Save me from going back to WoW!

Unfortuatly I must admit im starting to miss the pvp in WoW.

I orginanly left the game because a found leveling to slow and thought blizzard was the spawn of satan (or should i say diablo, he he he he) but something about the pvp, its calling me back.

i have guildwars, and i do enjoy the pvp there  but im really starting to miss the, well, randomness of WoWs pvp;

The ganking (and being ganked) the being chased over half the world and the giant battles. Not to mention the fact that you can jump! its a big + in dynamic PvP for me. Everything in guild wars is just starting to feel to "neat" for me... i enjoy it when the odds are against me (or in my favore) and as gw is so micro balanced (always 4v4 or 6v6 or 8v8) it lacks the brutality and randomness i crave from PvP. but guildwars DOES give me the option (and i love this) of creating maxed out lvl 20s JUST for pvp, so i dont have to grind (i hate the grind!) through levels just to be competent)

The truth is i dont want to go back to WoW, i'll probably last about 3 weeks before i rage quit and feel cheated out of my money.

is there any mmo anyone would suggest (out, in beta or in the works) that contains the PvP action im after? if not.... im afraid im going to have to go back to... *gulp* world of warcraft....

Your main option for quality PvP is probably DAoC. Others will no doubt have other opinions but DAoC is now stable, content rich and still moderately populated. You can usually get a free trial around somewhere.... so nothing to lose by having a look.

Yeah, give EVE or DAOC a try.

If you feel like going old school try UO or AC1 Darktide.

All these games have MUCH better PVP wow - and as they aren't item or level based, but are moreso 'player skill based' you don't have to spend months leveling, then months raiding just to be competitive.

Otherwise hold out till AOC comes out – or if you are really patient, Darkfall.

Heh aside from the guildwars part it could be me writing the original post here... I'm in the same boat,  I think WoW has one of the most bland worlds and lore out there,  bland community and bland leveling grinds... however when I did reach 60 the pvp well.. it did captivate me I pvped ALL the time and loved it.

I must say the one thing WoW does better than any mmo I've played yet is fantastic gameplay, the mechanics of the game are very well done.   People say that Wow pvp is totally gear based which gear does come into play however I'd say gear matter less in Wow than any other mmo ever made.

Show me another where I can repeatedly get to the top of kills in a battle ground running around naked, won't happen.    However I'm sick of running 3 bg's all day, and I don't care for most of the community in Wow the general chat and chat in the battlegrounds makes me want to stab my eyes out with a rusty fork.   Even the roleplaying servers you can't find one mature player most of the time.

Daoc would be a good choice but it's combat honestly feels incredibly dated to me, not to mention that dex speed casting ruels them all and a few casters can wipe out whole armies if exploited right.  (this is the way it used to be at least I don't know abou tcurrently)

Darkfall I think is our best bet out of the new games comming out for decent pvp, and then Warhammer Online after that, honestly I don't think there's anything else out there to scratch the itch until then besides Wow which,, well makes me a bit sad.

Not to take anything away from Eve, but you should probably take what you read about Eve on this site with a grain of salt. :) Daoc is a solid game. The leveling up process may be a little boring but great pvp. The daoc battlegrounds for lower lvls are lots of fun.

Do not go to EVE for PvP

You would need to play for at least a year before you pose any chalenge in pvp.

Until than you will only be cannon fodder. And lose every single time.

But if that is what you consider fun...

If PvP is only "going alone against veterans" for you, you are right. If you do stuff solo you better be good.

On the other hand this game is called MMOG for a reason...

EvE is the only game I know so far where a handful of younger players can pose a real thread for a veteran.
