Professional Tester Opinion: Vangaurd's a HUGE flop!

in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes
I been playing Games for 18 years and have alpha/beta tested the majority of them.  Majority of my work I worked along side of the developers balancing systems.  I was absolutely shocked when I first played Vangaurd.  What ticked me off the most is they plan on releasing it a month later.  It was horrible!  I've seen prior closed alphas with more stability and less lag.  They had it classifed as a open beta when it should be a closed alpha (it needs major work).  I was shocked because it made oldies like Ultima Online & Everquest look good.  Sure it had pretty graphics at first glance but if you tried to use those settings you wouldn't be going anywhere cuz every other step the lag would freeze you for a few seconds.  So everyone has to play with the lowest setting of graphics, which had horrid graphics, and we still got a decent share of lag!  I played it for a day or two and figured why bother when you have games like WoW out.  I wouldn't play Vangaurd when it was free for me.  It's a loser and won't go anywhere...mark these words.  Don't give these guys your money so they can turn around and make more crap like this.  I don't even believe it's worth my time as a professional tester to test unless they paid me for it.  This gaming vet was absolutely 110% disappointed.  The only thing they do get some points for is for their mass advertising campaign.

    thats your personal opinion..so it wont hold water with many people.

    Being a gamer of 26yrs :P i think this game incorporates alot of uniqueness...but it does have its flaws. i am no way saying its perfect..and i am still on the fence if i am going to buy it....but a flop? no. i think it will have about 100-125k subs...

    WoW was simplified for the masses and allowed an easy learning curve with minimal effort. Its also well polished, but kind of shallow. It also allows minimum system specs to run it.Thats why its so good. I personally hate WoW....and its an epidemic of a cash cow..causing many to copy the system it copied from a multitude of games.

    And you sir are no professional...and while you value your own opinion...let people decide themselves...since every has a different opnion and liking to what makes a game interesting... professionals do not go off spouting personal views on matters of marketing.... so you get an F-

    "Professional Testers" Give their opinions of the good AND bad of any game and suggest ways in which the bad might be fixed and the good made even better.

    Sorry, this is another useless troll.  Many of us here in this forum aren't ready to buy this game but we still wish it well.

    I hope it DOESN'T flop.

    Well they`ve made huge improvements every day, they have an update every 2 days which has like 2-3 pages of readme fixes and additions made.

    For 18 years u havent played much if u consider this an alpha.

    Personally I think its the same old hashed wow/eq remake crap (level/class based rpg`s are relic from pen and paper rpgs... ffs)  but thats what the majority love.

    The games industry is like the film industry, seldom are the academy award winners the biggest blockbusters.

    SOE always have a big marketing strategy and probably more stastics for sales and customers than we could read in a day. It wont flop, niether will LOTR , they wont even dent WOW`s addon sales tho. But I doubt anygame will in the foreseable future.

    Feeling like getting revenge after being fired, eh?  I hope you haven't signed any documents that can land you a nice bit of litigation for your speaking here.  You know, the type they have professional testers sign before they begin testing?



    As somebody who has been playing computer games for 24 years, I think Vanguard has some definite gameplay mechanics of value beneath it's buggy and oft unfinished exterior.

    I'm a pro game tester.

    Game testers works from tasks.  They have NO INPUTS on developpement.  They fill in bug reports and do what QA Test Leads tell them to do.  They are also paid testers.

     

    This game tester will buy Vanguard and will have fun playing it.

    Yay, someone else who didnt bother to be objective when testing a game, your a tester, its not your job to form an openion. You report bugs. I'm sorry, this game is where it should be.. though it really should be launching in the beginning of march like originally planned, it still will be fine for jan. There are no major game stopping bugs that I've run into, but that doesn't mean that alot of people have them. Alpha?.. please..

    I never trust anyone who has to tell me they're a "professional" anything to somehow give them credibility....

    I've played the beta..... game has issues, but I had some fun, so I'll buy a copy and see where it goes.

    You are such a moron it's not even funny.  You sit there and claim to be a professional beta tester?  No professional beta tester would ever in their wildest dreams come on a gaming forum and post what you just did.  It's UNPROFESSIONAL, tasteless, and just plain immature.

    I beg to differ. New MMO's that are comming out offer something different then WoW does, be it crafting or new combat system, aside from different visual appearance.



    I wonder if we ever see a Press Release from Blizzard, stating they have 8 mill subs Burning Crusade( meaning all current WoW subs upgraded).



    So far every MMO's expansion pack have been alienating the players from those that prefer to play original, or cant/wont upgrade.

    I was not compensated to test Vangaurd  I have been paid in the past to test several other major & minor titles.

    Not very professional if you cant spell the games title right.... obviously  your a professional tester because you only played it for  "one or two days". So deserving of your WoW gameplay time right.
