Should I get this?

Hi, I'm thinking about buying this but I'm kinda on the fence because I dont wanna go out and waste my money on a game that has a small player base, hackers/cheaters and endless grinding. If someone could tell me that all my concerns are bs I would really appreciate it.

small player base in UO depends on which shard your on. I play on Atlantic but I still feel like I am playing bymyslef at times. It's easy to make friends in this game though when your a newbie because when you start your character your chareacter has [NEW] next to it's name and alot of people will help you out. Download ICQ because you cant send messages ingame so people use ICQ as their message service. Cheats/Exploits Well it isn't that bad but we do have alot of scripters and dupers currently but the DEVS seems to be taking care of em.  Grind? Depends on what a grind is to you. No levels in UO means typically no grind. Overall when someone new comes into the game it feels really big and confusing at first. But after your character goes over the boring hump you start to enjoy it alot more since you can Take part in live events, PvP, DOOM, Factions (gonna get changed), Save up to buy a house, RP(it is actually fun taking part in the rp community in Atlantic at times) I mean the game gets dull time to time but it's a MMO they all get dull and boring. For me I like what UO offers I played DnD oriental adventures as a kid so I love the fact they added samurai and ninjas to the game along with a asian themed land. For me this is just my game and ill be here till EA decides to pull the plug.  Also UO is what you make of it. Like for example when I get enough time I want to start a semi rp/pvp all ninja guild. I have alot of plans for it so I am always busy killing things to save up to buy a big plot in Fel.  Hope this helps

I Agree UO has one of the most vast and diverse landmasses in any MMO the addition of the more recent lands and dungeons has opened up a great new set of adventures. If ya decide to play and are trying to decide on a server   go with one that has a lower ping rate combined with either the higher or lower population your looking for. if your on the west coast  hop on the pacific shard  and drop me a message here i'll be happy to  give you a tour, some items,   and help ya get started in the world of Sosaria.  cheers!

UO is a great game, very addictive, perhaps, to addictive :P

But yea, if you want an active/popular shard, try Atlantic, Pacific or Europa.

Europa is based in the UK, Atlantic is on the East coast of the USA and Pacific is on the west coast.

Choose one that's closest to you, to keep lag to a minimum.

ahh, this game is magic.  I sure do miss it.  I will most likely pick the expansion up and play again once the new Kingdom Reborn expansion goes live.  We only can hope that this will bring UO back to "life" for more of a newer player base.  So many people have no idea what a MMo can be capable of, at least until they play UO.  Worried about leveling?  Psh, throw that out, just sick back, play and quest around with some friends and you'll be GMx7 faster than you think.  Don't feel like killing for no reason?  DO a treasure hunt, you get awsome money, some good loot, and of course you can always go to the tavern and talk about it.  Want some relestate?  Not a problem either, design ANY house you have on mind, decorate it how you want and show it off to your friends and other.  Feel like turning your house into a mall?  No problem, buy some vendors and sell the items that you get on some treasure hunts.  In UO you don't need quests to have fun.  All you need to do to have fun is log on and message some of your buddies.  I can't wait to get back into this game this spring.

The new client does look pretty cool

I just hope it's not just a new coat of paint, as UO still has the age old problem with bugs, some have been around for a while

Not to mention the Virtues, which remain unfinished

    Hey Guys

UO was the first ever mmorpg i played, i was introduced to it by my older brother who used to play along with his best bud, hed use me to sit and get his fishing skill to GM by doing the same command over and over again lol>< eventually he got me my own account and i really got into it. The amount of activities there are to do is amazing i could sit on this game for hours on end and not get bored, i stopped playing a couple years back and got into 'World of Warcraft wich ive been playing for gone 2 years now, and ive come to find the game so boring and repetative, doing the same thing over and over agiain, its so predictable, the people are just in it for themselves and arent willing to help anyone out, ye sure ive met a few good people but most are immature children, from what i remember i dont have any memories of arrogance in UO. So ive order the ultima online 9th edition box set thingy magig wich should arrive tommorow  and decided to get back into the game wich made me love mmorpg's, i have countless memories of my UO experiances wich i joke about with an old freind i used to play with  wich from warcraft i dont have.Ive played numerous mmorpg's such as UO, wow, city of heroes, anarchy online, dark age of camelot, star wars galaxies, final fantasy online, and guild wars but none are no where near as fun and uniquely original as UO.

Will be brilliant to get back into it and start exploring the new areas and skillz.

id reccomend this game to anyone looking for decent mmorpg.
