Man, I wanted my first post to be something spectacular!  Oh well...  anyways...

I Don't believe that decal in itself destroyed AC, but I do believe it opened way for plugins that do.  I read that post, and it seems that too many people are too attached to the program.  I really don't know why it's so hard for those people to let go of it (or at least not flame the hell out of you for your opinion on it).  I used to play with decal, but I only used pluggins that didn't effect the game itself (ie. winamp plugins, ingame notepad, etc.).

I reallized that decal would be a problem a long time ago when sixth sense first came out.  I tried it and of course I liked the program and was amazed at how well it worked, but I realized that if a plugin could do what sixth sense did, then the future plugins are just going to run the game down.

Well, nothing like getting flamed on your first post, but here it goes...

My opinion:  If you want to make AC this easy, then why not play AC2?  They made that game with the point and click'ers in mind.  All these plugins are just making AC1 too easy to play...

I say they just add a new server that doesn't allow 3rd party programs for those who would rather play without.

I think anyway and I have no problem with Plugins just UCM'ers

Unfortunately, with all of the good plug-ins out there, there are the few that seriously detract from the game. El Tank comes to mind. In itself, it is an incredible piece of work but the portion that allows one to UCM just makes the game less enjoyable for everyone else. Nothing worse than seeing a group of high level UCM'ers camping a dungeon where they stand little to no chance of ever being killed.

Even though I am an ex-player, there is one program which I recall made Decal absolutely necessary.

    Nerfus Buffus

Sure, the other detection type programs or macros may have influenced the game but nerfus buffus took away the one truly tedious task of playing. Especially being a DTer and needing to impen and bane every piece of armor I had, this program was an absolute must.

The devs have already stated they will not ban decal there are too many features that decal plugins have that would take to long to code into the game

I still play now and it's going on 2 years since I have been actively involved with ac.. I played it when it first came out, then came back. It's a game worth checking out, and with the new expansion coming out in the next year, it'll be better than ever. About the El Tank thing, yes you can UCM, however you get caught and it can mean instant ban. I don't think they'd get rid of decal because of the help it gives to the ac community. As time goes on I slowly break away from ac, and would liek to try other games, however I am still a noob when it comes to knowing all :D

So how's AC doing these days? Any new things considering d&d and traditional fantasy aspects?
