IF YOU LOVE FREEDOM AND PVP THEN YOU NEED ASHERON'S CALL!!!!!
I know, I know, your gonna say, eww eww the graphics stink, but lower quality graphics allows you to play on a lower quality machine, and allows for much smoother gameplay.
Games with really high end graphics get really glitchy when you get 20+ players in your screen plus 10+ monsters, spells flying, arrows flying, swords swinging, people running around.
If you want graphics go to WoW, If you want a great game, great gameplay, great pvp, great pve, great community, great support, great content, great character creation(skill&attributes), great level up system, great game dynamics, and most of all, FREEDOM, the land is open to your exploration, no loading zones, you can literaly run for hours on end and never see the same spot twice.
IMO, everyone that loves mmo's should atleast try Asheron's Call : Throne of Destiny, You'll never be satisfied with another mmo.
Asheron's Call Darktide best mmorpg ever!!!

Yeah I played AC back in its prime when a lot of people played and there where only like 3 MOG's on the market. It was a great game and still is in some respects. It has a major population issue right now. I did that free trial they had this last Dec. Server merge is really what they need. Having 10 - 15k subs spread out over 9 servers is just goofy. Also they didn't keep up with the rest of the MMO industry. Basic things like a "quest journal" are missing from AC and the chat system is awful.
Where Turbine really took a wrong turn with AC/AC2 was this. Rather then make AC2 a "true" sequel of AC keeping what the AC players liked they made a completely different game which alienated it from the AC players and because of its very poor launched, it never brought in a large amount of subs. (EQII did the same thing) Then to make matters worse Turbine got side tracked with more MMO's and took the focus off of both AC and AC2 causing AC to die and AC2 to shut down. They have alot of great ideas and can really make some interesting games but Turbine can't seem to pull it all together. DDO was a trainwreck and they sacrified AC/AC2 for that. LotR seems pretty solid but it HAS TO BE, how many more bombs can they endure?
Turbine has always - still is the master of creative and interesting content IMHO but they suck at execution and administration of their games.
The best quest I ever played in any MMO was in AC. They are simply great at any level no matter if you are level 10 or 100, they are fun and challenging. (although a bit to much running around at times) its to bad they neglected AC they way they did.
If they merged the game down into maybe half the amount of servers they currently have, there might be more then 200 to 300 people on at prime time. If you can deal with that, its a great game, give it a try. I get the urge to go back every time a POS like Vanguard releases.

Do I ever sleep?
Unfortunately I don’t think there’s much difference in pvp compared to WoW. The only mainstream MMORPG that I know of that has awesome pvp is Ultima Online and that’s a bit past its best.
*Deleted* - double post
AC is a lost cause now. It's still fun for a change, but it doesn't have anywhere near it's original pull.
Now THAT is a truly BRILLIANT statement. Anyone who's ever played AC Darktide will just have to laugh like hell at a statement like that. PvP in WOW and AC1 are so different, this has to make the most ridiculous statement made on mmorpg.com so far in 2007. {sighs}

Oh lol dont give me that. You have an action bar with a load of skills which you click and use when you want to just like every other mmo out there. If you want different pvp go look at UO. These games are just great examples of how the skill has been taken out of pvp and put into mass ganging.
And since your quoting that expansion at me I only played AC during the beginning.
Yes, both WOW and AC1 had hot bars. That is correct. But the similarities STOP right there. The mechanics are completely different. Ac used 7 different forms of elemental damage. The war bolts for these shot out in a straight line (they didn't chase the target regardless of where it went like WOW). A target could strafe and actually dodge magical bolts in AC. Try the same in WOW, huh? The buffs and debuffs actually mattered to a great degree (unlike WOW) AC PvP battles could go on for up to 30 minutes. You'd be lucky to see a 1 on 1 WOW pvp battle last more then 60 seconds. Again, the mechanics and action of the PvP are completely different. But you are correct, AC and WOW both had hot bars, so they were exactly the same kinda game. Uh huh. You keep telling yourself that.

Lmao, how ignorant are you, yes the games have hotbars, so do most MMORPGS, but that doesnt mean that the PVP plays the same due to a damn hotbar, its completely different in every single aspect.
And to the OP yes AC is a great game, do many people still play it now ?

Huh?!!????
Ohhhhh that AC expansion that I quoted. Riiiiight. You mean AC Darktide. Yep. That expansion. YOU MEAN THE PvP SERVER!!!?? The Only PvP server on AC since it started! And it WAS there at the beginning, so you must know all about it, right? Uh huh. You seem like an expert on the matter saying insane stuff like "AC PvP and WoW PvP are exactly the same."
My grandfather once told me a great quote when I was younger, speaking of talking about things that you know little about:
"It's better to be quiet and be thought a fool, then to speak and remove all doubt"
You obviously know very little about AC1 PvP, at the beginning or today. Hell you think Darktide is an AC expansion. Remember the quote above buddy, it might help you sometime when it actually MATTERS.. and not on a meaningless forum chat board.
