the Which Trial Method do you Prefer and Why Poll

ginettiginetti Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 301

When trying out a new game that has already gone live, which method would you, or do you prefer:

Personaly, i prefer restricted to newbie zones, as that would give me the chance to try out every race and class at my leisure, without worring about time restrictions.

And i can always ask advice of higher lvl characters at any time.

What about you, and why?

PS: if you have a differnt idea or method for a trial, i'd love to hear it.

Cheers,

Ginetti.

deffinitely time based, this way i can see the game for what it is.  From start up to mid game, this way i can see if the game is actually gonna last longer then the trial.

This is true, but definatly not suited to those who love MMORPG's but have other commitments.

Those with plenty of time on their hands will certainly get the most out of time based trials.

I tried EQ2's Play the Fae. I liked it, to an extent. If I had more time to play it, I might have been convinced to buy. As it turned out, though, I only really got to play for about two of the seven days, for about six hours total, which is not really long enough to form an opinion. They should have set a total hour limit, rather than starting a clock which ends a set time after your first play session.

The only remotely compelling trial I've seen is the one offered by Dofus. I was so close to purchasing the full version of that game, but a few things stopped me.

Level based, ie: cannot go past lvl 10, definately.

EQ2 trial was misleading on the little island since you don't see how the game really played off the island. Play time based trials sometimes end before you get into the game, especially if you have to go afk randomly when you are testing it.

Usually time based, unless I don't have so much time to play pc game.
