Skills XP and all that

solesole Member Posts: 78

I seen soo much postings about

Why do have skills when you can have grinding XPing in EvE Online?!

I never going to catch up to the older players?! becouse of the skill system in EVE.

This is a mmorpg game for god heaven sake

But I have thought about this and come up to some answers why it's so much whining and why so much people play w**

"they think they play single games lol

I have seen people playing the games ( mmorpgs games ) like the first and only goal is to rund the game up to the finish line

thats the only thing they know of they have no other things to go after they become kings by other players mostly players who plays  single games or Counter strike who have one goal is to be best in the game

However those people have now enter the mmorpg genre but the still play the mmorpgs as single player games (talk about tunnel vision)

Some players I have been spoken to in numerous game have  thought I was a NPC char   So alot of players are playing with the vision when I hit max lvl in for example WoW I won the game.

But in mmorpgs it's not about to hit the max lvl it's about  playing the game and becomme one of the comunity..

pardon for varios misspells  english isnt native language here.

I love EvE Online :)

I just restarted playing Eve and even though I know there will always be players with HUGE sp's compared to me it doesnt matter because you can still be great at many things especially if you specialize in one field.

Yeah, new players will never catch up to the old players.

Hey, that's 100% ok. It's how it should be. Someone who started playing last week shouldn't be able to get to the level someone who's been playing for 3 years is at. I'm glad to finally be playing a game where I don't have to kill 1,000,000 of X creature to be at a maxed level character.

Actually in a way it is possable to catch up to a 3 year old vet. What you got to bear in mind is that the implans and leaning skills are a farly recent addition in the past we didnt have them so skils took longer to learn.

Your best bet if you want to be competative is to try out specialising in a specific area such as cruisers for example. Also its a good idea to stick with just one races ships and wepons that way all your skill training is focussed in 1 area unlike the 3 year old vet who is trained in all areas. True you wont be a specialist in all areas but in the area you do specilise in you will be up there with the vet.

As a player since beta, i can tell you that anyone can beat anyone with a little time.

Main things to work on in order to even the odds:

1.Fitting skills: engineering, electronics, hull, energy systems, etc until you can fit the best.

    2. Specialize in a weapon, get the min requirements to use it, then concentrate on it.

    3. Specialize in armor tanking or shield tanking, whatever ship you fly.

Easy as that, all that being a vet gives you is more versatility. I can use more Tech 2, i can use all the best armor and shield mods, etc, etc.

My first character is split between combat and mining skills, he might have a buttload of skill points, but not all of it is for combat. Just have fun with the game and dont concentrate on other peoples characters, just your own.

    I agree.

Play your own game and you will really enjoy Eve. Try and compete and you will come second best.

Even the oldest players skills are still capped, they can only take any skill to level 5, same as a new player. And even before that point, there are diminishing returns. For example with good attributes (+learning skills and implants) it would take about a week to train Battleship to 4, for your chosen race. At this point you are getting 80% of the max bonus. If you want to train the final level, it will take 4 1/2 weeks, for the final 20%.

And in most cases, these are small differences, of 2%, 3%, or 5%. And even with much better skills, you will die to a ship that sets up to counter you.

What the older players do however have, is more freedom. After he was maxed in his chosen field, he has expanded to other areas.
