Looking for a nice 2d MMORPG

WishWish Member Posts: 31

I'm looking for a 2d MMORPG sorta like RO(I don't mind paying). Not Fairyland, Dark Ages, Nexus TK, Lengends, or Graal Online. None of those. Please help me out.

You can play Ultima Online(many servers are pre-trammel) for free on the player-made shards. Some have quite big populations. Check out www.uogateway.com or www.gamesites200.com.

UO - one of the greatest MMORPG's to date no doubt about it, getting kinda old now but still worth a try, i suggest trying one of the free servers... and no im not gonna give info on how to get on one (but im sure if u look hard enough you ca find a free client download and a good "UO Gateway" *ahem*)

Lineage - probably one of the best times i've ever had in an MMORPG, this is the only MMORPG i've ever actually held a subscription to believe it or not (out of the like 100+ games i've played lol)... its very simple when u 1st get in, with out dated 2D and such (but ur looking for 2D anyways arent u) but after awhile u really find out how deep the game is with its mass boss raids, castle sieges, politics, and way more... its actually the most popular MMORPG in the world however never really made it big in America due to PvP based gameplay, 2D graphics and SERIOUS lack of advertising...

Helbreath - i played this one for quite some time back in its beta and i had a blast... weekly Aresden VS. Elvine wars really keep u pushing for a good level/build/equipment... kind of basic but if u get into it, i'll promise u'll have a good time

Dark Eden - it was fun for about the 1st 4-5 days and has a very unique system... pick either Vampire or Slayer (humans who hunt vamps) and start kickin ass... level gain is pretty quick so expect to cap out pretty quick (not TOO quick... but faster then more "hardcore" based games by far)... the reason i say fun for the 1st 4-5 days because thats how long it will take you to realise this game is nothing more then a nooby gank fest in the end game (no bullshit, when u cap out the only thing u can do is stand at the opposing race's noob town and gank the sh!t outa them as they leave town...) meh... give it a try, it cant hurt...

Tibia - litterally 15k players, playing right as im typing this (go to www.tibia.com and see for urself), not bad for a 2D game with nintendo-esque graphics... its actually a really fun game after u get over the shitty graphics, and no sound (but thats what winamp is for am i right?)... this game has a VERY small download and is actually really fun if u take the time to get into it... sort of reminds me of runescape with its 15k+ players, 2D graphics and choice of either free-play or P2P (although trust me, its ALOT better then runescape BY FAR)... all i gotta say is give it a shot... oh but dont judge it on the noob island (u gotta stay there untill ur level 8 which can take a day or more to reach), make sure u get to the mainland and experience the game for a bit 1st...

Ashen Empires (the MMORPG formerly known as "Dransik") - played this one for a while, its pretty fun... i like how u dont need to fight to gain levels ^^ kinda makes the grind more bearable... not much more to say... not bad... give it a shot...

anyways theres a bunch more 2D mmo's out there (go to www.mpogd.com and do an advanced search for 2D, PC, MMORPG's and u'll see what i mean) but finding a "good" one is another story...

    Oww,

usually i would never recommend ShadowBane, but for a "nice 2nd Onlinegame" it´s maybe worth a try.

SB is not worth to play as main onlinegame in my opinion, but as second it has some nice things, like easy leveling, free pvp and stealing peoples money until they are broke ;-p

Well, maybe Tibia is the better choose....

If you like space games, I would recommend Starport (www.StarportGame.com). It is fairly easy on your machine and has some interesting elements.

    I suggest Wyvern, www.cabochon.com

2D games have great qualities that their 3D counterparts just don't have, you know what I mean? I think the lack of graphics is made up for in gameplay and content, open-endedness, and pure imagination. Wyvern in particular is theoretically limitless, since the world is designed and expanded by it's players after they reach level 25 and opt to become wizards. And I gotta say, there's some damned talented players designing these areas!

The game will suck you in! Check out the Adventurer's Guild in New Verden and you'll get a glimpse of the limitlessness of this game! Check out the game room upstairs in particular :)

oh whoever said Redmoon, good choice... i completely forgot about that one... its not the greatest game out there i'll admit (in fact probably pretty far from it) but u will deffinatly get ur money's worth... very fun game...

oh and holycannoli ur right about 2D games having their great qualities... now that i think of it, most of the funnest MMORPG's i've played have been 2D (Ragnarok, Lineage, UO...) not to mention the worlds largest MMORPG is actually a 2D one ^^ go figure image

Tibia is undoubtedly the best game I have ever played, you can never get bored of it. It is very simple to understand, not filled with crafting, mining and crap (which to some of you may be a let down, but not me). This is a low inflation game, meaning you don't end up having a thousand gold in one monster, or end up doing over 20 damage as you start off.

It takes a while to get anywhere, and monsters are hard to kill. In time you will become strong. You can choose from 4 vocations, knight (duh), paladin (strangely enough, people who use bows), druid (healing mage) and sorcerer (boom you're dead mage).

You can buy houses and the interface makes communication easy (unlike that runescape crap). Movement is smooth, and the graphics do not bother me at all, for such great gameplay and community.

I have a L51 elite knight, and life is sweet. Try this game, www.tibia.com
