quick, neutral questions, if they bother you don't post please :)

hey guys, i'm pretty new on the conan scene so bear with me :)

i was just wondering a few things, AoC reminds me alot of L2 in terms of their class system and PvP, but, will it retain the grindy-texture that came along with it?

also, having not read the books or anything, will i still be able to keep up alot in game? would it be like playing WoW w/o WCIII or SWG w/o watching SW? or will it be a more intesnse fan-based community?

also, any hint at how large the world will be? WoWs was rather small, SWGs was huge, but mostly vacent.

any help would be nice! thank you thank you!

EDIT: also, can somebody link me the rec. specs? are they out yet?

First off, it's nice to see more and more people expressing interest in AOC. Second... go to the library and get a book of Howards. Look online, there is alot of material out there to read. The nice thing is his stories are short and sweet. So don’t sweat a huge monotonous read. The game is based on the time where Conan has been king awhile and the other groups are trying to get control. Lots of dynamic stuff going on. Conans world is huge, and Funcom does a great job of making big worlds. I don’t think you will find much L2 here. Sure you have all your general fantasy classes and archetypes, but this world will be gritty and skills will be more interesting and unique than L2. Combat is dynamic not click and forget, magic will have consequences and may rend your soul apart. Npc's and mobs will build their cities and compete with you for resources. You won’t have to know Conan lore to play the game though. You will determine your own destiny in the world. Lots of great resources for the game and the writings of Howard out there.

The stories are short and bloody, in other words pretty frickin cool, hehe. But if your not into the story or into roleplaying i think you will be ok. THe lore controls the backdrop of the game and some of archtype/ race choices but i'm pretty sure half the people there wont know the lore. Sadly most people only know Conan as a movie star and not a dark fantasy icon

Hmmm alot of also if you ask me hehehe. The Requirement Specs are not out but I can tell you that it will be your average minimum requirements for other games. You do not have to be in any way affiliated with Howard's writtings at all. Although it would give you a slight advantage in knowledge and in what the three races in AoC would bring forth. If you have any more questions, be more than happy to post and we'll answer ^_^.
