Here is why I quit Lineage 2 and why I am afraid of going back to it. It lacks diversity between the armour/weapons and quests. Almost everyone looks the same, becuase you can't just go out and get a random enchanted sword from a raid monster. Pretty much every item you can get, you can either buy, make, or get from a raid monster. But the thing is, there are not that many sets of armour and weapons. There is full A, B, S... ect. and the items that go with it. So almost everyone has the same stuff. Also, everyone can buy EVERY spell that goes with there class. Because of both of them things (and more) 2 lvl 60's that are the same class/race are pretty much exactly the same. Becuase they have the same spells. And if they dont have the same spells then. They will soon because you have unlimited points to spent on spells. So if two of the same lvl, same class, and same race fought. It would pretty much be chance.
Like you see here, this item was probibly found from a random little monster or raid monster in WoW. A random peice of equipment.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c36/grandstar5/hammer_of_northern_wind1.gifYou will never find a random item in lineage 2 becuase they have sets of items. There for there are not that many items. There are like 15 - 30 thousand items in WoW.
Plus here is what you do in L2. You train, grow lvl, go buy new skills/gear. train, grow lvl, go buy new skills/gear. train, grow lvl, go buy new skills/gear. train, grow lvl, go buy new skills/gear. and over and over again. Because in lineage 2, there is not skills like,
Alchemy | Blacksmithing | Cooking | Enchanting | Engineering | First Aid | Fishing | Herbalism | Leatherworking | Mining Skinning | Tailoring |. so pretty much all you can do is fight monsters.
In world of warcraft the quests are amazing. Like once I had to turn on all these valves, while killing all of these beasts. After that I had to get threw more and then get this key to turn it on.
Stuff like that, so you are not doing the same thing OVER and OVER again.
Also there is battle grounds, so if you dont want to do quests or train. You can go to a battle ground and fight for castles and stuff.
Yes there is castle seiges in Lineage 2. But we won't be going on one of them for a long time. If ever...
That is why I quit and am probibly not comming back, I am sorry. But there is not much to do. That is why it lacks populations
Here is a queute from someone who played and says pretty much the same thing I did...
"I was a part of the Open Beta for about a month and were among the higher ranked characters on my server. This does not mean I was among the top, but I was higher than most. I enjoyed this game for a time, it has good graphics and very easy gameplay. Its easy to get started and its easy to build a character, you are guided through your first steps and if you need more help other players are always willing.
There are however two big problems with this game. The first, as is with a lot of MMORPGs of the "first wave" (everquest, DAoC etc.), is that its very repetitive. Nothing new ever really happens. You go out and kill some stuff and gain a few levels, you go back and get better equipment and some new skills (far to few to select from to create unique characters), you go out and kill some tougher stuff and gain a few more levels and then back again for better equipment/skills. You can, and should, quest most of the time but the diversity of the quests arent very good and they to mostly evolve around "kill X, return to me with Y".
The lack of diversity is the second big problem, you will find a lot of other players that are almost exactly like you. Most of your race will look like you, but quite a lot will also be like you since the game is lacking in unique skills to chose from.
All in all I think most people will find this game enjoyable for a month or two, but then tire of it as nothing new ever happens. I for one grew very tired after my first month and would never consider buying this product. If you are one of those who never tired of Everquest this might be the one to get for you though, its quite similar..."
Peace.
Not to mention that the quests are repetitive. Pretty much all they are, are kill "x" amount of this and bring back "x" amount of this.

For some reason the middle part in invisible... this site is really glitchey.
So highlight it please.
THANKS!
Out of your list, L2 does have fishing, enchanting (weapons, armor, and skills), and obviously crafting.
Then, come back here and tell me what died first: Your character or your computer.
Eye candy is important, but still, gameplay > eye candy
I luved RFonline spending months just to advance your skills and not lvling. whats really funny is that RFonline was the only MMO where Die was a daily occurance many many times a day LMAO
Depending on your class, you have to actively work to break even on money as regular hunting can be a huge money sink. Let alone pvp. Running some of those siege engines *literally* take millions a minute in fuel.
L2 weakness is bots and pk. Beside it, it is a great looking grind fest game with awesome castle siege. Meanwhile as usual with asian game, it get very complex with class, secondary class, hero and what else.
Other issue is that character lose xp when they die (if I don't confuse myself with Lineage) ... a reliable connection is required.
Two. Quit crying about individuality in an MMORPG. You want individuality? Disconnect your computer and go socialize in the real world. Dont look to the computer as a supplement for failure in real life. Try to advance in the game of life instead of worrying about MMOs, you'll only be doing yourself a favor.
SO.. L2 sucks 'cause it's not WoW, am I right?
Very subjective best MMO list:
Saga of Ryzom, Anarchy Online, Lineage 2, WoW
Waiting for:
Age of Conan, Aion, Lineage 3
Yes, you have to grind a lot to be of any significance in the pvp, but that doesn't mean there's "nothing to do but kill mobs all day".
I've gone through periods of 3-4 months in L2 where I've earned 0 xp, 0 gold, 0 upgrades, but it was still when I played it the most intensively because we were in a really engaging war. I'd hardly call that a "grind".
You ar a fraud and a tard. You've been spamming threads hating Lineage 2 in both the Lineage sections and now on the general discussion area? Did you get banned? Maybe you got your a** banned by NCSOFT for cheating/ebaying/botting and you think this is the only way to get back at them? Poor you, yeah we feel bad for you...NOT. You also have absolutely no clue about the game. If you HAD actually played and reached high level, you'd know exactly why there isn't as much customization by character models. Have you even attended a Castle Siege? Just the sheer number of players that show up for one and the polygon count would make most other games come to a crawl, not so in Lineage 2. It actually scales pretty well. There is NO game to date that can compete with Lineage 2 in PvP. No game can replicate the hundreds and sometimes thousands of players that attend 1 castle siege. Its crazzy.
Raids start at Level 20. Hello? You ask what is there to do in Lineage but kill monsters? WTF? What is there to do in ANY OTHER MMORPG than kill monsters or blow up space junk? Are you just dumb or have you never PLAYED an MMORPG ever?
If you want to sound credible, your gonna need to actually play to know WTF you are talking about.
cheers!
It is supposed to be hard. And the game makers planned the game like yu fly through the first levels and content starts first after 40-50+.
When lightning strikes once, Venaja strikes twice!
Beta was Prelude, then there was Chronicle 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. The next one up is called "Interlude", and after that there will be "Chaotic Throne" 1, 2, 3, and so on.
Some things they have added after the beta through expansions are sub-classes, several new "epic" raid-bosses that require hundreds of players to take down, fishing, a "hero" system allowing you to gain unique temporary powers by winning the olympiad over other players, a "seven signs" system which allows you to participate in one of two competing factions where the prize is exclusive rights to special dungeons and merchants, obviously new territory with new towns and castles to siege, graphic tweaks including a HDR and glow filter, a "cinema" function which allows you to record in-game with no CPU strain at all (I sometimes forgot I left it on and never noticed) and play it back "live" allowing you to freely look around, a "demonic sword" which can only be welded by only one person on the entire server, novelty items such as a party mask, giant drum-on-a-stick, squeaky shoes, and bunny ears.
Some of the things they have announced that they are adding in the future are cross-server wars, aerial and naval battles, a "theme park" with various minigames, "angelic" weapons to counter the "demonic" ones, "strongholds" which are meant as mini-castles that smaller or more casual clans can siege, obviously more items, more raid bosses, more territory, more castles.
There's probably some stuff I forgot to include.
Hardly any of these things would make me go "there's nothing to do in L2 but kill monsters."
I'll emphasize though. I know L2 does have a huge grind, the road to the top is incredibly long. But "nothing to do but kill monsters" is certainly not true with the amount of PvP content they have.

and the reason your post is screwed up is because you c&p'd text from the wow webpage. You stuck a color code in there or something else. Remember kids, if you c&p from webpage to webpage, paste into notepad first to get rid of the html formatting.

Lol... did the OP just praise WOW for its crafting skills and bash lineage for not having any... ... im sorry but you need to play some decent OLDER games. WOW does not have a crafting system thats worth touching at all.. It should be removed from the game because it has no purpose.
WOW also suffers from the fact that all characters at lvl 60 are essentially the same... YES they will have different items but there are only a few viable builds (skill sets to choose). Like there might be only 3 types of paladins you can make because all other skillsets suck to much... so all paladins fall into 3 catagories.
WOW suffers from all the problems lineage does.
OK, I'm an L2 vet and here is what I can tell you:
You want to spice up your gameplay at low levels? Here is what you can do. Hang out in the Human starter area or the Dark Elf area with your MAIN. Of all the starter spots these have the most players in them. It is very important you use your main to do this.
Find someone who lower level then you. Since you can not see another players level or health, watch what mobs they are fighting and how long it takes for them to kill it. MAKE sure they are in a guild. This is absolutly important. They MUST be guilded. The bigger and more well known the guild, the better.
PK them. (as many times as you can) Then taunt them alittle. Call their guild names. Call them a n00b a few times.
I promise you will never, ever have a dull moment in the game ever again...ever. I can't promise you will last very long after that however.
L2 is as dull or as exciting as you make it.
