I really think that these kind of videos seems to pop up when the older generation doesn't seem to realise that something new is breaking in that they can't control. These kinds of extreme guys are those who pushed it too far, there will always be those kind of guys in the world and they will always be addicted to different kinds of things. But when something new comes out it gets into the spotlight and the older generation who don't know so much about this game therefore get scared and they will make a much bigger thing of it than it actually is.

There are addicts to all kind of things and there will always be. I think that just because these kind of things are new they are more common now but I think they will fade down and become a part of the rest of these "OMG THe end of the world" news. That's ofc my opinion.

Interesting video, but game addiction cannot be compared to smoking or drug addiction AT ALL.

I didn't bother to read the article. Such articles appear about everything new or out of the common, whatever that is.

Out of a community of x millions you are bound to find some not so sensible people. These are all around us, we just don't look hard enough because most of the time, we don't care. In any case, it comes down to one thing? Does one bad politician an excuse to bring the political system down? ... No? ... I thought so.

It's easy for certain people to mistake impulses with addictions. Take our impulses away and all is left is a lifeless shell of a broken human.

Ohh yea it's an illness they say... This is just making me so godamn pissed of! I think any person with any type of cancer would have something to say about that. Playing 16 hours a day ain't a illness it's a freaking choise!

Indeed. It's all about choice. A choice I made as well. So what if people call me a computer addict. I have fun doing what I like, and that's all that matters. Life isn't about doing what others say is right, that's just being a sheep without free will.

Not to mention, most if not all that complain about computer addiction is extroverts. Is it so hard to understand that there are people that simply don't like socializing? I don't care what the weather is like, I don't care if you bought new shoes, and I certainly don't care about you.

And lastly, computer addiction doesn't really hurt others. It's understandable that the mom in the video is upset, but parents usually are whenever their children chooses their own way of life. If the guy in the video isn't bothered by having bad grades, or even dropping out of school, why keep haunting him with it? It's like telling a person who is overweight to lose weight, rude and insensitive. I never really went to school, and I don't regret it at all. Sure I may be poor, but that haven't had any effect on my happiness at all.

Life is about making your own choices, so stop telling others what to do.

To Kopema, recant and Aziere sure they have a choice... But so have all all addicts! Maybe you should go to school? Azire

But guys when do plaing become an addiction?

When you can't balance the things you want from the world with the things the world expects from you?

Anything around us can be seen as an addiction. The question is who sets the standards for a normal behaviour?

So television is supposed to educate me on the ways of proper behaviour? What if I don't watch television? (Which I don't).

I didnt watch the video or anything, but yes, actually a video game addiction is just like addiction to drugs or alcohol. It has been proven in more then one government and private study. Not only are the addiction charecteristics simmular but the symptoms of withdraw are so alike its scary. The same could be said about internet addiction as well. If you dont believe me go ahead and research it. Also something that some of you would never believe could be addictive is sex. They actually have support groups for people addicted to sex and video games, just like drugs and alcohol.

Whatever...that mom starts crying over this.  I remember when I was playing UO too much in the day.  my mom took the credit card away, she took the computer away, and made me go outside...good for her.  Im proud to say that i HAD a parent.  Seems like so many parents are too afraid to front their kids, or just simply don't know how to parent.  Whatever...if that was my kid, that computer would be out of his room, only 2 hours of WoW a night, AFTER homework is done and he has to ask to play it.  WTFever...this is retarded.  Some parents these days have problems.

It's not the game that make people addicted: Someone that is weak will get addicted to "anything". Wether it's game, alcohol, drugs, gambling... Those people will never be cured and they will parasite our world till the end of time. They will have the perfect setup for a productive life and still find a way to screw things up... I don't have a glimpse of sympathy for those loosers.

What deserves to be done, deserves to be "well" done...

Ya you do have a point at it that people that do get addicted are weak willed, or something like that and also i cant remember who said this earlier but yes the parents should do something about it, they actually have to do something not just sit there and complain.

others (like me) play games a lot and find them to be very fun and love to play them but we do actually get up go outside and do others things

On the topics of parents, yes, that is a major problem anymore. I'm big into politics as well and Hillary Clinton, who is now a presidential canidate, puts so much blame on the video game companies for there content and letting small children play them. I'm sorry but the last time i checked it was a parent who has to buy the "M" rated video game otherwise the stores and employees that sell them could be fined massive ammounts of money and all that B.S., which I am fully supportive of if it helps parents realize whats going on.

But alas, that does not stop parents from making stupid desisions and despite the best efforts still buy games like GTA:3 for there kids. I was in my local Gamestop one day when a kid demanded his mother to purchase GTA:3 for him, he was no older then 10. The clerk informed her it was not for young childern but the kid bitched moaned whined and complained untill he got what he wanted and the mother barely rose a hand to him (my parents would have smacked me so hard i would have thought the sky was falling).

There have always been problems where parents leave the kids to raise themselves. If you look at technology as it develops and such you can see that. It went from radio, to TV to video games and so on as it will go. Parents figure that if these things are there they can raise there kids for them and why should they deal with them? Unfortunately because of this many political figures see the industry at fault when in fact, if the parents would occasionally sit down and read with there kids or take them out to play catch, the problems could often times be adverted.
