Earth Eternal - New Browser Based MMO in Development

theanimedudetheanimedude Member UncommonPosts: 1,610

I just found this on one of the many gaming news websites I read, and through it looked pretty interesting.

The game is being developed by a company called Iron Realms, and they happen to develop many great text-based MUDs that have a realy great reputation (apparently this game has something in common with HJ then).

Either way, the game is supposed to be 3D, and browser-based, so as far as I can see, it looks like a good time-passer while you're sitting at the office with nothing to do (besides work, but I mean, who does that? honestly!) other than twiddle your thumbs.

The game was only announced oh... yesterday, so there's not all that much, but if anyone wants to snoop around the net a bit for some more info, i'm tired, so i'm not going to =D

Happy hunting, and hopefully we will have a nice new little game to spend time on at work now, god knows I will never play runescape or one of those other wastes of time, I would rather work or something xD

Happy Hunting everyone!

hmmm I wonder if they're going to go that whole raiding route.... or follow their roleplay-iness.

edit: I mean their version of role play with the whole city state type thingy....

/me cries it'll probably be ruined by runescape people....  maybe it'll turn them into roleplayers :D

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

Ive been playing Iron Realm's games for along time. They are a really great company. The games they make are chock full of stuff that I don't usualy like in games, but they do it in such a way that I still always enjoy them. Like roleplaying. I've never been into that sort of thing, but they do it in such a way in their games, that it makes you want to, and you enjoy it. Also, Achaea was the first mud I ever played, and since then I have tried to find other muds to play, but none ever hold my intrest at all.

Now I see this 'Earth Eternal' stuff. And while it looks like something I would normal steer VERY clear of, because its Iron Realms, I'm gonna go ahead and follow this one, and give it a try or two.

I was filled with obscene amounts of joy when I learned of Iron Realms' newest MUD, and how their ingenius game structures would finally be accompanied by graphics! Iron Realms never ceases to surpass all my expectations. Jubilations and immediate instant messaging of fellow roleplayers ensued. Reading all the sites info, I was overjoyed to learn that it would be everything I look for in an MMO. Roleplay, imaginative design, non-constricting free-roam environment... I suppose only time will tell if Earth Eternal will deliver.

I was, however, a little bit worried... Looking at the site, it became apparent that this game, intentionally or not, was pretty much designed  with furries in mind. For anyone who doesn't know what a furry is, you're better off consulting a reputable website, as many, many people on this great internets of ours seem to loathe furries for no particular reason. Now, personally, I don't have anything against furries, mostly because I'm a furry myself. However, I am forced to wonder how many people will be turned off to this game merely because of the high level of furry fanbase it will inevitably accquire. Surely it won't be too much of an issue, but still... One would never expect a huge company like Sony to bring themselves to their knees in a matter of a month or two, and that undeniably happened.

The point is, we can never tell just how drastic a seemingly small issue will become. Perhaps it won't make any difference at all, and I'm delving too deep into it. I mean, I am by no means suggesting that they alter this game. I love the idea of a largely furry Roleplay MMO! I'm just wondering how many people will share my celebrations, and how many will reject it.

    Your thoughts, MMORPG.com ?

I used to play Achaea and I think is the best game I've ever played. I stopped since it was getting too addictive and time consuming.

If Iron Realms can manage to keep the feeling that their MUDs give with this new graphical game, it will rock... if not it will suck.

I mean, they said: "it will be something close to Wow or Runescape" that is not very good... specially about the runescape part.

I guess this game is directed to a totally different kind of people, younger and with less joy for rp'ing, this will be like just another bashing game, for powergamers, I will try it out because I'm curious how will IRE make it unique... if they can. And I mean about gameplay and social interaction, not about graphics and furry stuff.
