I have to like this game, I have no choice

I've been waiting 5 years for another Everquest, and spending brief periods of time on "in-between" MMORPG's like WOW, DAOC and a few others.

But Vanguard is the only "serious" MMORPG coming out.  Sure, there's WOW, but I already get the cartoon channel on my cable package.  No need for WOW; it's gone to the kiddies anyway.

I have high hopes for Vanguard, and trust they will fix their bugs and give us a serious immersive game.

    What game would you suggest?

No, I think you've got a point Fugnutz.  As the latest MMORPG.Com podcast indicates, WoW is really the cheap fast food of MMORPG, 8 million served but it's not quality dining.  Vanguard, despite being a buggy pile at times, does have that fine dining thing going for it.  It's just a pity you need a silver spoon (read: a pretty up to date system) to enjoy it, and also that they'll still be picking flies out of the soup after you purchase it (read: it'll be buggy even after release).

Me and my trouble with analogies.  Seriously, I enjoy Vanguard.  I've only made two posts, and they've both been about that.

I hear you.  Well, I'll watch the forums another week before pre-ordering.   I intend to give Vanguard a try, but if it doesn't do it for me, then maybe I'll head back to good old EQ.

Hopefully you have a machine that can run it.  I've been in beta for quite a while and haven't been able to test it longer than 15 minutes without the graphics going haywire.

I cancelled my CE pre-order yesterday, but if you've been hanging out for a replacement for EQ for 5 years Vanguard will probably do it for you.

I won't be playing at launch because I don't see it being ready and the problems that remain are such that I know I wouldn't enjoy it. The game isn't all bad and has a lot going for it and in six months time will probably rock.

I like how it is shaping up. Mobs are tougher now, all the finishing touches are going in and performance is better than ever. I got 26 fps last night whereas I started out at 4 fps, got to 14 fps with morts tweaks and has steadily gone up to last night getting 26 average fps. On highest quality with morts tweaks.

It's definitely harder now, but I don't mind a challenge as long as it feels right. Vanguard feels more right every patch and I finally got off my butt and got the pre-order on friday night from EB. I can't play much anymore, but what time I have to play video games I would rather play Vanguard than any other MMO, online game. Even my xbox 360 with brand new gears of war from christmas is sitting there collecting dust, except for a good hardcore new years day session with my roomate.

Vanguard is addictive just like UO, EQ and SWG was for me. There will be bugs after launch, don't get me wrong. I can put up with them though for a game like this.

You know, that may be the single most stupid post I've ever seen from Fanboy, Hater, or Inbetween.

I understand the desperation to play something all to well. But I just don't want to commit to this game for a long term relationship.  Most think the game will be better in 6 months, I think Sigil's 6 month forecast is that PC part prices will come down some in 6 months and throwing newer hardware at bad code will fix people's issues as they will upgrade anyway more then likely. This works for most but I already have a top of the line system that can play this game at 60fps on highest quality 100% grass density, shadows, 8 lights, volumetric clouds, etc without any tweaks and the game justt doesn't have the "hook".

People using maturity and kids play so and so game, are just making excuses. The fact is if you can't make it in a kids game, don't delude yourself that your level 10 for 2 months because this game is harder, more challenging and adult oriented. The truth is you just suck as a player and can't stand kids playing better then you.
