upgrading my ram to play ame - but confused on what type to get

in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

 

what does PC2300 mean on RAM details?

i have 184 pin sticks at 400mhz DIMM DDR

but im not sure what PC2300 means? - does this have an effect on the computer if you order this type and your other RAM isnt PC2300?

    I am going to try to answere you in the best of my knowledge.....Ok well differnt motherboards have differnt ram capabilites and your motherboard since it is old runs on PC2300..When you got to buy ram at lets say newegg.com you would search for PC2300 184pin 400mhz..If you fail to use PC2300 it just simply will not run in your PC nor will your PC boot and possibly could damage your motherboard or the stick of ram..SOO being that..Get some PC2300 184pin 400mhz and you should be fine! Best of luck to you...Might i suggest kingston,corsair ram both great companys with awsome quality ram!

    just wasnt totally sure if PC2300 was a running speed or system thing that needed to be noted

    Holy crap - get a clue before you try to help someone - there is NO SUCH THING AS PC2300 RAM - never was and never will be, there is however PC 3200 - which simply means a double density ram (DDR) running at a clock speed of 400 Mhz. This RAM i supported by most older Intel chipsets as well as most slightly current AMD chipsets.



    Your alternative is something like - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231112

    Sadly most of us cant afford that but it will give you ample room to breathe for XP/Vista and Vanguard for a couple of years to come



    This RAM is DDR2 which in essense a bi-directional double density memory that quadrupples the bandwidth so you will see things like PC 4200, 5300, 5400,  6400 etc. - need a new FX/ AM2 AMD processor or the new Intel chip to use those.

    The best advice I could give you on upgrading ram is this:

    Unless you're buying all new ram (that is, if you just want to add to what you already have), the best thing you can do is just buy more of exactly whatever it is you have. If you have PC3200 DDR-400 on 184 pins, get more of that exact type of ram. This gives it the best chance of not having any conflict problems etc.

    just did a google search for pc2300 and yes it does exist.  i just think it's before your time in age or knowledge my friend.
