with Mp3 capabilities, txt messaging, photo option, and internet for free with a subscription plan, and buy a Nintendo DS for less than what this iPhone does. And all of these things do their individual tasks about 1000% better than the iPhone will.
Wow...
Eternally mine,

The MMO gaming blog I write for.
Is that what the big deal was about? I saw on the news earlier (paraphrasing) "the world's eyes are turned towards Apple today for a major announcement by Steve Jobs" in what I'm guessing amounts to a REAL slow news day.
Maybe I'm jaded but I figure a worldwide "major announcement" and "revolutionary item" should be along the lines of a hovercar or a Matrix-like headjack, not a phone or a motorized scooter.

Actually the iPhone line has been out for a while now:

5 Hours of Call time
16 Hours of MP3 time.
If you use it for MP3s going to and from work and as a mobile phone during the day.... or maybe watch a video or two, then your going to be charging this phone up each and every day.
It IS a nice design, but it would p!ss me right off with the battery charging aspect - and given that there´s no swapping out the battery - if im wrong then i apologise, its just want i heard -, then i have to wonder how long the battery would last before having to send the unit back to Apple for a "fix".
Nah, sounds strange, but the phone is about 5 years ahead of its time.
