Its really hard to think of any game with over 10 animated emotions. Ragnarok Online 2 is featuring 52 on release and more to come after, they stated only 36 for release.
It also has plenty of unique monsters on release
Ragnarok 2 Monster Attack Animations
After its first closed beta in december, its leveling equipment and unique upgrade system are in-game. As well as hundreds of unique visible equipment. It looks like when you keep your features list short, you can do them really well.

Currently Playing: Guild Wars 2
I think I shoulda been more specific and said unique. WoW re-uses the same animations in several emotions so really it only has around 20-30 actual unique animations.
Also you must be shitting yourself if you think Korean MMO's are "finally" adding the social frills of mainstream Western mmo's. What Ragnarok Online 2 offers for the social aspect is a perfected base social system based on its use in Ragnarok Online, the mmo built with community as the prime feature. Then from there build up for extra frills. What Western MMOs did was just slap the extra's onto a generic UI and setup then said they have community, but without the basic stuff it ends up making the community solo-centric. Meh your looking forward to the game, so I should view it as objectional.
Also where are the Rats, the Orcs, and the Goblins. The most generic monsters used in mmos. You cannot forget the games with 8 monsters, then re-use them with a different texture or size.

The emotes are impressive with their smooth animations and great concepts. My favorite is the dance and hadoken, but all of them are fun to watch.
Monster design, while varied over all, was flavored with the same quasi-childish artistic style that RO was. Perhaps this was for the best, since the players who enjoyed RO would enjoy RO II. What struck me as odd was the impression RO II leaves on me. Obviously they are targeting children with the artistic style they are using, but some of the issues discussed earlier in this thread are adult oriented.
Either way, the emotes are impressive. Hopefully the gameplay meets the same level of quality as RO II's blatantly visible high-production values.
This really doesn't have anything to do with the game, but the way America is going you should start protecting your manhood. Atleast here in California there is a severe lack of masculinity. Things like "metro-Sexual" and "emos" are really starting to run rampant. When you look how the country is developing, it is starting to look like a matriarchal society. From anthropology studies, usually a masculine culture is war centric, with a high sense of honor and duty; while a matriarchal society is more social and sex oriented. Actually there was a study done on the feminization of America. It concluded the benefits of a feminine society is that the citizens are easier to control, and with female hormones used in food alot, many of American men are actually being immasculated.
Still I agree, the game really lacks muscle and is someting I am disappointed about in the character development. However, the features are very promising, and the games actual art direction is pretty distinct when placed next to the fantasy games of the west. It also is kinda like the proof against alot of people's pre-judgements about Korean games; like the lack of community elements, the lack of customization, and the grind. Alot of just the small things in the game simply haven't been done in an mmo anywhere in the world, like its unique leveling and equipment systems.

Asian mmo's communities have always been #1... Lineage... Mabinogi... its all group based. Their society is based that way, its something they've always had in their mmorpgs. It sounds like your really looking forward to the game, but I really see nothing impressive in what you said. Everyone will most likely still look the same, the monsters, look like any other game. The graphics arent anything to write home about and personally I expect it to do no better than any other asian mmorpg that heads to america, grabs a few anime fans, lotsa little kids and a few others.
Edit:
Masculinity != cleanliness?
Metro-sexuals are just men who care about appearance, nothing more. Its just a way to describe guys who dress nicely, generally keep a nice looking house, and as a rule of thumb, make more money.
Emos, are a phenomenon aging from 15-22 and exist almost exclusivly in that age range, as after that they've either killed themselves, or grown up.
Matriarchal Society?? First off, that very idea doesnt have a clear definition and is still heavily theorized about, what we do know is that "matriarchies are most often agricultural societies," and that they aratriarchies are ,"on the social level, based on a union of extended clan." I dont understan how the rise of Emo's attributes to the Country deviding up into small 10-100 person self functioning families. Where the eldest female controls the valuables, and all political decisions are made by the family as a group...
Just incase your confused here is the article I read on the subject www.wunrn.com/news/01_29_06/013106_matriachial_society.htm
As for feminine society being more easy to control, Id love to see that research, cause in my experiences, educated females are impossible to control.
Finall, Female hormones in food... only in Milk Cows, and even that is frowned apon these days. It was kinda the cool thing to do back in 1993 when they first allowed it, but since they suspect it can lead to and increase in breast cancer for women who drink the milk, and other complications. No long term studies have been conducted to my knowlege. I could do some more looking through some databases at University, but I think google was enough for this case, Im just disagreeing with you on the forums, not writing a paper for my prof.
Oh and the Female Hormones information envirocancer.cornell.edu/Factsheet/Diet/fs37.hormones.cfm

quit being a pathetic fabboi, but just to get you to shut up;
Everquest (ONE, not even two)
Wolves
Lizard men
sharks
swordfish
bunch of other fish
birds
bandits
clockworks (robot looking things, RO2s look almost like copy and paste job)
drakes
dragons
rats
rock monsters
raptors
giants
ogres
goblins
spectres
EQ2
bugs (beetles, etc)
frogs
crabs
an a bunch of other crap
I didnt even finish watching that stupid video btw....couldnt bother after watching the 4th weaponless monster attack by jumping up in the air and hurling its whole body at an invisble wall
"OMFG, Everquest has lizardman, RO2 has lizardman,so they must be the same!!111" is not going to work. they look completely diffrent.
I'm going to have to totally agree with what gameloading has said..
Ohh and back to the player models.. well there's going to be 3 playable race's, one of them.. the Dimago's is more musculant, taller, etc etc... they even said the design was aimed toward the western players. Lol and some of you guys are complaining about the norman race looking to chibi... wait till you see Ellr I personally love the way RO and RO2 look..
Rated "nR" for "no Retards", so you have to stay out!
I'm complaining about the norman race that it looks childish... I have no problem with the Ellr, because it's not a human race and it's meant to be that way...
On a side note though, if I were to play, I'd probably play the Ellr... I like playing the little guys haha ( but then they also happen to be the magic guys like the TaruTaru, and I always play mages )
Btw- when I talked about masculinity, I meant to imply also grittiness that westerners are used to and like... Versus Asian culture in some places are more metrosexual (e.g. japan)...
I watched it in its entirety and aside from a few unique designs, such as the small piglet creatures, everything else was mediocre. Asian Themed MMOs are not known for uniqueness anyway, their strength is in the social community as mentioned by Clefty above.
The originality of the lizardman concept is inconsequential. Im sure it has been done before, and it will be done again.
