FFxi is for sure the better game in my opinon, but wow has its good points.
FFxi--more for players who need a challenge (no my brother doesnt understand it and gets bored with it ya hes 10)
wow --- for players who want dont want a big challenge my little brother is 10 and has a 45 undead rogue lol
btw im a 53monk/26 warrior on ffxi and a 60 gnome warlock in wow (only played wow for 3 and a half months comeon give me a challenge lol back to ffxi for me )
FFxi all the way unless your brain hasnt developed and you still watch cartoons stick with wow noobs
I've been playing FFXI for a few hours now and I have come to the conclusion that FFXI is the worst ORPG out there. Camera viewing is horrible, trying to move is ridiculous, don't even get me started on the attacking, this game may be the least user friendly game ever made. There is no comparison to WoW and FFXI based on the fact that FFXI is horrible. How some of you could play this game for years just blows my mind. And someone said that this game had good graphics, they're flat out wrong. The guy who said WoW looks like box of crayons exploded is retarded, atleast WoW HAS color. I havn't seen a color other than white and gray and a very light shade of yellow the entire time so far. -
A whole few hours? Damn! You know so much about the game.
The camera is great, I don't know what you're talking about.
Maybe you're trying to move and use the camera with your mouse? lolstupid
FFXI has great graphics. Equipment is not painted-on like in WoW, and equipment isn't all shiney and fresh like in that game because it's made to be more realistic looking, things look worn, it's much better I think.
The reason everyone says that FFXI is much more challenging is BS. For instance, if you get a static party of friends, you can get a player to 75 rather quickly. The reason the game is hard is because of only being able to party for lvls. Other than that, the game is easy as cake.
WoW has its challenging points, but its made for people to enjoy a fun interactive leveling experience. The guy with the 60 warlock, do you think your job is done? You've just started playing? Are you keyed to all instances? Have you been working on your tier0,1,2,3 gear? How about pvp? WoW owns in PvP and anyone who says otherwise is crazy. FFXI pvp is gay as hell.
For non-PvErs (I'm honestly a PvEr by heart) PvP is the most challenging aspect of the game. As a famous quote about WoW says: a boss in a dungeon will do the same strategy no matter what group of people fight him. He is limited to only being able to do what he's programmed to do. In PvP a player gains skill, in doing that the challenge becomes hard. PvPers in this game are as hardcore as they come. For PvP players who play on a PvP server. Just getting to Point A to Point B means you could get jumped at anytime by a spiteful rogue, or a sworn enemy from a different faction. These aspects make the game huge. 8 million players to be exact. Tell me what FFXI has on this? Expansion pack content? New classes? 18 Alliance runs? Limbus? Dynamis? BCNMs.
No, FFXI is not more challenging in WoW. The reason WoW is considered easier is because of the soloable content. But anyone who has actually put good time into the game can comment that this game is challenging. I don't want to wait 2hrs to get in a group just to do something when I can log on and do something in WoW with my time. For people who have lives outside of games like work, school, etc., WoW is great. You get in a good raid, pvp guild. You have scheduled times, you go to raids, badda bing, badda boom. In FFXI get ready to wait in Jeuno for a party to show up. You can't tell me that FFXI has it tops down. Also as I stated before, the gil problem is just completely ludicrous. Newbs running around with SH, or Hauby's and true core players busting their balls to get in a cliche to make hard earned gil to just get the same items. Its not right. Someone could say if you don't like the game, quit. Guess what, I did.
I have been playing FFXI now for over six months and i still havent even explored half the areas
I ventured in Beseiged on day for a luck and lets say iam a wimp i left even quicker especially when medusa started slaughtering people left and right
As in regards to graphics when i got it i liked them but thought it was a bit pixalated but tehn i found something out 3 months in, TURN ON THE BUMP MAPPING, once i turned this on and messed around with teh settings teh game looked even cooler,
Yes there are RMT and Gils sellers but SE are cleaning them up and after a while youo hardly notice them and once you get higher enough you can even stop them from levelling with Heal and Blaze Spikes
Having said that though is the lack of gil i can obtain myself, you soon find various ways to gain it whether its farming while skilling up or if its crafting but its all good fun
I havent tried WOW and at teh moment i am enjoying FFXI, only way you can figure them out is choose one and see if you like it, after all each gives you month with teh cost of purchase

you honestly find PvP In WoW challenging? wow, Now i've heard everything.
PvP In WoW Is even more Static that Bossfights sometimes, because you keep repeating the same thing, over and over and over, as you write it, you make it sound like much more than it is.
After 2 years of Playing WoW, hitting 60 with 3 characters and getting HWL on my shaman, i can honsetly say that HWL could be achieved by a Mentally challenged monkey with a stick...
and as for the Gil thing, Have you played wow for 1 consecutive hour and not gotten at least 1-2 Tells/mails about where you "should" buy gold? No? thought so..
I do not believe that this issue has been addressed yet, so I will add this to the discussion. Unless I am mistaken, when you buy the FFXI game, you get a content ID that is good for 1 character. You then pay the 12.95 or what ever a month for that 1 id. You can purchase additional ID's to get other characters for 1 dollar per ID.
I have played, EQ, DAOC, DDO, and WOW before getting FFIX. And coming from all those others, I was at a loss as to how to control my character as well as frustrated at the thought of paying for any additional characters. At least in the others I can create multiple Characters per server and not have to pay any additional amounts.
Maybe it was just me and being to used to movement in the other games, but after spending several hours on the game I gave up in frustration. Since then I have purchased Archlord and have found it to be better in some cases than the others, while still lacking in some areas as well. However, in Archlord, DDO, and WOW... I can create multiple characters and not have to pay an additional amount.

FFXI is also cheaper than most of those other games.
You can pay for your main ID and 2 other character IDs for the same price of WoWs base subscription.

How can FFXI be cake? it's full of many different aspects and challenges, i.e missions for each dif expansion
And also aren't all online games meant to be
to enjoy a fun interactive leveling experience? And how is it interactive when you hardly talk to people but instead grind doing quests to gain exp and then repeat?
FFXi pvp isn't gay. It is more complex so to speak because there is a structure to it. And so you have 8 million people playing, that just means you have 8 million noobs running around right ;P.
FFXI is more challenging. Maybe it is cause u need skill to play FFXI where WoW only needs you to be a mindless drone sitting at your comp doing the same things over and over again. And even the parties in FFXI are better than you soloing because you have to be aware of your parties strength and such and make up for it. Our weapon skills and skill chains added with magic bursts doesn't work without some knowledge.
And you dont have to sit round in jeuno to get parties you idiot, ever heard of forming your own or soloing on ffxi? maybe if you were a competent player you could do well. And how would you say a noob could be wearing a hauby huh? maybe they aint noobs at all but a second character or so. And its not hard to buy stuff because you can simply get your mates that you can make to go farm it.
And also FFXI has cutscenes which adds an edge of enjoyment of doing things.
FFXi so owns WoW in pretty much all aspects because WoW is for little kids who sit around in their rooms wetting their pants just cause they don't wanna leave their comps
ffxi has good graphic and etc., but i like WoW better. the reason why i like WoW better is because you can jump over object and other more. ffxi pvp is too slow. dont really see that much exciting action there. further more when you engage the monster you can't run away that is just kind of lame. but wow u can do most of the stuff that you want. like when you kite a high a$$ level monster. it's funny but fun "ahahaha" well, there is more to say but i like WoW better
I haven't played WOW yet not saying I won't...But from what I have seen of WOW and FFXI that WOW looks more like a cartoon or a moveing comic book...Then FFXI is more crisp as far as grapics instead of colors bleeding every where...I know every game has its ups and downs...Which one day I will try WOW but it is not at the top of my list to play...But FFXI is so I would have to go with FFXI and that is because I have been a fan of FF since the first on the NES...

Not sure what you mean by can't run away after engage but I assume its about the targeting. If you spend some time (like 30sec) going through the options you'll notice that you can disable the auto-targeting which makes you face the mob all the time. Or you can just press the target/rest button to toggle it on and off.
Or maybe its that lame ass part of WoW where mobs stop chasing you after a couple seconds...
It's obvious that both games are loved by their fans. I would say that each is good in their respective ways. I'm sure the fans of each game will say nothing but the greatest things about the challenges and the graphics, etc. I can only think of a few things that could be considered hard to dispute.
Final Fantasy is heavily based on partying and the concept of meeting friends. From the moment you enter the Dunes, you are encouraged greatly (stronger word, forced) to join with others to fight harder monsters to gain levels faster then you can do on your own. Through this early partying, you gain insight into others and most of the time will meet people you'll want to become friends with.
Also, the linkshell system is a further on the encouragement to meet new people. Unlike guilds in WoW (or just about any other MMO), you can have many of them. In, minus the space for your weapon and armor, you can fill your invintory with various different linkshells. Just imagine how many people you can meet that way.
On the World of Warcraft side, the game is geared more around the idea of going it solo. This can be an advantage for people that don't have the time to wait for a party to form (which is one of FFXI biggest weaknesses). There is a social aspect of course, but I can't say it's something that jumps out and bites you quiet like FFXI's. Part of the key there is to get into a good guild with mature members. I think the hardest part then is finding a guild with members that aren't all too busy to stop and spend time hanging out or even to help with a quest or two.
I've never experianced such a guild in WoW so I have no idea just how good the community can feel, but I did play WoW for about two months. Eventually the absense of any friends in that game caused me to retire.
On the other hand, I recall my first day in FFXI, I met 3 great people and got invited to a linkshell that eventually defined my experiance in that game. After that shell died, things weren't really ever the same. It's still a nice game, but I morn the loss of "theuntouchables". But that's besides the point.
If you're lucky, the social in WoW could be every bit as deep as FFXI, but early on it's not as supported. So that should be your real deciding factor. Are you in it to meet new people and have good times with them or are you in it to be a loner? Everything else becomes fun when you decide that.
i used to play WoW and i just quit the other day cus imo the expansion ruined it. plus 75% of the game is made up of 8 yr old players. it can be very laggy. FFXI isnt laggy at all and its a beautiful looking game

Well in ffxi, theres not too many "kill this many" quests out there.
Oh and the community is nicer in ffxi for the most part.
