IF there is no such thing as fate, then how about Nostradamus's predictions?  He basically saw the future, I think.  His predictions were so accurate or interpreted as accurate.

He had made over a thousand predictions, over half of them became true.    Was it luck?

    Definity fate...

You all don't beleive in fate. I don't beleive in coincidence. Everything happens for a reason.

My mind has changed so much. Yet I'm still acting like I'm the same.

I beleive things happen for a reason and I beleive that  some being or whatever ( maybe God,, but not necessarily) could be a guardian angel that protects you from harm.     When I was a child we were on a family vacation traveling over several states, my parents were always trying to be a precise as possible no matter what  but this one time we we were running behind schedule about 15 min because of a small chain of events that seemed to suddenly happen at once, we drove to a spot on the interstate and there was a desdly accident that happened app. 10-15 minutes efore we got there and if the chain of events didnt happen as and when they did we may have been involved and it would be our dead bodies being pulled from the car.  So yes I do beleive that it is fate.

well i can't say that this is fate or coincidence, but it seems you had the luck on your side. but it's hard to say. or as we say in norway

I'd like see all of you fate junkies believe it all happens for a reason when someone close to you dies. What reason was behind that? They were a good person, they were nice, they were helpful, religious, careing, and funny. Then they mess up once and THEY are the ones who die not the people who don't deserve to be here.

Same thing to all of you people who hate abortion, but believe in fate. Is there a reason behind that? If the mother did have the baby who's to say she wouldn't end up ruining two lives instead of just one

lol, I know that was really dark I just wanted to make a point

I do however have a story that is an event like the ones you guys have described. I was driving with a friend (funny how its always driving isn't it) and we stopped at a red light and saw a friend next to us and rolled down the window to invite her to a party later that night. During this time the light turned green, but we were still talking to her and then an 18-wheeler comes flying through the intersection running the red light and went right through were we would have been if we didn't stop to talk to her. Parties DO save lives!

Also to you coincidence believers you probably haven't had a really strange live saving coincidence happen to you, so you don't really know how the other side feels about it

well that is a point(personally I just belive in it because if there is fate then was it your fate to almost get hit instead of just not getting close to that.) anyway please post on poll

it was coincidence.  it just happened.  it is what it is and sometimes shit happens.

to say it was fate is unnecessary.  it adds a level of complexity that isn't necessary for an explanation.

just be happy you were safe

I don't think it is plausible to prove that. I'm quite sure you can't prove that is coincidence exists either.

it is more likley that it was coincidence than fate.

How many saw that movie "Final Destination"?

Whole thing is based on Fate.  I know its just a movie, but really,  Death has a plan?

    For all of us?

well if it was fate then what was the point to the car nearly hitting you? It might as well not have happened and everything would be the same. How was that fate to almost get hit with no effect at all

So far, coincidence is the only logical explenation, and a heck lot more logical then saying "Everything happens for a reason". I think the statement "Everything happens for a reason" is just a wishfull thought.

I have thought about it.  I have come to the conclusion that certain coincidences influence your fate.  I will die one day, it may be on my motorcycle or old age.  It is planned out, BUT, the actual event and the time of the event can change with minor altercations in time.

So, with that said, coincidences and fate are intertwined.

I beleive it was fate because I beleive that we were all put here for some reason or another, the reasons we are here we may not know. I also beleive that when we die it was our fate ( and how we die) I beleive we can change our fate just a little by not listening to the inner voice inside of us( that we may or may not be aware of ).

Or so general they could be applied to everything from Hitlers life to a womans weekly cookie recipe....

Depends how much you read into it....

I always found Nostradamus about as convincing as Bill Clinton.... and about half as compelling...
