Underwater Humans

Deathstrike2Deathstrike2 Member UncommonPosts: 1,777

I've been playing Elfs, and this morning, I decided to make a human cleric.  Everything has been great up until I got a quest where I had to swim under water.  I loose oxygen like crazy, and am dead in a matter of seconds!  I never had this problem as an elf.   What are possible solutions to this problem?  Thank you!

Sounds like you have armor on.  That will make you lose breath very fast. Take it off before you go under, you will see a big difference.  Just make sure to put it back on when you get out :).

Until you can get an underwater breathing item my human friend that plays a cleric takes his armor off before going into the water. I asked why and he said something to which I forget, but he lives just fine.

Someone else can answer better than I can on why, but till then try taking your armor off, just that one slot, and see how it does.

That must be it.  I'm wearing half plate.  Thanks for the quick responses.  This has to be the best community I've dealt with in an MMO.  Very friendly and helpful!

the easy answer is the armor check penalty on halfplate is usually -9 I think.   That means while wearing it your suffer a 9 pt penalty on all your skills.   This includes swimming and jumping and why you should take it off if you need to make a big jump or swim for any length of time.   Getting mithral armor has lower armor check penalties which is one reason it is so desired.

Yeah, that worked.  I would have never thought of it though, because if you take it off, but are still carrying it, I would have assumed that you'd have just as much trouble.  Apparently, it only affects you when it's on you and not in your pack.  As far as the mithral armor, I have never even heard of it yet.  I'm still playing the trial, and using whatever drops I get.  LoL, I'm still trying to figure out what PP stands for in my money.  I'm guessing it's a higher form of curency than gold, but I haven't figured out how much gold = 1 PP yet.  I don't even know how much money I have.  Argh.

    Anywho, fun game :]
