Dracon Thats why they had a "Closed Beta", it was to show these problems and fix them before the actual release and even in this "Open Beta" There is still going to be bugs. Also as for your "hard worked characters", how is it possible that you didn't know that at the end of Betas all characters usally get deleted anyways.

Also when you got asked to join Closed beta im sure they told you characters would be deleted.

And the game is Awsome for the stages its in

This is one of those games that is free but you purchase items, isn't it?  I'm don't think that would suit me at all.  I'll be interested to see if this sort of thing catches on with the mainstream MMO gamers, though.

The f2p model isn't a bad idea. Problem is only the crappiest games seem to use it :(

This game is just another crappy import.  If you liked RF Online or Knight Online or something similar you will probably enjoy 9 Dragons.  But if you are like me and want something "fun" than don't even bother with this one.

The story is awful, the animation's are horrible & the graphics are 3-4 years old.

The game is just a boring grind fest.

Oh, and to Dracongard:  I can't stand people like you.  OF COURSE they are going to delete your character at the end of the beta test, that's why it's freaking called a beta test, you idiot.

It's probably safe to say that you didn't report one bug while you were testing... err... I mean "playing" the game while it was in beta.  The point of that time in the game's advancement is to work the bugs out & get everything running smooth for the game's release.  I hate it when people like you apply for a beta test & only want to play the game early.  You take up beta slots that could have been given to someone that would actually have tested the game & possibly found a bug that no one else had reported.  But instead, you were busy playing.

Well guess what.  Getting to play the game in an unstable phase of it's development & then getting your character wiped (WHICH HAPPENS IN EVERY CLOSED BETA, MULTIPLE TIMES IN MOST.) just ruined it for you, huh?  Good job you moron.

Still cant believe there are assholes out there that complain jsut for me mourning my work...yea i pointed out a few bugs but no one really cared...i mean admins were  never on and tehy never did take and questions or anything like it...and when they did all they said was to wait...now its opened and they deleted all teh suggestions also...now the guild i was in jsut started emailing and went on to say that they are just there for another cheap thrill...more like korean influenced...and god why so negative calm down...just because i got in and you didnt...feeling all high and mighty...i jsut wanted to point some things out before people play...

From what I'm seeing, they aren't fixing the bugs, must be a holiday season.

Lots of people playing though; mostly Asians during the time I play and they don't talk so there is no community.

They already said this isnt open beta, its pre open beta. The patch to fix the bugs that are already known will be mid january. Seems the time you play is terrible, since the asians only play late at night if you cant find anyone to talk to dotnt blame it on the community.

Honestly i dont know why people still post betas to games on these forums, people are so closed minded all they do is trash games for no other reason then their origin is a country they dont like. No one has actually given a productive reason for not liking this game, instead passed around generic insults for not wanting to play this game.

    Amen dude.

I'm playing the game right now and i have no problem with it. I actually really like it.

IF you don't like "grind", either party up with someone or go play an action game.  You can lvl up in less than 15 minutes with a party of 3.

After more than 3 years of development and with more than $10 million of development cost, 9Dragons is a breakthrough in game play and graphics quality. Developed by award winning Indy21 team, this game is destined to set a new standard for MMORPGs.

9Dragons’ features cutting-edge full 3D graphics but let us take real.

they wasted the 10 Million and there 3 year hard work with no soul , odd game .

    * the game is free i tried it .

    * It is 3 years old , with out date fight system .

    * I think with the 2006 mesurge the game i way too old.

    * not high enveroment Graphices.

    *  odd story nothig new .

so run hide escape don't wast your time  for Nothing  add this game to you  un-do list .

I have also been trying this game, although I did not get into the closed beta I did get in on pre-open beta. Here's my 2 cents worth.

    Pros-

-Free to play (although I heard they're going to have advertisement in it, I have yet to see it.)

-Item Pay-This I have not see but seems to be to pay money to look different, paying for items based on how much cash you shell out of your wallet, again haven't seen it but means you can still experience the content etc and only pay for what "You" want out of it.

-Kung Fu-Man its an mmo, and its kung fu. Matrix was the only other one I played that had it in it and this is far better then matrix. IMHO.

Animations-Are ok, not saying superb as they could use "some" improvements.

Weapons-There are tons of different weapons, although many look similar there are slight variations (colors, type etc)

Models-The over all models are ok, again not superb but adequate. I haven't noticed any glitches with models themselves (i.e. clipping)

Quests-Pretty straight forward, tells you to go kill x, deliver x, nothing new per se but nothing that bad. Actually they've done a few things which are interactive quests where you have time limits or quotas to fulfill within a t ime limit which requires you to group up to get it done, or think outside of the box on doing it.

Money-Pretty easy to get gold, sell items, the vendor system is ok (player vendors etc although some prices are way outta whack).

Grind-I've heard horror stories of Asian games being rediculous in this aspect. This game does not seem that way to me, or at least within the earliest stages. Losing Self (level 1) to Gathering Chi(level13)=1 night/6hrs.  Gathering Chi 1 to Opening Chi(Lvl 26)=1 night/6hrs). Opening Chi1 to Opening Chi7 (Lvl 32)=1 night/6hrs. OC7-OC9(Lvl34)=1 night/5 hrs and this is because I went back and grinded a lot of other skills i used less often like healing spells for higher benefits. There are however 216 total levels If I read the FAQ correctly.

Dragons-You can play 6 different clans (races). Shaolin, WuTang, Heavenly Deamon, Sacred Flower, Beggars etc (2 of which are male or female only clans so you can't select the alternative at all if you want to play them).

    Cons:

-FTP also means I will probably have to put up with a bunch of adverts.

-Pay Item-if you don't have money to spend then you won't be getting some of this cool "looking" stuff.

-Animations could use some improvements, many seem to repeat for simliar skills.

-Quests-I reported 2 broken quests (porcelain and red silk dress) both of these are game breaking and unpassable and supposedly the devs know about them. The game will hang and you have to use task manager to get out of it. I detailed these 2 exclusively. I have heard of others but not experienced them myself, maybe other clan folk can speak to those.

-Grind-this is iffy for me atm, this could be lengthy at higher levels but getting into a group really makes things go TONS faster on the grind. Problem I have is that certain skills won't increase except by initiating the spell and goes very slowly for some classes (example healing) Macro users are alredy been suspected of cheating in this regards.

-Character Customization-At creation this has got to be one of the BIGGEST peeves I can bring up. There's not much for faces to choose from, this I really wish they'd improve upon so not everyone looks the same. Clothing wise it requires purchase of stuff to look different and this doesn't happen until several levels/golds later into the game (lots of folks look a like). Unfortunately.

-Lag-kind of goes hand in hand with free to play (with the exception of dnl ). I didn't experience tons, but with currently only 1 server for the u.s. its a bit rough during normal 7-10pm EST game play or weekends. Server showed as Heavy load. I don't experence to much but i've got a super connection.

-Servers-Only pve atm, but they say pvp will be open soon. Maybe after Jan 10th OB.

-Sound-Oh my god that GONG sound has got to go when you cast a ranged attack, its driving me nuts.

That's all I got for the moment, i'm liking it, its different. It's free and it's Kung Fu. The story is decent enough, moves you along as you level the grind at lower levels is not as bad as some say but its not handed to you on a plate either. Give it a whirl. I might not stay til level 216 but its a decent enough game.

Could someone advise me whether you obliged to pay for the game once the open better ends?  Thanks in advance?
  • rdelacru1rdelacru1 Member UncommonPosts: 2
So far the word is no charge for the game.  I like the game for the idea of a asian based genre but some of the things they have you do in the game are sort of strange.  The black and white bead thing goes right up at the top of these things, right along with the training of new skill  bouncing balls.  I don't get it, but who knows, it might be real important.  I have had a few problems with quests locking up and getting no responce from gm's and such, but it couuld just be due to the beta period.  The game play is fun at times but could use a bit of work on the quest system to make it better.  The video may be a bit out of date but it is not a huge deal.  I had fun for a week and then it just seemed to get to be a little too.......not enough fun.

What i miss in this game is a specific "red thread". As for the graphics, they do not meet this days standard. I found a lot of bugs, and the soundsystem is not very nice.

For those out there who want to start his/her first MMORPG, it is a free good start.

dam you people are stupid the game is not clsed down just the 1 company and there was 2 companies making the game so if you want to play the game go to acclaims siite and stop saying the game is closed its just 1 company the game isnt closed

How about you learn some respect, eh? They didn't make it quite clear, they said accliam hadnt yet replied or whatever. Therefore, appearing as if Accliam might shut down as well.

Damn, learn some respect. Still sucks I gotta start over again. I was at GC4.

  • ryu20ryu20 Member Posts: 12
well if you even bothered to read acclaims forum you would see there not closing down

Persistent Worlds, who was publishing 9Dragons in Europe closed down. They are in no way affiliated with Acclaim, who is handling the North American version of the game. So if you're playing the Acclaim version you'll be just fine. If you were playing the PW version, then you'll have to make the migration over.
