McDonalds has also served over 500 billion hamburgers too. And a local ma & pa joint in my home town serves burgers with home baked buns, real hand pressed burgers over an open flamed grill, and french fries sliced by hand from locally grown potatoes. These burgers and fries are mouth watering statues of taste bud explosions and only for a small amount more then what McDonalds serves in their greasy wrappers and brown paper bags. I'd guess that this one local joint I speak of has served way less then 1% of the 5 local McDonalds close to me. So therefore the McDonalds burgers MUST be much better huh? Numbers mean EVERYTHING. 8 million people can't be wrong, right? McDonalds MUST make the best burgers in the whole damn world! Stop following all the blind sheep people. If you genuinely love WOW, great. But if WOW is the only MMO you've ever played, do yourself and the competition to Blizzard a favor. Try something else. You might be surprised.

Apples and ham sandwiches buddy. Apples and ham sadwiches. Totally unrelated. I dont think its a blind sheep phenominon. I realize now for most of the WoW bashers its simple a matter of prinicple. But If I have to read another bad anaolgy im gona cry.
Amen! I've found that most of the Wow Bashers on this site are Eve players, not sure why but apparently they have free time while they wait for their skills to improve
Speaking of waiting for skills to improve... Who is the bigger sucker? The player that can level their skills as fast or as slow as they want to or the player that has to wait days or weeks for their skills to improve?
I´ll be impressed when they start investing those 100s of millions of dollars they make per year into the game. Hell, just a small percentage they make hand over fist would be nice.
lol. Right on.
I'd be impressed if out of those 10k people in EVE I ever saw more than 6 at once.
Sorry, just had to say it.
And before someone says they are lying, its a press confrence. They released numbers like 2mil in america 1.5m in europe and 3.5m in asia. The rest are from everywhere else.
Just point out that you havent played eve then to say that. Also i guess you havent done any corp ways with 20 v 20 corp fleets or even the alliance battles the largest ive heard of was a 250 v 250.

Great, just a shame that the food franchise and gaming franchise are two complete seperate things, isn't it?
Good old WoW, the only game where I've had gingerbread cookies and candy canes in my inventory at the same time.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

herm...that bash was lame.
Anyway, Congrats on WoW for the 8 millions subscribers! it's a big milestone they attained :P Though I ain't one of them anymore, I wish them good luck for BC (and maybe they'll count me in later if I ever get tired of EQ2)
The jump form 7.5milion to 8 million in just a few months is probably due to the expansion, i know 5 people who came back a few weeks ago ready for the expansion.
I guess it will go even higher once the x-pac is out. No MMO last forever but right now WoW is riding high, all you haters have to do is wait.... about 5 years. And then you can start hating the next big MMO.
Hmm yeah should go upp a bit with the expansion, but in all it is probably expected it will drop below it's peak this year with the new mmorpgs that will inevitably attract some of WoW's subscribers. Of course nowhere near the millions of WoW especially as its doubtful any of the upcomming mmorpgs have a big success in Europe AND Asia, but it will take away some of their subscribers.
I guess all the people that were saying WoW was losing more subs then it was gaining were full of it. Gotta love poeple that talk out the side of thier mouth without any facts or decent evidence to base thier opinions on. I actually heard people that said WoW was gonna lose 2/3rds its player base in 12 months to Vanguard. LOL what a joke. Where do people come up with this stuff.
As far as WoW going over 8mil because of the expansion. Well actually blizzard announced over 8mil a month ago. I am guessing they will hit 8.5mil after the expansion release. Especially now that all the people holding out for Vanguard are so disenfranchised. Really sucks, I personally dont want to go back to WoW either. But I have been waiting for over a year now and still no decent MMO. Heck I am even willing to play something that is almost as good as WoW, just to play something different. Really is sad how terrible the MMO industry has become.
8 million anti-social 13-year olds, and twenty-somethings who act like 13-year olds. What an incredible achievement.
Congrats Blizz!
Indeed.. now excuse me I have to log into WoW and have some un-adulterated fun.... im sure you'll be loging in to DDO or what ever dead MMO you play, just hope some 1 else is online so you can chat about the war in Iraq with you 50 year old friends and about how the world was better 40 years ago when you were a kid.

No offense but if 8million people played eve...I would kill myself.
Because the world would be one F**KED up place.
Congrats. I'm a WOW player i'm 23. I'm in a guild with fifty two level 60's and none of us are playing any other game this year.
I guess those who think WOW will lose subscriptions to other games could be right, but not enough to put a dent to the subscription growth factor, which is borderline exponential.
Amazing how many smal minded peeps play the game. I played from server live for 12 months and must say it's too basic a game, graphics were average for a game of the time, bring most moronic idiots to a game due to the basic kiddy playstyle. Expansions, well damn its taken some time to get it out for an exp that truely doesnt offer that much imo.
It's only my opinion of the game, I also have played EQ1 since it started for 6 years, EQ2 since live and still going, Eve online 6 months (Interesting game, but was too busy elsewhere to get into it).
WoW wil prevail after the new MMO's come out this year, but they wil only really keep the players that can not handle a real death penalty system, and a tougher leveling system. I can see there servers being halved by end of year, which in a way could be a good thing, maybe now there might not be queues for the peeps left behind to get into world on the busy servers, Though I doubt they wil spend the cash on anything like that. One thing Blizz has been good at is not getting the servers sorted out and reducing the queues times for the players on certain servers. And at 15 bucks a month subs thats a crap load of cash per so called 8 million subs, so it should be alot better than it is.
WoW for me is a dead horse now, my warrior is retired for good and very glad to see the back of that game.
Bring on the new MMO's with a tougher game play for the players that like a real MMO.

You know what they always say, " Just start a new toon. Experience lvling from 1-60 all over again."

WTF is the point of this game, i heard kids talking about it in my school, "omfg i got a 60 w/e and i totaly pawn horde nubs lawls i is great" i tried the free trial, by the time i reached level 6... i learned what the point of this game is.... you click, it attacks it for you, u add skills to your hotbar, use them as soon as they recharge (button mashing 1337 skills needed), once ur finished killing these, u go get a quest for these and repeat the same process, i attempted to have a conversation with the group of people that play WoW, i got called a noob and long strings of words i cannot understand, but im pretty sure half of them were in orcish. Then one of my friends that played wow, told me wtf it is, u kill this, u get that, u level so u can kill this to get that, repeat, repeat, repeat, get enchants, repeat, repeat, repeat, whine that ur getting camped, repeat, repeat whining.

The world is surely coming to an end...
