Ok. Its either WoW or Lineage 2....
But WoW doesn't take that long to reach lvl max, and not that long to get the best gear. After I get that done I might cancel my subscription...
But Lineage 2 takes... forever to get both. ALTHOUGH WoW may be more fun to reach that lvl in some ways...
Both games have friends on them...
But I like hard core games.
Also Lineage 2's next expansion will have lots of more to do than it does now (besides train/raid/ect.)
What is there to do in lineage 2 besides train and stuff... What could make me choose L2 more. Because I DO want to play lineage 2 more... just don't know if it will last. Because I know WoW will probably end sooner.
PLUS Lineage 2 is grabbing more people. ^_^
WHAT I LIKE:
Hardcore
Co-op community
Dungeons/raids
Events
Fun FUN
Addicting ^_^

Shall you click mindlessly for months to achieve a reasonable PvP level?
Id go with WoW.
Although it ultimatly depends on what your view is of point and click, grinding MMOs. If you dont mind grinding the same mob a few thousand times to level up, L2 is not a bad choice.
Take it from me. Raiding in WoW to get epics isnt all that much. People make it out to be so hard and tedious, but ive been raiding in WoW for awhile to tell you that its fairly easy. Since there are anywhere from 10-25 people in a raid (since BC) Its actually easier to obtain gear. Plus, you ultimatly only have 1 role per class in PvE raiding, its all pretty simple (Other than boss strategies, although those are pretty easy too )
The high level pvp on l2 is great, and you can't find that level of fun anywhere else; however, the issue is that until you get there, get ready for many many months of the most tedious grinding imaginable, on an economy thats been broken by the chinese. Money is extremely hard to come by, and with the economy as is, many of the higher level legit players openly admit that if your starting a new character, you might aswell ebay to get you started, its gotten so bad at lower levels.
L2 was designed as is to be only for hardcore players, its the only game i know where you can actually lose money grinding; What makes it so bad now is that because of the chinese, artifically gained adena has flooded into the economy, so its very difficult for a legit player to play the economy and the player shops now. I don't know if they ever actually stopped the chinese farmers, but when i quit last year, the bots were everywhere, even in towns, always farming materials and money, or deleveling, and the chinese controlled a castle on my server, and pked anyone that came into thier hunting grounds or around raids they were farming. I tried making a new character after a long time away on a diffrent server, but i saw so few other players it felt like a single player game.
Essentially you need to ask yourself how much trouble you are willing to go through to get to the good parts of the game, because if your not planning on ebaying, 95% of your first 3-4 months is going to be the most tedious, mind numbing trash you've ever played. 3-4 months assuming you play it all the time, as much as possible, 6+ hours a day atleast. If you can only play for a few hours a day or just plan on playing casually, it can take you over half a year to get high enough to actually start to see the better things the game has to offer.
Now i havn't played it in quite awhile, if ncsoft actually got rid of all the chinese and new players are comming it, the lower level grind won't be nearly as bad, you will have to ask someone who is still playing. I really doubt ncsoft will ever stop them though, because the chinese were around even back around launch time, and they have been gaining momentum and numbers ever since, to the point where they were when i quit, close to complete domination of the economy. All mmo's have to deal with farmers and online currency sellers, but lineage 2 is a good example of what happens when the farmers arn't kept in check for years, they start to take over. If ncsoft is truely making good head way against them, then more power to them, but its impossible to ever undue the economical damage they have done without a complete server wipe at this point, even if the chinese were all banned from the NA/EU servers.
Lineage 2 is about clan politics and pvp(castle sieges)
WoW is about quests and raids
They are both good games, if you like pve wow is my advise, if you want pvp and entrigue go to L2
I think I may choose lineage 2... but I don't know.
I want a game that will last for along time.
I just had to post because I fell in love with your Wow/LOTR signature, it hits the spot so well I can't believe. Haven't even played wow in a year but it still got into the point of MMOs pretty well.
I would only reccomend L2 if the friends you have on there are willing to help you out. Otherwise you will probably end up frustrated trying to catch up to them and get to the PvP content.
I recently took a trip back to L2 for two months. I had the good fortune of running into a drunken level 70 who generously gave me some cash to get rolling with at level 20. This helped me get my foot in the door; he gave me 600k. I had already played a spellsinger to 44 so I knew how to spend that money.
Within 6 weeks, I was a level 61 rolling in the dough. Overnight shops in Giran allowed me to make over a million adena per night buying and reselling crystals. My clan leader had spare caster gear in the clan warehouse so he hooked me up with that and some cash. I repayed him by supplying the clan with a ventrilo server and thanks to the gear loan, I was able to not only buy my own armor, but repay my debts aswell. In general, I felt that people were much kinder than what I was used to and they made the world go round. Undoubtably, without the help of the people I played with, I would not have made it as far as fast. Unfortunately, my 2 rl friends playing with me lost interest because one is generally not a team player and the other started late and didn't want to catch up. The clan I was in helped me get on my feet but could do nothing more. I was ready for some real clan activity but only a handful of players were hardcore. Only 2 major english speaking alliances left little choice in terms of serious players to be with and I was not up at all for the task of running my own clan after having run a raiding guild in WoW for a year and a half.
Cliff notes:
- Since the economy has shifted from D grade/ C grade to B grade / A grade it is very hard to start out without the help of an established player.
- Make sure you play on a server that has what you are looking for in terms of community, especially end game.
Lineage2 is an awsome game. (i've been playing since C1)
The world of Aden and Shuttgarth is so beautiful and every update makes it friendlier for newcomers.
There are 10 servers to choose from at this time and 2 of them is EU servers. The newest of them all is Franz.
Franz has been there since september only and the average population are in the mid game lvls.
There are many ways to enjoy the game pre end game. Raiding starts already after the first class change which is at lvl 20 (1 day of game play if you go for it). There are tons of ways to make money in the game aswell so it's never impossible to be in good gear for your grade.
Some people says that pvp doesnt start untill in end game (except for sieges) but that is not true.. people just don't pvp cause they fear losing experience from death penalty wich imo enourages pvp at lower lvl since you get the exp you lose back in a few minutes at lower lvl. So just go bash who ever you want and take the consequenses xD
An important thing to make it a funny and interesting journey is to find a good group of people to play with. Best is to get a bunch of irl friends to start with simoultaneously. Cause it's not a single player game and partying is fairly rewarded.
Also, don't stare at the exp bar. It just makes the game boring cause it is true, the journey is long.
if you play the game as a game and just enjoy you're way through it and play LEGIT, the game will last forever and never get boring.
But it's like every other game. It's what YOU make it.. play it like a game and not like a job.
Go ebay and bot if you want, but the game wont last and you will only experience the very surface of it.
There is ALOT to read about the game and i suggest you lurk on the official L2 site/forums and read up on the classes and servers. To get a hint what it is all about.
Good luck and hope you choose L2 instead of that colorspew that wow is

I have played both actually. So I know a bit about them, but I never got far in either of them... Thus I needed more information. And I think you guys have convinced me to choose Lineage 2. Although I am still kind of wondering if there is more to do in the game then just train and raid... Like WoW has prefessions and really good quests. Are lineage 2's quests JUST plain and simple kill x amount of this and bring back x amount of this? And deliver x amount of this? That isn't to cool... at all. But if the rest pays for it, its cool.
Awards get way better too offcourse. Like there is many ppl that craft all their B grade from quest gained materials recipes and so on.
I admit starter quests arent any exciting at all. But as i said, it get alot better imho.
Choosing your quest carfully late ron can give you nice economic advantages and nice gear too.
Fishing is fun aswell and there are nice markets for fishing materials (depending on server).
Then you can grow pets too. The first is at lvl 15 then they keep adding new pets that yuo can get like lvl 25, 28 and so on.
Don't worry about the low lvls. You get past the first 25 fairly fast with all the help new characters get now in C5 And not to mention all the help herbs that drop gives you!. Leveling has never been easier.

donnot play lineage2! i played l2 for about 12, 13, 14 months and quit... quit long time ago about 2 years ago
lineage2 is curupted!!!! 99.9% no legit players! farmers botters run the game! insane economy! they set the price and everyone follow! many ebayers! the game force people to ebay! and u cannot compete with an ebayers or a regular person botter! most of botters work for a gold selling site do i dont care if i cant surass them... but to a regular player botting... u kno them since the befinning lv1 now they surpass u by using bot and ebay! insane economy!!! cant keep up!!! some of my buddy still play and theres lesser people now!!! most the time all the servers are light! exept for euro server but most server less people! its dead! deserted! the only ones left and stay is either rich people thaat can ebay their ass withut worring about money or botter that farms for living. all the full-fledge ligit player like me all have left!
unless u playing on a non retail server anyway the game itself kindda suck! less skill moves... all u do is swing with soulshots
what kept me playing is the extremely sexy female charecters.... upskirts! thongs! bend over command! light elf get hurt sound like a japanese porno! but somehow i see the light and quit l2... its not worth to stay
remember people can be deceiving.... ingame they always try to say they r legit and always be telling people to go frind if want money..... like saying its easy to make money from doing legit hunting.... and they try to defend when people saying l2 is hard to make money etc.... but when they in closed do0rs.... they to0k off their mask! they no legit! they bot! they ebay! i kno this! believe me!
My advise is don't bother playing LA2, too many chinese farmers, castle seiges are grim and unwieldly, grind fest all the way, and there are much better games coming out soon.

He said he liked hard core . Actually if you removed the botters/farmers then L2 wouldn't be a bad game if you don't mind the grind. Apparently NCSoft had started to come down hard on the cheats/farmer recently, or so I've heard. Why now, after all this time, I don't know. But as you say better games coming and I wouldn't go back although I enjoyed it when I played it, apart from the aforementioned botters/farmers but way back at launch griefing them became a game unto itself.

I guess the word "farmers" is becoming taboo now, but he has the right to know what they have done to l2; They have went unchallanged and ran rampant so long in l2 that they nearly have complete domination of the economy, and prices have gotten so inflated that its become extremely difficult to get started, forcing you to ebay just to get through the boring and tedious low levels at a decent speed. They are everywhere, you can't take a few steps in any hunting ground really, even the lower level ones, without seeing them all over the place. They have turned an economy that was already anti-new player into an atrocity, and thats why l2 hasn't been able to keep new players. They play for a month or two and leave, because the bots are everywhere and ncsoft won't get rid of them.
Like i said, end game content in l2 is great, but everything else is trash, tedious, and mostly very boring. I suppose i should mention the secound class change quests...your first time doing it, your going to be lost because of horrible translation, and it could take you up to 2 weeks to just complete it. That alone makes alot of people quit, because its so insanly tedious, and the quest asks you to travel all over the world, so you either spend hours on end just running from point a to b, or you use all of your hard earned adena porting back and forth over and over. And after all that, you have todo 2 more on top of it.
I think they have a trial right now for 7 days if you can stand to use fileplanet; You'll get to see the first class change at level 20, try to imagine the quest being about 4-8 times as long (depend on whether or not you decide to save your money and walk) and expensive, then having to repeat it 3 times and you will get a decent idea of what your in for on the 2nd class change. Also, your character doesn't really specialize in anything or have his own personality until you get to about 50 with your 2nd class change anyway available at 40. All first class change classes are half assed hybrids of thier two 2nd class options, and have very little personality in thier skills or fighting styles. Pvp before 50 is mildly intresting, but since characters arn't very speciallized its generally dominated by offensive mages that can nuke (usually 2-3 hitting fighters very quickly) and use powerfull summons at those levels, and thier skills are generally unremarkable and boring before thier 2nd class change too.
