1. Can I bu a box set with all expansions and how much is it?
2. How are the people in teh game?
3. How will sony treat me? (I have seen alot of posts saying how bad sony staff is why?)
4. What would you say is wrong with teh game?
5. What makes it great?
Thank you in advance!
Comments
I paid 14.99 for mine. (Which is less than the price of EACH expansion or the game itself!)
2. The community is EXCELLENT. They are a bit too quiet (ie spam is quite unheard of - and I play on the BAD server (Bazaar - which technically should be infested by farmers - for the real currency usage - but its very nice)). If you come from WoW (or other spamming games) you will notice the silence. Swearing is also an extinct behavior. People actually treat you like people.
3. Assuming you are respectful (and dont 133t speak) SOE will treat you like a prince in EQ2. Everquest 2 is their flagship, and the GMs are extremely helpful and courteous. They will go out of their way to help you. I once had a glitch with my character and I had 3 GMs (in avatar form) come and sort me out. 2 of them even gave me their personal SOE email address: "should I need help again."
4. EQ2 is an amazing place to be. I'd say the game is graphics/system hungry - not by its amazing graphics - but by (most likely) inefficient resource management/coding. The graphics can be "plastic-ky" in some areas - and realism is lost in some places. The game can be a pick with ATI cards when it comes to Anti-aliasing - but that can tweaked via Omega Drivers.
5. Oh... it IS good all round. I have not found any flaws so far. Vast areas to adventure in - too many places for hunting - no need to "grind" in the same areas. Personal housing is fun - decor and pets and plants. Great money to be made crafting. People actually place crafting orders (if you are good) and has a healthy economy (even after all these years still not yet reaching into "millions" we see on other MOGs).
What I heartily recommend that you get Sony Station Access account - pay a little bit more - $24.99/mo, and you also get to play ALL of the SOE online games on market inclusive! That includes:
- Everquest 1: still VERY good game to play - dated gfx though.
- Star Wars Galaxies: with recent profession enhancements - they are now closing the gap between pre-NGE gaming. Very good overall depiction of the Star Wars universe! AND you also get REALTIME Space Combat (unlike EVE - which is a GUI over a text-MUD backbone space combat)!! And best of all - EVERYTHING (from cities to starships) ingame is player crafted and sold!
- Planetside: AMAZING PvP planetwide combat - where lines of control MATTER! Aircraft, Bombers, Mechs, Tanks, Buggies, Paradrops, Soldiers, Turrets, Stealth units, etc. Adrenaline rush EVERYTIME!
- Matrix Online: Dont believe the hype! MxO is slick! I played it when it was crap and I was only one on the servers. Now it has a decent following. Love the fact we can interchange our abilities at any hardline. Bit repeatitive - but its all about coolness - and it is nice to jump over buildings!
And the latest Vanguard: I DONT recommend this one! :P But it IS inclusive under the same price - so might as well get it if you wish. I beta-tested it and uninstalled it VERY quickly! :P I also dont believe its in any shape to be shipped this month.
Good luck.
PS. Dont expect excellent SOE GM response times/behaviour for anything other than EQ2. Since these are 'outsider' developements brought under the umbrella of SOE. EQ1 is just a bit old - so I doubt it has the same GMs as EQ2.
The Big MMORPG List
There is a few things i want to know still before i too go buy the game.
I'm playing L2 atm and been doing so for the last 2.5 years.
For the past month i have been scouting for a new game to play cause L2 is just too hard to get to endgame in a legit way, ever.
Every other MMO that i've thought looked great at first sight have turned out to be crap. (atleast if i ought to believe in what is said on these forums).
This seems to be the only (released) game that i could truly enjoy.
So:
How is the pvp system?
Are there any server(s) where the majority of the ppl play legit?
How hard is the grind in comparison to L2?
I downloaded the beta to find out myslef but i get blue screen after i've logged in and press "play". Every time
Tryed to contact support through forums but it kept saying i got to register/activate to post, even though i've already done so
When lightning strikes once, Venaja strikes twice!
EQ2 *can* be a tough game to solo for endgame - and you will most likely need a group for several areas and quests. Some dieharders claim to solo 100% of the game. Grinding is not too bad since we have a vast variery of areas to explore. Levelling upto mid levels is somewhat easier (and fun) than WoW.
Finding groups can be relatively easy - or painful - depending on various factors such as time of day, population timezones (when USA population is on - plenty of groups), weekday/weekend, etc. Grouping system is not as good as CoH/CoV or DDO, but its acceptable.
Highest server populations would be US servers - and most likely the "Farmer" servers like Bazaar. I play there and people are actually nice. I also play on EU Runnyeye and its populated and its air is also crisp and refreshing. I dont know how high/low populations are on the rest of the servers.

You come from Lineage 2? Have you tried Guild Wars? (I'm assuming the engine is similar to L2 (but not sure) as I've seen screeshots and the worlds look similar). Guild Wars is free to play - and if you like PvP - it has plenty of that, and is NOT enforced. PvP is a completley seperate part of the game and you can completely bypass it should you want to. Plus you can solo 95% of Guild Wars - and groups are relatively easy to find - but can be a mixed bag depending on the skills of the members (but thats everywhere). If you cant find groups - or they are annoying the heck out of you - simply take some henchmen (and/or heroes) with you! One word to describe Guild Wars: Superb!
NB. GW is a different category of fish when comparing it to EQ2. Apples and Oranges. Both delicious.
1. Can I buy a box set with all expansions and how much is it?
Yep. Its $49.99.2. How are the people in teh game?
I love the community. Its probably what I love most about the game.
I've had people randomly stop and give me heals, I've even had them randomly pm me and ask if I want an item they have (nothing asked in return), and occasionally even just give me money (had someone give me a whole platinum once) for absolutely no reason at all.
You may have trouble finding a group but not if you get in a good guild. Btw, don't join Faith of Heroes guild. You'll get alot of pm's from them randomly asking you to join. Don't do it. Just trust me on that.
3. How will sony treat me? (I have seen alot of posts saying how bad sony staff is why?)
I've never had a problem with Sony. Ever. Any time I've had an issue, its been solved within three hours, usually within 15 minutes, and I've been playing this game for two years.
See, what people can't get through their thick skulls is that sometimes things just suck. Its not something people can control. Doubtful that Sony likes it any more than anyone else having things go bad like that. A company thrives on its reputation, its how they make money. But sometimes, things just happen. It doesn't mean the company is bad, you just happen to be one of the unlucky ones.
Basically, I think all those reports of bad service are crap.
4. What would you say is wrong with teh game?
Lags like a monster in the cities and towns and the zoning takes up alot of memory. I have a pretty fair rig and, after two hours of playing, I have to reboot.5. What makes it great?
Great gameplay, great community, great staff, it changes constantly, expansions or adventure packs are released about every 6 months or so, and the devs are constantly updating, deleting, and adding new content.I love this game. Best game out there.
