disappointment ?

in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

I had such high hopes for this game... loved every idea about the game so far... but the latest video from the nov news letter almost made me throw up  .... how can they make a game with such amazing potential so f****n slow paced!! (it almost looked like it was turn based ffs) the pvp looked so incredibly boring, I actually dont even feel like giving this game a try anymore!

anyone else thought the same thing when watching the vid? its this one im talking about:

    Boy you're a smart one. If you looked about an inch lower on the page, you would have seen the other 15 threads like this. However, you join the ranks of them who were so quick to jump on an Alpha video that you didn't even bother to realize that you and your other WAR-bashing cronies have been made into fools in each and every one of your rants.



    It's great how people can rant on and on about a game that they haven't even played, nor has anyone else that doesn't draw a paycheck from EA Mythic.



    For a next thread, I suggest you title it "OMGZ WOW CLONE" or "FFS I HATE EA!!!!!"

    Perhaps at the begining of all their early alpha/beta videos, they should put in big, red, bold, flashing letters...

    Yes it's not great looking, everyone knows that, along with the Devs.  Having all your hopes being dashed based on one alpha stage video though is stupid.  There's nothing wrong with not liking it, I don't myself in some areas.  But do remember that there's (or was at the time it was released) a good year of development and polishing left.

    These look fine to me; even if they would be final.  But I know, these are alpha?  So they will improve a LOT.  Yet, all fine to me.

     

    And, I didn't see any abomination in that!  Dwarfs fighting alongside with dwarfs!  I am quite happy from seeing that!  And on the other side?  Orcs fighting alongside with orcs!  Didn't see a "UN" version of warhammer!  So, I like this video, much!

    When the hell did I say this was a WoW clone? .... I loved every thing about the game so far (and yes iI think WoW is waaay overrated) ... except the gameplay looks so boring in that video... and I think its kinda stupid to release a video like that if the game isnt going to look anything like that...  and jesus christ these forums are lame, cant even write what I think without some retard making every thread into one big flame! You know everydody doesnt have think the same way you do.

    You can write what you think, you just don't have to fill the forums with another of these topics when theres already 3 of them on the front page. Seriously, if you have something new to say then create a new thread and discuss it all you want. If you're just going to beat a dead horse, then just post under one of the 30 other same discussions like you created. No need to fill the forums with the same discussions.



    I never said you said it was a WoW clone. I meant by that it was another topic people posted 24/7 in here, even though there were already 20 threads about it. Again, if you feel the alpha vid was a dissapointment, then go ahead and express that, under one of the threads already discussing it! It get's really old and annoying when people continually post threads about the exact same thing with nothing new to say.

    The key word is EARLY. This is EARLY, ALPHA STAGE footage of a game that's a year away from release. As such, animations, effects, etc. are not finalized but a merely basic place-holder content until the actual game is finished and they can work on polishing everything.

    I do hope that this game will become better after the alpha stage. It probably will, but I must say that it seems a bit dumb of Mythic to release a video that seems to be this boring. I think that they lowered the antipacating for this game mostly because they released a little short video. Imo they could have fixed it up and made it look more like a cinematic than a real in-game movie. BUt that's ofc just my opinion.

    Try thinking of the development of a game kinda like painting a picture... Firstly you sketch some rough outlines of whatever it is your painting (the game on paper), then you add the primary colours basic shades ect, so you can say 'yes this goes here and that goes there bla bla' (WAR around about now) then finally you add all the fine details (like better sounds for example).

    Imagine putting your fine details on say, a tree only to decide it dosent look right and you have to re-paint... it would be a waste of time and might even look worse as an end result.

    Once the devs have built all the maps, done the number crunching and all that they can relax a little the fine tuning will commence!



    You know its time some of you got out more and stopped winging like little girls, understand that things take time and that there are people working day and night to bring this game to you. give them some respect.

    the game is about tactically long fights, where you improvise.

    Well...

    All the major publications are saying it is Warcraft and more...meaning, they (EA/M) are getting right all that Blizzard got wrong. Most of the Industry Experts say this is a game that will change all the rules. The fact is GW invented everything Warcraft has called it's own. Also if you look at the success of DAoC, one can only imagine the potential this game has in the MMORPG market place.

    This will be Game of the Year

    Which is what I love about this game!....Finally a game that allows me to use my brain again. This is Chess rather than Checkers. This is the one thing I think they got right if nothing at all.

    I dont mind long and "tactical" fights... and no I dont a pvp to end in 2 sec ... but I dont wanna fall asleep while playing cause theres no action going on .
