So why is this game goo to many veterans of MMos i'm curous

    UO is one of the pioneers of MMOs.  Many people will argue that it was in its prime before Age of Shadows expansion or before the trammel facet emerged, which I do agree with.  People believe that UO in its prime was the peak of the MMO market and no game will touch how UO used to be.

    UO rox sox.

    Install the game, load up UOGateway, and play a free player-run server. Pawn newbs, loot them dry, and /emote Cry until your face explodes.

    Hihi, yes I can only same the same. I love UO, been playing it for absolut ages and still love it. AoS realy did not bother me at at all and now looking forward to UO:KR. :) Just giverit a try.

    this is why MANY people prefer playing UO before trammel and AoS came out...ONLY DIFFERENCE between players was their skills and not armor and weapons....unless of course the player made server was pre aos/trammel....STILL there wasnt anything like UO automap and UO assist crap programs that helps you with macroing etc...you were good by how well your skills are and when i mean by skills i mean your character skills and also how you play your character in pvp...

    Ultima Online is (was?) a lovely sandbox for people to play in, with great potential for role-players who want (wanted?) to create their own adventures.  On top of that, many gaming veterans may have fond memories of the single-player Ultima-games of yore.  Therefore, it is (IS!) loved by many.

    UO was the best  gaming fun i ever had before trammel the fear of being pked at the dungeon entrance would make my heart race and the friends i made from player run establishments  it was the best of times

    UO is a blessing to all gamers. Theres nothing you can't achieve....except shooting ogres with guns.

    Was a wonderful game, played it for so many years.  Only reason I moved on was because my friends did.  But you can't really fault this one.
