WOW (Burning Crusade) is killing my game, how about yours?

Ever since Burning Crusade opened up my population in the MMORPG im playing has hit a alltime low. Im wondering if its the same with other MMORPG's out there.. Please don't lie due to the fact that you hate WOW or whatever, this is not a post to praise or bash WOW.

People can bash WOW all they want but its obvious they have done something right. It might not be the best at one thing, but it is the best overall. To quote a famous rapper "Men lie, women lie, numbers don't".

Sadly it looks like that if I wan't to play a Massive Multiplayer game, im going to have to go back to WOW...

This is a new tactic.  Bashing a game when you don't even know what game it is.......

Yeah it did. DAOC is officialy in a coma, borderline comatose.

But I'm happy because the game was getting old anyways and now i can play wow...a superior game in every sense of the word.

    Thanks for the info.

I'm playing Planetside right now, and we had about 8 people online on our Empire late last night lol.. I would call that official dead as well.

It has been roughly two years since WoW hit shelves.  Considering the number of subscribers on this board who said "I'll be back when the expansion hit", I am not surprised at all.  I guess people were hiding out in other less popular MMOs waiting on TBC.

Also, be warned, the amount of new content took up another 4 discs.  There is a lot of new stuff that will occupy most players who were "bored" for many months, even those who were "sick and tired of running naxx, mc, bwl, etc".  All of the old content has been pretty much made obsolete, save a few dungeons.

Not much drop in EVE cluster population right now.  23k online at the moment about normal for this time of the evening.  At about 9pm (2hrs from now) it should be up around 27/28k on a weeknight.

Yeah WoW must be doing something right...Mostly what they did is made the game Playable and less complex next to other MMO's welcoming newcomers/youngsters wich is why you see alot of youngsters...Also the system requirements are pretty low allowing people who cannot afford/dont want to uprade their system allowed to play also..Very few MMO's will acutally be as easy/low requirements as WoW.....Personally WoW is a decent game i have a 60 warrior but with the release of BC getting to 70 will just be a pain in the arse so i canceld my account...Call me lazy but i was just playing WoW to kill some time waiting for other MMO's I.E Vangaurd/LOTR/WAR

Have to be honest, and no I'm not bashing the game. Planetside gets boring quite quickly. Problem is it doesn't offer anything new, its just a lot of repetition, mainly because the bases are all the same, tactics can be interesting, but there is a lot more solo fighting, rather then tactics played by most of the players.

It can be fun from time to time, but gets boring for many people really fast. Once that Reserve trial thing is over, they'd better have another thing planned, cause the population will go down less then 50% of what it currently is.

    Have to put something up!

EVE's population hasn't budged by a statistically relevant amount.

This expansion will be short lived, people are rushing through the content, level 65+s are becoming more and more common.

People will soon play all the new instances and be bored again.

EQ2 is doing fine. All but 4 servers are Heavy atm like always at this time.

I haven't noticed too much of a difference on DDO...Fernia is still moderately populated as always.

I wouldn't give up on your MMO just yet. Those who have left WoW before will probably get their fill of the new content fairly quick and wander again.

SWG has a severely low population but it's still going. I would consider this more of a bump than all out armageddon for your favorite MMO. Give it a couple of months and you'll see the population come back.

That is, unless something else launches in that time frame.

Too true. EVE is more like a MMOFlight Sim. I wonder if it's right to really compare it to WoW, or consider it a part of its own genre.

I've resubbed to WoW to fiddle with the expansion but I only play a little during the day.  I also play CoX and, strangely, Virtue seems about the same as usual on the hero side but CoV seems almost a wasteland on the same server.

There is a bright side to it.  If you stick to whatever game you are playing and the players come back after they get bored with WoW:BC you will be way ahead of them. (as far as levels, money, power w/e)

Yeah this guy is a joke... Calling WoW superior to Dark Age just prove he hasn't played it much. I don't see in which way WoW beats Daoc beside the leveling grind. PvP (RvR) is BY FAR superior in Daoc. Crafting is BY FAR superior and more meaningfull in Daoc. I won't get into the community, but same can be applied. Much less of idiotic kids running around in Daoc. Want me to continue?

No need. Everybody with half a brain would knew that it's just the name and marketing/publicity that puts WoW ahead of Daoc, not it's superior game play. If you would had called Daoc "World of Warcraft" with the same feature Daoc offers, it would be just as high in subscribtion, but at least: For the right reasons.

What deserves to be done, deserves to be "well" done...

If you want to know the truth, WoW players are hating it as well.

I MIA'ed from my guild for about a month until TBC came out because everyone in the entire freaking game was just simply Battlegrounds all the way, which I hate.

I came back now that TBC is out, expecting some fun. The first day, we ran Hellfire Citadel like 12 times, great new instance. Can't wait for the next.

Heres the problem though. If you're NOT in an instance, life is hell. The two new racial areas are packed full of new players. Any boss mobs or special items you need to collect take FOREVER because the 10 year olds camp them, whether they need the item or not.

Once you get to Outlands, first of all your framerate will drop by half. The fact that they opened the sky and made the areas more large and open does nothing but kill the framerate. I used to run WoW on full settings 24bit x 24bit at 4x multisample. Now, I have to run everything at low settings, except texture res, and run at 1x multisample. It's horrible.

Not to mention EVERYONE is grinding the quests hardcore, so anything you need is just impossible.

Frankly, I am MIA'ing again for another month for things to die down a bit =/

EDIT: Forgot to mention the fact that EVERY server has a queue of around 300 people at all times. That's like 15 minutes just to get INTO a game, where you're just going to be waiting for people not to KS everything from you. -.-

My server doesn't have a que, its a medium population (burning blade)

however the server has been acting retarded ever since TBC came out. As i'm typing this the instance I was in crashed :/

Well judging by the responses I guess its just the game I play (Planetside) thats dying off.

Oh well guess its back to consoles or Multiplayer FPS games untill something good comes out. Sad thing is that I remember saying the same exact thing last year this time.....
