Chat Bubbles?

I dont know about anyone else, but Chat bubbles are something so minor
but seem to add alot to the game atmosphere for me.  Seems like
something so simple to code in and easily made to be enabled/disabled
as to the players preference.  Whats your 2 cents?

So long as the "Chat Bubbles" could be disabled I really would not see any issue with having them as part of the game. To me they just seem a bit too cartoonish (if that's a word) but I do know many people like them and I can see where they might have some advantages in non-crowded areas. But for the most part my experience with them in other games has been more negative as they tend to crowd the screen and people use them for spam or text art most of the time.

I guess overall I would not see a reason to not have the option available, but it would have to be something that could be turned off with no ill effects to the player. I can also think of tons of better things the Devs could spend time implementing instead of it. image

Chat bubbles always take away from the game and atmosphere for me since they always pop up and block where I was about to click or some other annoyance. In towns or safe areas they are all right, but any place where you actually play the game they just get in the way view wise and mouse control wise.

No chat bubbles means no decent roleplaying, no mature community building, and mindless grinding, for the lack of something better to do.

The lack of chat bubbles has been a showstopper for me on D&D online, and I fear it will prevent me from playing Vanguard Saga of Heroes, too.

There is nothing more disheartening that walking into an inn full of people and not being able to start any conversation, because noone can tell who is talking to who.

Some examples of excellent use of chat bubbles: Neverwinter Nights, World of Warcraft, EQ2.

I don't understand how chat bubbles can be annoying to anyone (anyone interested in being able to talk to others in a MMORPG, at least), but a setting to allow hiding or showing them would fix that problem.
