Xbox 360 reaches 10,000,000 sales! (10mil)

The Xbox 360 reached their 10 million sale mark. Not so bad, only 15 days past their goal date.

    Hmmm NPD reported that as of Dec 31st Xbox360 had sold 4.5 million xbox360's in the US of A.. No matter how hard I try i really cannot imagine them selling another 5.5 million in the other markets in which they are MUCH MUCH weaker...

    That seams much more plausable to me..
    Ya I am gonna have to side with VGcharts.org on this one...I love my 360 and my Wii but these numbers just seem more plausible than that of Nexgenwars.com despite the latter apparently favoring the 360 and Wii over the PS3.

    Yeah I know ... i mean if Nintendo shipped 4 million and is now 500k under the shipped amount when they have been SOOo frickin hott with the Wii..



    I find it immeasurably hard to assume that Xbox360 has sold all but 400k (according to MS's 10.4 shipped number) Consoles.. when i can find 50 ft tall stacks of 360's everywhere..

    i dont think so mate, we all know the ps3 will sell more than the xbox 360 once it has a european release.

    i admit i am looking at getting a 360 at the moment, mainly cos of the price. but dont be kidding yourself, the ps3 will sell by the lorry load. and i will be buying a ps3 in time as well, well once the price is lowered.

    yea, i meant that more of a tongue-in-cheek kind of comment.  Still, it does have a (small) effect on this hddvd vs bluray -war, since biggest customers for both are young men.

    Seriously, i think that in the long run, they both, bluray and hddvd will fail because of on-demand internet delivery HD movies. Lets face it, disc media is getting old and going out of style, this is allready happening in music industry.

    I have to say I'm glad.  I have been burned by Sony in the past.  SWG, root kit, crappy products (not tv's), and just generally shoved away as a consumer.  I work for a living and I have cash to spend, I used to spend it on Sony products I do not now.  Though I do play EQ2......



    All in all I'm glad Microsoft's Xbox 360 is doing well in the world.  We will have to see how it stands againts the 360 when some time has passed. 



    I also feel slightly dubious towards Microsoft as a software maker.  Console wise I have no qualms, but Windows software I'm not a fan of.





    Edit: the porn industry makes 58 billion a year...

    What is bad for Sony is that they do have system's but no one wants one. I've seen at least 6 at Best Buy, Target, and wal-mart.

    I wouldn't say that the porn industry siding with HD-DVD rather than blueray will only have a small affect on the market...just look at who the porn sided with in the VHS/Beta Max(I think that's what it was called) war.

    Aside from that though, indeed, who cares?  Microsoft counts units shipped to retailers but not necessarily sold to customers as "sold"  so that number is extremely misleading, especially considering the fact that every electronic store in the world has a giant pyramid of xbox 360's sitting on the floor.  I am no ps3 fanboy, I'm just being realistic here.

     

    On the pluss side of the ps3 though:  Sony says that the console will have a 10 year lifespan, so you may end up getting a good value for your dollar afterall, even if the launch lineup sucked ass.

     

    But aftering reading through EGM today, I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to avoid buying a 360 within the next year or so...there are just too many cool games coming to the console that aren't coming to the Wii.  I'm very much satisfied with my Wii, but I'm also realistic on the third party support that Nintendo traditionally recieves.

    In other words no I don't know why Pyro and Methane find sales figures so important that they need to be repeatedly posted.

    Yea you really needed to define what 10,000,000 meant on your topic because i wouldn't have gotten it without you brilliant use of the abbreviation (10 mil)

    Besides Xbox 360 has been out for a year, you can't compare it to the PS3 yet, tell me again in a year if PS3 hasn't reached 10......mil!
